Gor Mahia floor Sony to stay in the chase

Kogalo players celebrate after Baldwin Ngwa (2nd right scored the second goal

A 2-0 win over Awendo based SoNy enabled Kogalo to keep pressure on league leaders Ulinzi in a match played at the City Stadium. The goals that allowed Kogalo to floor the Awendo based Sugar millers came via Kenyan international midfielder, Kevin Omondi in the 40th minute and from Les Camerounais Baldwin Ngwa in the 77th minute.

Beating Sony convincingly is a major achievement considering that the Awendo based Sugar Millers are placed 5th in the league and have been a tough nut to crack over the past few years. In fact SoNy have won or drawn most of their matches against Kogalo over the past few years and even won the league in 2006.

Gor Mahia are now within 2 points of league leaders Ulinzi with one round of matches to play.

Mahia has made us very proud, I think right now the management of this great club need to take advantage of the fans support for the club and bring back the issue of buying shares and investing thus giving this club a grreat financial footing. Either way we are in the continental championships next year r we ready? we need to bring in some more talent the competition in africa is a different ballgame altogether!!!

  • Actually, yesterdays game was not upto the standard, but all we needed was Ulizi’s mess to capitalize. The CUP is ours for taking. we MUST. Boys you did us proud by proving our trips to the pitches following you around is not in vein, but for a purpose. BEHIND YOU TO THE LINE.

Well it was one of those matches Gor could not afford a loss.. tense, exciting but most important the win took the title to the wire.. whoever is calmer and clinical at goal between Gor and Ulinzi for the last match, will take the title.

  • Msaff what game did you watch? Gor was upto the standard and Sony is laso a good side. This is they are always refereed to ass Gor B because the play the same style of footabll as the Kogalo boys. My prediction for the weekend will be Gor 2 City Stars 1, Sher Karuturi 1 Ulinzi 1. Gor will be declared the champion in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our defence has been superb in this second leg. Masika, Nasio, Wekesa and Akumu have done very well indeed. Midfield has been improving as the game advances with Colo Okoth and Ivan having been outstanding. Kevo Omondi is a great player but just need to play for 90 minutes to showcase the world his skills. He gets tired very fast before 75 minutes of the game. I think the Club needs a Fitness Trainer to work on Kevo and other players like Kitawi, Duncan Owiti, Tony Onyango etc. On striking, Blackberry, Makori and Ngwa have been outstanding. Next season, the chairman need to engage the services of a Physical Fitness Trainer and Psychologist to work on our players and to give some tips because winning the game is always in the mind. These boys have great potentials that can be unleashed to any opponents and they can win every game.

Whatever happens on saturday 13th I leave it to God. However the boys deserve rewards. They have been a great joy to watch. At least 50% of the price money should be shared by the players and the technical bench. By rewarding success the players will definately perform even better next season.

Keep it cool and focus on the coming game. If you put all these in your head and start losing sleep over your opponent’s performance, you’ll surely lose out unless fate has it for them. Keep focus, play your game and do your best and the result will be SUCCESS. Figure out what is at stake. You could lose it all in just 90 min on Sunday. It is down to those who get the call up in the 1st eleven, play like you’re in a Champions’ Final then rest after a win. Don’t we always shoot first then stand to watch the ball rolling into the net, then celebrate after it is in? Why do we now want to celebrate even before we shoot? Stop the hype and stay calm. May God bless all Gor Mahia players, officials and the supporters.

Paul, I am definately not giving up. I am just trying to be realistic. Ulinzi is a very strong side and they have a one point advantage. We are beating City Stars convincingly but Ulinzi are not taking thier match lightly either. First leg ended in a 0-0 draw.We certainly need prayers on this one.

  • Kosero, this is the time to pysce our players and to let Ulinzi team and any other opponents know that they have been arrested by the Kogalo waves. Let us fight on Kogalo a good fight because the golden prize is a nigh. With God, we are winning KPL cup. Kosero, first leg result does not matter at this stage. KPL football has remained very dynamic with many resolute changes taking place in every game being played. It is a confirmation that we are going to see several changes and surprises in teams’ performance.

To Admin, I’m always willing to participate in contributing articles aimed at popularising Kogalo and winning many new fans.

It has been a season of remarkable improvement compared to last year. We(fans)have offered the plyers the moral support they missed earlier and the boys have not disappointed us.This is a young team with a bright future and it is only a matter of time before another blackberry emerges.Lets all turn up in large numbers on Sunday to show the whole nation that when we mean to do something,we do it with dignity, committment,a sense of finality and pride.K’ogalo for life

Its been fantastic being associated eith K’ogalo. Its further worse that we must depend on the Nakuru result.. but no matter what happens we are happy with the progress and the fact that we have love 4 our own ..s’thing we can relate n associate with makes us truly a people..

  • It has been a great season for Kogalo.Zico has done a great job especially with the defense where we have been very solid in the second leg. No matter what happens Sunday these young lads have rekindled the spirit of the 80’s and 90’s that was lost for the past decade. It is upto the club officials to utilize this moment and allow for further growth of the club. We can do better by establishing Gor Mahia as a professional club. When players such as “Blackberry” move to other clubs Kogalo should be in a position to benefit. Good luck this Sunday and thanks for the great season.
