Champions Gor Mahia were held to a 1-1 stalemate by leaders Mathare United in a SportPesa Premier League match at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Sunday.

Rwandese import Jacques Tuyisenge converted from the spot the breakthrough goal for Gor on 32 minutes after Lawrence Juma was hacked in the box by Mathare United goalkeeper Allan Owiny.

Kevin Kimani restored parity from yet another penalty awarded after James Situma was adjudged to have been clipped inside the box by Boniface Omondi on 56 minutes.

Legendary striker Dennis Oliech was given a standing ovation by a sizeable crowd that turned up at the 60,000-seater when he replaced Nicholas Kipkirui on 68 minutes.

His return to the Kenyan top flight football after 16 years, however ended just with a few applause from the fans.

Oliech had few sniffs at goal but lacked the final touch that would’ve made the difference

Oliech is good but his fitness level is wanting. The good thing is that we didn’t lose and as always, striking is the major problem

Not a bad result considering the fact that even our darling coach Kerr did not beat Mathare last season yet we were on top form.

A draw is not so bad, considering our recent form!

By the time we play in CAF CCC play off, we need to have picked up form or we are going to be be caught naping again on the continent!

Mathare is a good team.A draw against Mathare United is good enough.

@Ingo, why are you possessed with Oliech’s age? He was assessed by the technical bench who recommended to the EC to sign him. Are you better than those who assessed him and recommended that he should be signed?

    Be serious Bro.

Ignore the idiot abusing Oliech. The only player that I really pity is Muguna. At that young age the boy lacks self confidence and looks demoralized. Let’s pray for him. From the way other teams are performing, the league title is slowly slipping away from our hands, that’s the bitter truth but life must continue.

That was good display inspite of the draw. Dennis showed some intelligent touches and with more practice and match fitness he will just be good, forget about the distraction by people like Ingo. Did you notice the moment he came in there was a lot of anxiety at Mathare’s goalmouth

@Ingo, of all people who have commented about Dennis Oliech in this forum, you are the only one whose comments are negative. What does that tell you?

Never expect any good words from a rival, especially if that rival has been struggling for years to stay relevant in the kpl.

Infact allow me to rephrase that….for the past 5 years or so,Gor has never had a rival, just competitors who sadly don’t give any competition.

So how can we exchange words with the likes of ingo surely?we are not in the small league….let them share and compare notes with teams like Mount Kenya, that is their league!!

Clueless coach, always talking about missed chances ! you are rushing oliech into the pitch for nothing. This is a game that I had predicted a loss but i nevertheless, a draw still does not impress.

somw assessment from our match yesterday. We have good players but our guys is not fluid enough. Sharks and Mathare are more fluid and enjoting thwir game. Striking is still a challenge partially due to thw absence of a creative mid to feed the srrikers. We have a lot of negative play in.our mid. They always turn backwards instead of attacking. Oliech provided more anxiety but the coach erred in giving him more time as Kipkirui was doing just fine. What’s the point of having the foreign legion.if an undit Oliechbenches them

The primitive ingwe stewards roughed up referee after Nzoia sugar equalised. It seems this afc is still undergoing civil evolution, they are still very far from modern football civilization. So ingo that is the right place to post your trash.

@ODHIS muga unfortunately as Gor we are not beyond what ingwe did in Machakos. We are just lucky to be having results that we can live with. It’s a time-bomb. We need to accept that this year winning the league will be a tall order though not out of reach yet

Surprising. This made headline news because Gor had also roughed up the same ref.

AFC should behave. They are making Gor’s Name be invoked for no apparent reason. They make it look like we are their mentors
