Gor Mahia held by Western Stima 2-2

Gor Mahia were held 2-2 by Western Stima in a midweek clash
Additional reporting from futaa.com
Substitute Bernard Ondiek denied Gor Mahia a chance to close the gap to four points with his late equalizer that ensured a 2-2 draw as Gor Mahia and Western Stima faced off in their midweek Kenyan Premier League match played at Nyayo National Stadium.

Godfrey Walusimbi had scored at the 75th minute heading in from an Innocent Wafula’s cross leaving Gor Mahia poised to win the match until Ondiek’s header came in the dying minutes of the game.

First goal

Western Stima came into this top of the table clash seeking the first win and first goal from Gor Mahia ever since May 2013 and it was Kenneth Muguna who launched the attack setting up former Gor forward Hubert Kopany who floated in a cross to waiting Kennedy Agogo Otieno. Otieno never disappointed as he sent the ball into the net just before halftime.

It was Gor Mahia who had a strong start and Godfrey Walusimbi was the first player to get a clear cut chance but shot over the post. He later set up Francis Kahata who also missed to find the target from the edge of the box.

First Stima chance

Western Stima later started responding as the 20th minute mark approached but Brian Marita was unable to dribble past Boniface Olouch. Otieno tried his luck but Olouch stood tall once again in goal to deny him. Towards the end of the first half both teams came up strongly but it was Stima’s efforts that paid off first.

Five minutes from halftime, Gor Mahia won a penalty after Jacques Tuyisenge was brought down in the 18 yard box. Enock Agwanda took it and sent Gabriel Andika the wrong way to equalize for Gor Mahia.

Some called him a genius…..some have called him clueless…He cannot be both!!!! By each passing game it becomes clearer who is right. And oooh the bootlickers spare us this tired story of we played well. Ze Maria was employed to win trophies. The method does not matter. Playing well without trophies is bullcrap. Finally, there are those who will tell us that the coach has done his part and the players are the problem. That does not cut it..When Chelsea flopped, It was not the players who hit the road. It was Mourinho. Ditto Man U and Van Gaal. A poor season by Gor is an indictment on the coach. He MUST take responsibility.

Truth be told…had ze maria left one month ago kogallo would be in for a treble this season.

Secondly, he should know that in Kenya draws don’t win the league but goals and wins.

Lastly, I see him embarrassing the club in kagame cup by pulling off draws with minnows from Somalia and Djibouti in the name of tiki taka and the famous quote ‘ the team played well but was unlucky’

Next is efusi and you can bet on kichapo and the usual the team played well but was unlucky.

I thought that in a game of football all teams get to the pitch with intentions of emerging victors. Who told some of us that Western Stima – the team of the month of September – was going to be a walk in the park. Gor was formed in 1968, history tells me that we have been crowned 15 times. The other 33 times we have not won. So what is the big deal about not winning it this year. After all we have won it for the last 3 consecutive seasons. Kelele sasa ni ya nini jameni?
Poor performers are languishing at the bottom of the table and are fighting relegation e.g Leopards and Sofamiew. The last time I checked the league standing, Gor Mahia were in second position despite loosing 3 points courtesy of some tribal thugs in the name of fans.
I am not worried about nothing. For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

I told you guys, there is something terribly wrong somewhere. It’s not the coach, it’s not the players, they are playing fairly well. Look at the second goal by stima scored from nothing, all our players were like caught flat, no movement including the ever alert keeper!

Such occur everyday in football bro,it’s not a conspiracy…We employ a tactless approach against teams that come fully and tactically prepared to frustrate us so such must be the outcome of radar-less formations…

Thoo……Thoo…Thoo..Omera Otek….Second minute of added time and the team is still spread wide all over the pitch instead of tightly locked to get 3 points? From the time we went 2-1 up,logic and football tactics demanded we re-inforce our rearguard and deploy a defensive minded formation as we try keep the ball for longer spells so we get the most valued win we required but coach was oblivious still spewing tactless instructions from the touchline as is his Norm…Huyu hasaidikii,i rest my case and wait for 2017 in peace

Kweli otek kidi, otek chuma. I thought when we got the second goal so late, then twas time for hiyo ma tiki taka and “good football” to keep posession away from the opponent and escape with a win. Other teams do it to us kwani nowadays its run, run, run and never think! That’s the problem of a one man show remembe AR’s “ati a friend told me that a Brazilian was the best blah, blah, blah”. So all applications and vetting were shelved. Yearly Performance contract for all starting with EC only solution.

Tusker is likely to win gotv shield a ticket to caf confederation cup. Kogalo should fight hard to win or be second to get a chance of representing the country next year. If tusker wins kpl and opts for champions league, then Ulinzi will be in confederation cutp. Ze Maria should just style up in his fielding to end goal drought. As a qualified coach he needs to show why he is the highest paid coach in Kenya and Kogalo players are the highest paid. Muhoroni youth players struggle every day to make ends meet. Something should be done to change our dwindling fortune. Perhaps the management should try team building resort for our players without the coach and management.

Watched the game too. Tusker will be worthy champions. Since our problems started with Aucho leaving, could we try to lure this Hashim Sempala from the brewers. Been following his game and the guy is good. They would not want to sell like they did with Mieno but it wont hurt to try.

I think our problems started when the EC started sabotaging Frank Nuttal. It is pay back time and what the office did to Nuttal is happening to them and eventually they will have to be forced out of the office.

Musymo don’t let J’asego down bro..You know our vision is specific to the best..That Sempala guy is a very average midfielder complemented by the fact that he is in a currently well rounded complete team-Tusker…But he can’t play the Central Cog role we require at K’ogalo..A physically fit Odula Crispin matches him toe to toe so that would be a mediocre foreign signing. WE just have to by any means get Pierot kwizera or bring back Baba Kizito who i am in contact with. Only a reknowned Midfield Maestro and Dynamo will cut it at K’ogalo and Marshall the midfield as is urgently required…

  • I insist;get Competent players for Ze.Look beyond E.A.Look at the guy who scored for Sundowns. This guy is from Liberia. We have the money and our league is seen across Africa;why can’t we even buy good players from that famous academy in Ivory coast;competent players. We need players who can understand Ze’s philosophy so that we conquer Africa next year.
