Gor Mahia go down to Thika United

Gor Mahia, having already wrapped up their 17th league title, went down 0-1 to Thika United at Thika stadium on Sunday.
Additional reporting from futaa.com
Gor Mahia suffered their third consecutive loss in all competitions after being stunned by Thika United who eased their relegation woes with the win in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match staged at the Thika Sub County Stadium on Sunday 16th September.
Early exchanges

With Gor Mahia missing the services of players who were on their respective national team duties bar Francis Mustapha, Dylan Kerr set up an interesting line up with Francis Mustapha partnering with Humphrey Mieno in midfield and defender Joakim Olouch leading the attack line with Jacques Tuyisenge. Chances were few and far between with both sides limited to long range shots that seldom found the target.
Idah yellow

Wellington Ochieng came close in the 35th minute when his long cross from the right flank found the cross bar. Sosthenes Idah was shown a yellow card in the 42nd minute after bringing down Tuyisenge at the edge of the penalty area but Onguso blasted the resultant free kick wide over the bar. Both teams went into the half time break locked in a barren draw.
Second half

In the 52nd minute Kerr looked to his bench bringing on a double substitution with Joakim Olouch making way for Bernard Ondiek and former Chemelil Sugar midfielder Innocent Wafula replaced Samuel Onyango. Gabriel Njoroge also introduced the duo of James Kinyanjui and Richard Kang’ethe for Benson Iregi and Haji Mwachoki.

Thika United were finally rewarded for the their sustained pressure in the 62nd minute when Michael Odongo fired them into the lead after tapping in James Kinyanjui’s purried shot. Kerr exhausted his substitutions in the 73rd minute when he brought in Kevin Omondi in place of Boniface Omondi. Gor Mahia thought they had pulled level in the 82nd minute when Kevin Omondi’s free kick was punched onto the path of Mustapha, whose shot hit the upright before being gathered by the goalkeeper before crossing the line. Thika withered the late storm by Gor to secure three precious points.

I knew we would have it rough after shambolic non existent preparations of missing training a whole week. Still as much as a loss is excusable because of idiotic useless EC Shenanighans of not paying players can TB led by Kerr explain how on earth you can deploy a centre back Joachim Oluoch to partner Tuyisenge in attack while taking Francis Mustapha off position to play holding midfield alongside Mieno?Magi Fuo we are heading towards Oyuma and Mediocrity as a team which i find nauseating…Ojoga mana kaka Ambrose Rachier ojogo Akira

Playing Joachim Oluoch a Centre Back in a striking position alongside Tuyisenge while redeploying our natural striker Francis Mustapha in midfield to partner Mieno is just sheer madness and oyuma of unmeasurable proportions

Like I said before, Kerr has lost it completely and has resorted to whining about anything and everything under the sun. Can he even manage the players and the training anymore ? I doubt.

The results are now showing and I will not be surprised if ultimately we loose all the reamining league matches and he is shown the door ! Let him leave with his head high.

    Let’s give zico a chance……

Jakoyo Zico be given a chance to try what exactly? Ze Maria left and Zico failed terribly at coaching GM until we kicked him back to the ONLY Role he will ever occupy at Mayienga which is First Assistant to any foreign Head Coach. Accept that as long as some like myself exist Zico will Not be Head Coach of Gor Mahia atleast not longer than standing in when a foreign coach is sourced for. He is our legend so i will stop there as the campaign to get him any bigger role will be met with acute resistance that even AR won’t withstand…

What happened? Is it unpaid dues, underperformance, Thika played better or luck was not on Gor’s side?? Honestly speaking for Gor to lose three games consecutively then my opinion is that a change is necessary both in the playing unit and Tb.

Hehee! Operation “Zico on interim basis” is gradually unfolding led by @jakoyo(who just a few days denied the obvious) & some members of EC. The plan is you frustrate the playing unit mentally & physically then appear last minute as a saviour on what is ideally your duty, float the idea the idea of replacing the coach. There is something the foreign coaches bring in GM, which however Gud a local coach is, still finds that thing elusive. We are taking our recent dominance for GRANTED, we could easily swap places with our Rivals if we are not careful.Sir Kerr , i noticed umejishindia ka nya’luo somewhere ama umepewa, watch out this could be the beginning of your end in GM.If it were my place to advise you , wish you would have stuck with mzungu ladies, nothing against our ladies bt there is a lot of selfish interest so I believe you are now exposed like never before & you will find it hard to manoeuvre. Bt again Bora Uhai

Players like Wellington Ochieng…Wesley Onguso and Shaban Odhoji are surplus to requirements at GM while Ernest Wendo and Humphrey Mieno require more bench time with better prospects making the first 11. We will sign players we believe GM needs next season regardless of what anyone thinks including Kerr since as it stands this squad is deficient after being bundled out of Caf Quarter Finals and FkF Shield where the opponents were just better than us to which we resorted to excuses such as fatigue and conspiracies of Nick Mwendwa but point is we were second best both times…

Even Guardiolas Manchester City Cannot Win Against A Relegation Threatened Thika United With Striking Players. @Jasego i expect better comments from you bearing in mind the circumstances of the team. Relatives n lackeys of that useless chairman on this site go tell him to shape up or ship out. Gor is not his balls to toy around with the way he wants.

@Jasego and all fans/bloggers that means well for the club, we need to overhaul the entire Executive Committee of Gor Mahia with some fresh minds particularly with people that can do corporate fund raising for the team. I think Ambrose Rachier is now lethargic with zero ammunition to inspire the team.

My thought can we get out from election during AGMs to a more structured approach of nomination and instead get board of directors with specific tasks of turning the club into a fully fledged professional corporate football team in the order of Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid etc.

We can float the shares of Gor Mahia privately to members than relying on some chairman or officials’ pocket. I know it is a difficult task but with right mind set, public relations and intensive marketing we can do it.

We need just to have two level or structure of Gor Mahia under the following:-
    1. Board of Directors to be chaired by the non-executive Chairman. The board can comprise of seven directors. The objective of the board should be in articulation of strategies with strategic objectives that is to be implemented by the management team.

The board should offer oversight roles in the execution of different strategic objectives.

    2. Management team or Excom
Management team that should be headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and supported by:-
    a) Finance & Strategy Director,
    b) Marketing Director,
    c) Merchandising Director,
    d) Commercial Director (Legal, Contract, Membership and Recruitment Duties)
    e) Internal Auditor that reports directly to the board,

Gor Mahia is a gold mine and has greater potentials even in terms of procuring merchandising and distributing them to all points of sale with target sales being given to the management team by the board of directors.

@Jamigori i totally support your sentiments whole heartedly with the only hiccup we face being executing that important structural overhaul with the current club constitution that gives us No “Locus Standi” to begin the above mentioned process…

Jakoyo, fire fire fire who for what about what? Thika is a team playing in the premier League and always play to win, so when they win is that out of this world? And when it’s against Gor is that out of this world? Let’s sober up my friend. Agreed we will need revamping in some areas but let’s be also sober about that . The coach is just enjoying the situation after winning the league, the only worry now is if any player is chasing the golden boot, nothing else. That’s my thinking and I believe am entitled to it.

Zico (and his advocates) should learn that there is more to coaching than merely playing this ‘judas’ role at Gor Mahia. If you have deputised all these good coaches then surely you should now take up a challenge elsewhere rather than sticking to a job you were given out of favour.
Having someone campaign for you makes you look cheap.

I watched Sampdoria THUMP Frosinone 5 – 0, & what happened at the end of the game was really touching, Frosinone fans gave their team a standing ovation (showed real appreciation) for almost 5 minutes. You could see some players almost weeping. They have been thumped and instead of the fans booing and abusive them they are being appreciated. Can this happen in GM or Africa at large.Sometimes I wonder if there is something that blocked part of our brains that we reason differently from hawa wazungu.May Jehova unblock what is making us reason na reverse, we fond of making 1 step 4ward 2backwards Some pple are itching to make 2 steps backwards ndio tuanze tena..

Why is it that if we win everybody is Ok but we lose and everything goes South? Surely without training chancrs of winning against a team with all that motivation and playing at home is not easy.
As Jamigori said we need an overhaul of the management structure at GM. The TB as currently constituted can still deliver bit we need some firepower i the playing unit. It was sad watching Rayon play Enyimba and not Gor but from the current on-goings we haven’t learnt our lessons.
Being personal with the players and TB will not help since the problem here is an inept EC. Members of EC should be appointment after some interview with an independent body e.g. KPMG, Deloitte, PWC etc and will some measurable targets e.g. % increase in gate collection and number of members recruited.
In this way it willnot be Business as Usual or hqving GM as a cash cow. Having someone with a financial mind might help to harness the big following as well as the appetite for the merchandise

I think the ECgets advice from Jakoyo or Jakoyo is EC, that’s why GMFC is being run like a KIOSK, such minds need divine intervention
