Gor Mahia held by City Stars 2-2

Gor Mahia were held 2-2 by Nairobi City stars. On a positive note, this time it was not the attack that was blunt. George Odhiambo Blackberry scored twice

Additional Reporting from goal.com
Jimmy Bageya tested the Gor Mahia backline with a 25 yard shot then Enock Agwanda made a good run on the left flank found George Odhiambo but the latter hesitated and the chance was lost. Agwanda had another goal bound shot go just wide.

In the 16th minute, George Odhiambo picked out Godfrey Walusimbi but the Ugandan failed to head home. Khalid Aucho was then yellow carded after fouling Jimmy Bageya just outside the Gor Mahia box.

From then on, City Stars looked dominant with Osca Mbugua and Jimmy Bagaye’s efforts going wide. George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo was very wasteful infront of goal and he had another chance wasted in the 29th minute.

Daniel Otieno came the closest to score for City Stars but his effort hit the wood work. Jimmy Bagaye then threaten the Gor Mahia backline.

Gor Mahia then came close after Victor Odhiambo mistimed Eric Ouma’a cross but there was no one to score. Bageya then punished Gor Mahia for the miss as he beat Jerim Onyango for City Star’s first goal.

But George Odhiambo equalised immediately after that and scored a second at the stroke of half time as Gor Mahia bounced back.

Second half substitute Joel Tata, who came on for Daniel Otieno, scored the second goal for City Stars and ensured they shared the spoils with Gor Mahia.

Can we now blame Frank Nuttal for the draw? I hope Frank Nuttal will not be blamed on this poor show. The major problem we have in Gor Mahia is poor leadership period as exhibited by AR and the entire EC.

Gor Mahia has a big base of stakeholders that need to consulted and the idea that AR can do it alone will continue to hurt the team.

AR knows what is ailing Gor Mahia and sooner the matter of administration is sorted out, Gor mahia will continue to struggle.

Let us make Jerry to retire with some dignity so that he can concentrate on his political career peacefully. Then Shakava should be rested for quite some time by Jackson saleh as Musa retains his position.

Aucho is fatigued and so rusted to be in the first eleven. Give Gattuso, Walusimbi, Wafula, kahata
and Omino more playing time to push the team
    from relegation zone.

For striking we can just keep on gambling with the Blackberry / Agwanda / Kelly until June transfer.

OUNA can not read the game tactically and his substitutions are wanting. He is unfit to lead the TB.

@Ogango, you are spot on. One thing I also realized is that a local coach cannot manage Gor. Why couldn’t Ouna see that Aucho as not adding anything to the Gor game. Apart from Kahata and Marcelo the rest didn’t have any fighting spirit. Who says that a midfielder cannot score? Why can’t they shoot at goal when they have the chance? The strikers can go for the rebounds. On football analysis Ghost and Selebwa are always pointing the weaknesses of Shakava. Can’t we try Saleh? The thing is that our current team has no fighting spirit apart from the new signings. Let’s give the Bernards, Ochiengs,Saleh, Kelis a chance to play so that we create competition in that team. On Jerry he just did what we always suspect he will do. Panick in goal.

ogango ur right l think the team should try Luke / saleh combination with musa , shakava is tied then bring back bonny. ouna u lost a chance to show u can handle gor as a head coach .

True. As much as Ouna is fluent in articulating issues I think coaching Gor as the head coach is another matter altogether.

And for the fans who are hell-bent on causing chaos because we are not winning they sould know that now things have changed. we don’t have Nyamweya to come to our support, we have a sponsor whose mage we must protect and hooliganism has very painful payments. Am sure no one wants to go through what Jaro Soja is currently undergoing. The best thing is if you cannot take any other result other than a win then take a break or transfer the support to a winning team, till we start winning again.

  • Surely this must be the year of relegation…even the whipping boys of the league we cannot manage a win nor keep a clean sheet.

@Jakoyo, I can understand your bitterness but I can assure you that relegation is out for us. With a sponsor now we can buy the best. All we need is to get our house in order but not thro’ mob psychology

Ok but rachier should bring on board Boniface ambani and Peter dawo as assistant coaches

Khald aucho played well yesterday in he tried his form is coming back

Nzigymana cannot play his football he is accustomed to coz of short strikers coz no one will head the pinpoint passes

Defenders don’t have faith with jerry. Its high time that Musa Mohammed be declared a gor captain

Gor is playing well only that team work spirit is missing coz gor players are fighting to b in first eleven so this is leading to meanness by gor player

      Kahata playing central
midfield is causing jitters n exposing gor defence coz he cannot be able to run upfront n back to assist gor. Khald is best in central midfield so in future gor should play kahata as no.11 while wafula to be no.7. Wendo, aucho.gatuso partner in central midfield so as they can shield defenders.walusimbi and agwanda should start as strikers.keli and blackberry should start from bench.

Boniface oluoch should be in post. Nzigymana should play balls to walusimbi who will play behind agwanda

@kenneth odhiambo, the problem is that there are also some fans who still believe in AR. What role do they play here or it will be about the strongest to have their way out. With a sports tribunal in place and a sports act as well as Gor fans we need to be smarter.
Running street battles the way we do our politics might not work here. And who are our alternative leaders? Are they vetted? Will they pass the rigorous requirement of the sports act? Just asking

I am having a migraine the size of Mount Everest jodhot. At times I think the gods of football have conspired against us that we must be relegated this season together with SoNy sugar. What kind of pathetic tactics were those Ouna employed today? If you are on a cursed downward slump like Gor,you simply do what us needed to get 3 points, the substitutions should have made some tactical sense and not Nonsense like Ouna did,let him concentrate on his harambee stars role.As for the so-called foreign legion,we are getting a raw deal,Karim Nizigiyimana is playing with our minds,Aucho is playing like a western stima midfielder,if they can’t perform we just dump them for other commuted professionals,Jerry is jerry of old, opielo, odiewo, owalo in the goalpost marach, pliz bonny must make a comeback Shakava aende homeboys of Western stima bcoz he is proving to be Gor’s biggest liability on the pitch,he possesses no technical know-how whatsoever worth playing in a gor jersey.Let us try other combinations,Marcelo played amazingly well not even sibomana has shown such skill since last year June, this so called professionals are at times just hot air when off-form…Ojoga owete naa

  • My two cent. Karim has become a pure liability.Looking back at all the goals against us of late he had role to play CNAPS, and yesterday he allowed the the cross to go thru’ in the second goal. The first one he was no where in sight. He goes up but retreats slowly thus leaving a gap. His crosses were fruitless. Shakava noooo he goes for tackles made for the midfield leaving a gap behind. Lets give Saleh a chance he is more technical. Aucho unfortunately does not deserve a starting number. The best players is Kahata and Marcelo they gave a 5star performance. The new coach should rearrange the team.

@ Waxme thanks for those observations,I have said time and again the so-called foreign pro’s are giving us a raw deal.Karim is off colour and unfit yet he thrives on last seasons success which was only possible since olungacand meddie would utilise his long crosses.Nowadays he’s just costing us by poor defending, the guy can’t dispossess an opponent at all yet he is first and foremost a fullback and not a number 7,his main role is to defend the flanks, overlapping is just a plus.Shakava is terrible technically always clearing the ball aimlessly and can’t control and dribble two steps even if his life depended on it.Aucho unfit,Sibomana Unfit and Injured,Tuyisenge Awol,Jerry…Useless and should have retired at the beginning of 2015 season.A complete team overhaul looms, this unit seems to have outlived there useful days. The only bright stars are new acquisitions Marcelo,Kahata and Luke Ochieng…The last season regulars have proven to be beyond their sell by date…

It is good Ouna has left in good time..it shows you just why we could not manage good signings as Nuttal was away.

This Ouna guy always keep the same team his predecessors play, that is Ouna for you..i expected worse, i fear for Harambee stars, this guy has never behaved like a trained coach, his resignation is the best thing to have happened tyo GM this season.. i remembered a time we travelled to Meru to play against Tursker, he could not make independent fielding decisions, i wonder where he was before joining GM.

AR has achieved somthings at GM, he could have led upto elections and quit honorably i dont know what he still wants to achieve more that the unbeaten run, Cecafa final and three times uninterrupted league triumphs. If anything he shouldn’t have played around to let the likes of Mwendwa be elected to FKF at his expense.

How do you lead a team for close to ten years and keep messing up with recruitment all that time?

  • We continue giving our own technical approaches mara bring so and so mara drop nani, mentioning players’ names badly but one fact is, with this office led by AR, we can bring in Bageya, we can bring Diallo , Eric Yohannas , Khaleed Juuman, etc and all those best players, but once again with this kind of leadership under AR, NONE of them will lead this Great Team anywhere near success.
A Change is as Good as a Rest. We cannot have same people doing NOTHING throughout then expect same successful results. All the successes we used to see in Gor Mahia were solely players and technical bench’s effort but NOTHING to do with the ‘office’.
Monotony kills interest, we can’t watch anymore things being done in the usual boring and unprofessional way, NEVER.
Someone Tell “baba” that We And The Players Are Tired Of His Office.

Gor go to polls on the 3rd of April. I hope our fans who have been raising their concerns will be eligible to vote. We need to note that Gor has members and fans. For fans, theirs starts and ends in the field as only members are legible to elect officials.
May the best candidate and peace be the winners
