Gor Mahia floor Sofapaka 2-0
Gor Mahia concluded the first leg of the 2016 season with a 2-0 win over bottom club Sofapaka at Moi Stadium Kisumu. The goals came from Khalid Aucho and Musa Mohamed. Gor Mahia are now atop the KPL standings after a poor start to the season.

K’Ogalo, who collected their sixth successive win will go top of the log if Tusker FC fall to AFC Leopards in a match at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho and defender Musa Mohammed were on target in the first half to see the three-peat champions finish the opening leg on 29 points ahead of the month long break.
On the other hand, the result compounded relegation woes on 2009 champions Sofapaka, who have gone five matches without a win to languish at the bottom of the standings on seven points.
Entering the clash, Gor head coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira maintained the winning squad that blew apart Mathare United 2-0 while Batoto Ba Mungu missed the services of Fred Kentille and Josephat Oyugi who are out injured.
The champions made their intentions known early when Aucho nodded home the opener six minutes after kick-off from his rebound that had dazzled the Sofapaka defence.
The goal motivated Gor to surge forward and they could have doubled the lead in the 20th minute, but Jaswel Njuguna cleared the danger off the line from Karim Nizigiyimana’s delivery.
Sofapaka responded with their first shot on target through Ken Maritim’s thunderbolt, only to see the effort thwarted by Gor custodian Boniface Oluoch, who was alert to parry over.
At the half hour mark, Aucho had a chance to notch his brace but wasted the glorious opportunity when he feebly shot wide after Godfrey Walusimbi had danced past three defenders to set him up.
Ferreira made his first substitution, withdrawing Nizigiyimana for Luke Ochieng and it didn’t take long before his charges found the second when captain Musa Mohammed led by example to side foot home from a short corner taken by Walusimbi and Innocent Wafula.
Batoto Ba Mungu strived hard to pull a second half comeback but that only remained to be a dream despite Collins Omondi rattling the cross bar before Wycliffe Opondo threatened with a long range screamer that Oluoch saved.
The league will take a month long break, paving way for the June transfer window before the start of the second leg.
Whoever was in Kisumu please give us a report of the match. How was our game? We were able to score two goals in the first half and none in the second half. Did we wear out(effects of Sunday) or was it more a game plan to take the foot off the pedal comfortable in the 2 goal cushion? A wonderful way to end the first leg. My prayer has been partly answered. our shemejis held brewkenge. That is worth smiling about. i doubt whether tomorrow’s games will produce winners with wide margins, hence Gor will rule the helm of the KPL table for a month.

Fkf shud not consider EA plys as foreigners since they dont require a work permit to play in knya. These players make our local players work hard & eventualy they bcome better players. If our plys r gud then they shud attract better lgs which can pay them better salaries. kpl is the best in this region thats y our EA bros prefer it than their local lgs.Limiting the no. do not help the lg to grow. fkf shud only limit the no. on match day say 5 plys on the field/tm bt not a max of 5/tm .
what about the Tz league even in CAF tournaments their teams’ are progressing further

I’m hearing of advanced talks with Eric Johanna, I’m hearing Biron Oketch is only waiting for the transfer window to open to be able to sign….I’m hearing the team is ready to release Jackson saleh to AFC leopards…I’m hearing the team is considering selling the Burundi left back, Abouba Siboumana, to Azam fc in order to pave way for a Brazilian. I also hear Kagere is edging closer to rejoining the team. And lastly I hear Eric Ouma might not sign anything more than six month contract. please clarify my concerns!!!
@sylvaonyi , I also heard the same but one thing I know is that Kagere might not be joining us since the coach is basing his selection on players he has seen play and he has just heard of Kagere but not seen him play. Mieno is also being considered but as of now it’s just hearsay.
Yes, Siboumana might leave since of late he doesn’t even make it to the team list.
All the same we still need a striker to partner JaUsenge upfront. Not sure what happened to Saleh . He was my no. 1 target for signing last year. But all the same as Kogalo fans we still value him as we do all our players
Congratulations to Team K’Ogalo. Once K’Ogalo took the overtaking lane, some guys looked at the wrong mirror. On our vehicles, there are some mirrors that give you the impression that the car overtaking is still far away only that when you look into the other you realize that it is actually near. This is what happened to some of the teams that saw Gor at number 12. When we won the first game, they still imagined that K’Ogalo was at number 12. By the time they realized Mayienga had actually caught up with them, they could not match up to K’Ogalo ‘s acceleration power and indication. This did not depend on who was in front, to K’Ogalo the road was clear and it is clear ahead. The cars ahead just do not have the expertise to drive on the Sportpesa road. The bottom line is, Gor does not depend on who wins, draws or looses where.

SHOCKING NEWS !! The Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee (IDCC) has directed the Kenyan Premier League to deduct three points from Gor Mahia as punished for crowd trouble caused by their fans in their league match against Tusker on Saturday 16 April at Nyayo Stadium.
Mr Oguda we don’t want politics to infiltrate this beautiful game please. why didn’t you release this fake ruling before moving to the Summit ? Something is sinister here but it’s alright we’ve already marked as our enemy. Even if you favor Tusker ama nini we will still retain this Trophy be assured of that. Mbeleni ilikuwa mambo ya foreign players mara Gor are being favored by referees now docking points kwani how many times has AFC misbehaved and we haven’t seen such like stupid actions. Omera we are not stupid as you may think and l believe it’s high time the two main teams to demand the largest monthly league fee that’s being shared amongst teams given the dynamics of arranging security. We will not allow this broad day theft from this club. Honestly how do you expect to disburse same amount to Gor and for example Kakamega Homeboys? Let’s stand up and demand for our rights from the likes of idle Oguda.
