Gor Mahia given conditional reprieve

Supersport have lifted their ban on televising Gor Mahia matches provided Gor Mahia meet certain conditions. The ban on “live” broadcast of matches involving the club was slapped when some of their unruly fans caused trouble and damage to stadium and television equipment in a match at the National and City stadiums, earlier in the season.

Gor Mahia officials met officials from KPL and Supersport to outline their security plan. Gor Mahia will now deploy 100 marshals to control the crowd at high risk matches and 60 at low risk matches. The club will identify trouble makers and hand them over to the police and start an anti-hooliganism campaign targeted at fans.

This author asks fans to help reign in hooligans by taking proactive steps such as reporting unruly behavior to the police.

The ban on using national stadia (Kasarani and Nyayo still stands).

I’m personally against hooliganism but it’s normally caused by poor officiating. Fans are not just mad to start throwing stones and missiles all over. Let us have serious officials for high level matches such as matches involving GM & AFC Leopards. As for SS lifting the ban, we expected it so I don’t think it’s news, however this is a step in the right direction in promoting soccer/marketing players.

  • On behalf of Gor Mahia fans in Taita Taveta and entire Coast region, I wish to thank Supersports for uplifting the ban on airing all our Kogalo matches. This is a good gestures and we Kogalo fans are indeed very grateful.

To all our fans, let us kick out all forms of hooliganism and thuggery from the stadium. Let us police ourselves and all trouble shooters are hereby warned that they will identified and handed over to the police.

Referees and officiating officials should play a high level of professionalism when hnadling all KPL matches. Officiating must improve in order to win fans’ confidence.

No excuses here. No matter how poor the officiating, all litter should be directed to the litter-bin and every missile dispatched to Kismayu and certainly not to the green grass of a football pitch. Throwing those things to the pitch only makes a bad situation worse and does not in any way persuade or intimidate the referee to rescind his decision.

To save face however, K’Ogalo must be made to look bad hence the preconditions otherwise behind the scenes we know SS is sweating under the collar owing to pressure from KPL, FKF who badly depend on and need cash raised by the huge K’Ogalo fan base.

  • Frank lampard and England were denied a genuine goal againts germany in Woza 2010,the same england were robbed by maradona in 86,Arsenal were robbed when van persie was redcarded at a packed camp nou, simply because he didnt’ hear the whistle in a stadium were 100,000 fans were singing,Abel xavier was red carded for portugal vs france in euro 2000 and france subsequently awarded a penalty penalty, television reply later showed that the ball had hit his front thighs and not his hands….the list of match officials making wrong calls whether by design or default is long and endless..cameroun vs england 90′,nigeria vs italy 94′,cameroun vs chile 98’etc etc.
In short all the above matches were determined and decided by match officialseither by design or default, and they were all more high profile and high stake matches, than our usual nairobi derbies. In all these matches, not a single stone/missile was hurled from the stands
There is totally no justification for disrupting a match or turning to violence during a football match, when results or decisions dont go your way. Those few hooligans among us should change or else WE WILL CHANGE YOU!

On behalf of all Gor Mahia fans throughout maasailand and on my own behalf, I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely thank SuperSport for lifting the ban to televise K’Ogalo matches due to their unruly fans.

I cannot to forget to give a thumbs up salute to our officials for working extra hard to ensure Gor Matches are televised because we stand to benefit big from it. The KPL officials too deserve commendation for arquing our case.

I urge our fans to appreciate the fact we cannot do without Supersport. It is barbaric and criminal to target SS crew and equipments. The security team must roll up their sleeves and guarantee them security as they come these matches. Motorists and other Kenyans must go about their business without fearing to be accosted by unruly fans .

This should both individual and collective responsibility to make our matches safe and full of fun. At this time and age, our smartphones can record incidences of hooliganism and other forms of violence. Let us volunteer such useful information to the police in order to deal this vices a dead blow.

step in the right direction.we must all exercise restraint no matter what happens on the pitch.a stop to any form of hooliganism will impact positively on our club locally and internationally.let us not deny our players the opportunity to be spotted out there through supersports coverage please.

  • @arumtiddi – i thnk u said it all. but are these comedians listening? all those were examples of poor or un-informed judgment by the referees but there were no stones. further more that is what makes football exiting, it was suggested that football be left for judgement by the human element… and thats why fifa refused the use of cameras. if cameras were being used maradona HAND OF GOD could have been denied. its was left for england to just eat their hearts out in PAIN and live to fight another day. the unpredictablity that u might score and be judged wrong is what makes men sit at the edge of their seats. stoning of referee is simply backward mentality, these guys go in there that they love their jobs;he/she wants to be the best ref etc. i thnk kenyan players in the league are the ones not in touch with some rules and that is why while playing international matches kenya seems to be struggling(i put this as a contributing factor) example those of u who so chelsea vs munich match final so the penalty agains drogba.if that was kenya they(players) would have looked at how TOUGH the tackle was and would have bitterly protested yet as per the Rule book, the ref was very correct. the kenyan coach would have protested about biased officiating thus encouraging the fans to protest simply to escape their ignorance of the rule or to hide their poor team tactics.

  • Lets’ also thank the Ec,for working hard to have this ban lifted albeit conditionally. It shows that atleast all is not lost and that despite our frequent criticisms of the ec,atleast some things are getting done

Atleast our players now have an added motivator knowing very well that the whole africa is watching them. They also have a chance to win the dstv walkers and drivtas(rama salim has already missed several already due to the ban).It also gives all our ”sofaset branches”,from nairobi to kampala and everywhere something to smile about!

Finally,i personally think that we should let ssmb keep their viwanjas atleast for the remainder of the season. If anything we have already played ‘efussi’,got our one point and collected our 4.5m!Efussi can always talk to ssmb if they want to host gor at nyayo or kasa.Anyway they said that they will NEVER play us again. There goes there 5m,and a possible 1 or 3 points!

Somebody tell me – now that the SS ban is lifted when are we playing with AFC? Thanks Super-sports for lifting the ban. Come second leg I have confidence that GM is the team to watch and with hooliganism eliminated and players rejuvenated, we expect our current gate collections to triple and possibly finish in top 5 if not 3.

Zdravko Logarusic you need to take the next plane and come back to Kenya earlier to continue with your job in K’Ogalo. We have already entered the mid-season June transfer season officially and it you job to lead from the front in identifying and recruiting the so called talents that you had identified in your short spell in the KPL.

Secondly I was very disappointed on how you dwelled into our national team affairs without permission from our EC, to the extent that you are offering yourself to help fix problems that we have no business with as GOR MAHIA FC. Please be informed that Kenya national team football affairs is purely FKF politics and as such do not soil your good name and reputation by offering suggestion or professional advice to those zombies of EX-MATHARE CUM- SOFAPAKA plus TUSKER . I want you to concentrate with matters pertaining to GM alone and build your career upwards especially now that SS has obliged to power of the “GREEN ARMY” as the driving force behind our local football and such they will air our second round matches live.

Please concentrate on building GOR MAHIA FC , stop too much bickering on the press, avoid this blog for the sake of your status, talk less to futaa.com or michezoafrika and let all and sundry judge you achievement and strategic developments in the second leg by doing THE TALK ON THE PITCH. ALL THE BEST FROM OGANGO WUON PAP!

@12 O.Trailer you are spot on and i can not agree more. Before the transfer period was officially opened the likes of G.BWANA were busy mentioning names of who is who in KPL that GM was targeting for mid-season recruitment; but now they are dead quiet.

The coach is AWOL, while the tactical teams are doing the right things at the right time. Look at “Efussi” they already have their 3 officially allowed target in the den; while LOGARITHM IS BUSY MOUTHING IN EUROPE WITH ISSUE’S OF “MATHA-SOFA STARS” [HARAMBEE].

IN FACT HIS COMMENTS IS LIKE AN HYENA WITH ONE MEAT SAFE ON ONE SIDE[GM] AND AT THE SAME SALIVATING AND READY TO POUNCE ON THE OTHER ONE BY TACTICALLY OFFERING HIMSELF.

Our EC should tame LOGARITHM to style-up and stick in GM affairs , otherwise i am doubting his loyalty.

  • Who said that the earlier we recruit the better players we get? Let’s go for quality even if it’s only getting two players. Let’s also criticize but do it in a constructive way. If and when some of us ever get into such places of responsibility like managing Gor or Harambee stars then they will know the pressure that comes with it.

  • Maybe like in EPL the best players get signed in at the last minute. I therfore see no cause for worry. As professional players they can be signed in on Thursday and be fielded on Saturday. As much as they say the early bird catches the worm we also say haraka haraka haina baraka na mvumilivu hula mbivu.

For a long time i have wondered why GM went signing and saw fans yelling about at the top of their voices for so and so to be signed only to cry again later for so and so to be signed and to beef the midfield and add strikers..after a few months the story begins again. If you ask me we need not sign anyone the same way we needed not in january. By the way who are the players the croatian coach identified as being able to run and think are they the two ugandans and i dont know whn else!

    Reply
  • Walter Alando Bwoga

Kassam Mwivangano I agree with you that we may need not to sign players because we have real talents. However, the transfer window will not spare us. There are players who will go away to join other clubs and remember recently we released 8 players and that’s what we need to replace, otherwise where will we get replacements unless we sign and especially if we get injuries? We need a maximum of 3 new signings but we don’t have to field all new players in one game. As for 3 players identified as able to run and think with the ball at the same time – they are Rama Salim, Kevin Omondi (Daddy) and (—–). Come second leg you will judge these players for yourself; they could be six and not three…

hooliganism should be shunned by any Gor mahia fan. i wonder that our team is suffering because a few individuals do not embrace the spirit of sportism. the EC should recruit players from all over Kenya. this will help curb fanaticism. gor enjoys support from all over Kenya but we find ourselves shunning Gor matches due to hooliganism. lets inculcate discipline and peace. long live Gor
