Gor Mahia face uphill battle against Motema Pembe
Gor Mahia will take on DC Motema Pembe on Sunday November 3 in the return leg of the CAF Confederations cup. In the first leg at Kasarani, Gor Mahia were the better side for long stretches but could not convert their possession into goals.
“We will have to be more clinical to stand a chance. I will work to improve on everything, including our defence,” said coach Steve Polack.
A goal by substitute Yikpe Gnamien was soon canceled by William Likuta. The Congolese striker is confident of vanquishing the Kenyan champions on Sunday.
“We will win in Kinshasa because now we know our opponents well. They are an average side but work very hard,” boasted Likuta after the game.
Its a daunting task in Kinshasa where attendance for big matches can be as high as 80,000. Gor Mahia will need to prepare for an intimidating atmosphere. Coach Polack is very familiar with Kinshasa
“I have been in DRC twice as a coach and I know how they treat opponents. I have instructed my players not to react to any issue and leave it to security officials and CAF. Our main focus will be to win the game whatever situation we find ourselves in,” said Polack to the Nation.
Polack denied claims that the players were on a go slow.
“The team is okay and those who played on Sunday were given time to rest. I am impressed with the way our team performed on the pitch and am sure we will get a good result away. The team is united and they are happy playing for Gor Mahia,” said Polack.
Meanwhile club secretary Ronald Ngala confirmed that Kogalo will travel on Friday.
“We approached the government with a request and they have given us the nod, thus we shall leave on Friday November 1,”Ngala explained.
Judith Nyangi’s pertinent question is not being addressed…what is the rationale of someone paying flight + accomodation + meals in a foreign country yet players + TB and their families back home are starving to death and rent arrears piling ? What makes us think that this players are MENTALLY prepared to deal with what lies ahead..
What is the EC, Nyangi inclusive, doing to cut off reliance on govt? Currently even the national teams are starved of funds. Not being pessimistic but I hope the rest goes on fine
Flight is paid by gava and accommodation is payed by the host. And if Kogalo don’t attend the match, they will be fined heavily by CAF and suspended.

@Jakoyo, your question is a good one. I don’t want to pretend to know, but I am not sure if government policy allows for the government to cater for salary and allowances for players of a club. The best the government can do as per the existing policy is to buy air ticket for the club’s players and officials.
@Jakoyo….. For the government to assist in such a big way means a lot. Even the FKF president could not manage to get what he wanted. Lets not be ignorant. Nyangi is just ignorant of the goings-on and she doesn’t understand how football is managed.

I think it is better we get eliminated, We have 3 months salary arrears which is equivalent to about 16 million. If we make it to group stages, Caf will provide 27 million but only disburse 13.5 million for preparations but honoring an away match cost up to 4.5 million and a home match costs 1.5 million that is a total of 18 million required. If the government chips in with 2 million for air tickets for the three away matches and gate collections of about 2 million for the home matches we still end up with a deficit of about 12 million. So whats the point
