Gor Mahia hammer Nakumatt 4-0
It was a flying start to the 2018 Kenya premier League for Gor Mahia as they completely destroyed Nakumatt FC 4-0. Returning to Machakos for the first time in years, Gor Mahia completely overwhelemed Nakumatt with three goals from Kagere before Wellington Ochieng sealed the score.

KPL reigning champions Gor Mahia have sent a resounding statement after smashing opponents Nakumatt 4-0 in their opener played on Saturday 3rd February at the Machakos Stadium.
Meddie Kagere was the day’s hero stretching from his Super Cup prowess to record a hat-trick in the match, two goals in the second half and one in the first half while Wellington Ochieng’ sealed the win with a late goal.
Gor Mahia was evidently the better side in the first half fresh from their Super Cup win over arch rivals AFC Leopards last weekend. Francis Kahata, Meddie Kagere and Earnest Wendo enjoyed a brilliant combination in the match managing to expose their opponents’ defence on numerous occasions. The goals were however not easily forthcoming as Nakumatt remained vigilant.

The Rwandan would however soon break the Shoppers defence with a shot inside the 18-yard area having controlled in from a counter attack for a one nil lead into the halftime break.
The second half was no better for the Nakumatt side with Kagere resuming to haunt them and pile misery in the 54th minute; sealing his double. The striker who also netted during the Super Cup sent in a low driven shot from inside the box into the bottom corner sending the travelling fans into a frenzy.
Cercidy Okeyo also enjoyed a fine form after coming on in the second half to supply the killer cross that was finally buries by Kagere and continued to show brilliance into the rest of the match.
It was things fall apart for Nakumatt in the second half after Kagere sealed his hattrick in the 80th minute from an easy tap-in into the bottom left corner of the post with Lucas Indeche well beaten on goal.
Two minutes later, Wellington Ochieng’ made it four goal to nil after shooting straight into the net at close range from an assist by Boniface Omondi. The goal ensured that Gor Mahia recorded a zooming start to the 2018 season building on their 1-0 win over AFC Leopards in the Super Cup.

Le Pastre, Joash is now confusing me. Today he gave an outstanding performance with a no nonsense approach. I will withdraw my damning comments about him last week and will hope that he keeps that fire in him. He threw himself at everything Nakumatt and was a hard tackler throughout with less recklessness . Ade was pure class as well as Guikan who seemed to have a telepathic chemistry with Kagere. Samuel was okay but will take time to settle. Boniface Omondi was introduced and was a livewire throughout. Cersidy subbed Wendo and seemed nervous but later settled and dictated the deep position. Kahata was too much to handle and will be our David Silva this season. Mieno seems rusty but still delivers. Praying he gels soonest!!
@Musymo. I am so thrilled by your objective analysis of the events on the pitch. You have acknowledged that in sports or any game, none is perfect. To the one that may not click with the rest you have given room for improvement. It is said that there are days when one may have a bad day in the office. In itself it does not mean that they are hopeless. It only confirms their human nature. Your key word of doing better creates optimism to do better. This builds a player confidence and the team at large. When everything has jelled then great results are achieved.
Musyno tell me more about my man Guikan,is he dribbling already leaving opposing defenders mesmerized koso podi he’s gelling?Am glad my envisaged terriffic partnership of him and kagere is penning out well…They will pump goals galore this season…Ade you said is still electric but how was he as a second striker deployed upfront
Guikan is playing what we call game ya akili…not to many touches on the ball but every touch counts. Added to the ‘agoko’ game he has employed he is going to be every defender’s nightmare. As for Ade , werigo baba at one point he ‘cut’ close to four Nakumatt players from the midfield to the box before Indeche denied him at point blank range…and the assist for Kagere’s second goal was a well worked magic from Ade…you should not be worried because in his first stint I saw him play as a winger, a number 8 and few instances just behind the striker.
Sawa mano ber,am used to Ade as a typical winger…Koro Agoko nii to manr kendo employed by guikan jadhot?Am not familiar with the slang
Agoko means chest and when likes using brutal force we say bwana you like using agoko…Guikan is very physically imposing and uses that to his advantage outmuscling indecisive defenders off the ball.
Such an incredible scoreline without Tuyisenge, Walusimbi, Karim, Blackberry? Then some changes produced the desired results especially upfront.
With Brewkenge hammered by Chemelil, this title race may narrow down to Ulinzi vs Gor affair. I still don’t know how prepared Sofapaka is to challenge for the title. Ingwe will fight for a top 8 finish as usual.

Anything can happen in football.. so nothing is guaranteed really.all teams will be out to stop us.it could work for us or against us.it’s way too early to call anything.

Good scoreline, good start, hopefully we will not be derailed by “non footballing issues in 2018” which “we are being prepared for”. Thoo yawa we are talking about a very experienced EC with +10 years of failing to plan, is planning to fail knowhow. We seriously need to move to the next level.

@ musymo u talk of gaikan playing, the first eleven the admin posted he is nowhere, my humble suggestion to admin, engage the likes of musymo who rarely misses GM matches for updates if you can’t personally or your staff attend the matches.It could help you get first hand info instead of relying in futaa.com sometimes posting incorrect info, case example the line up and that meddie scored during our super cup match.Otherwise Pongezi kwa team
Guikan was not a starter but a second half substitute. Still your point is valid because the other news outlets credited Okeyo for the assist for Kagere’s second goal yet it was Ade. The admin never did due diligence and reproduced the error here. I also request the admin not to reproduce futaa without editing. While it remains my number one source for upto date info on local football it has so many errors. Spelling, typos, names written the wrong way, days and dates confused etc. While some like me dont really mind, there are those who cant stomach such schoolboy errors(pun intended)
