Gor Mahia hope to bounce back against Tusker

Fans hope the players come to the game determined

Following the debacle against bottom-side Top Fry Nakuru All stars, Gor Mahia fans will be hoping that the team has put aside whatever issues they had and are ready to bounce back. To this point it is not clear what happened but something has clearly been amiss over the past two matches.

Coach Bobby Williamson is categorical that the loss to Nakuru  was simply due to players under-rating the opposition.

Gor Mahia coach Bobby Williamson has said his team is determined to bounce back to winning ways after the team fell 2-0 to Nakuru Top Fry on Saturday away. It was the first loss by the league champions and it has no doubt raised alarm bells at a club that is used to winning and losing remains a foreign word. “We are looking forward to bounce back to winning ways after that poor performance in Nakuru. Our players seemed to underrate All Stars and we paid for it dearly” he told the Standard.
If the above is true, then one only hopes that coach Williamson will pysche up his players properly for future matches.

Not an Easy Match

2012 league winners Tusker are atop the league and will be eager to put some distance between them and their main rivals. They are sure to come out all guns blazing. Under new coach Francis Kimanzi, they have been playing good football. In Brian Osumba and Clifford Alwanga they have a dependable forwadline that is ably supported by former KPL player of the year Kevin Kimani.
Matches against Tusker are always difficult for Gor Mahia. Last season, Tusker almost derailed Gor Mahia’s march to the title when they beat Gor Mahia in a critical league match.  Therefore neither coach Williamson nor the players will be under any illusions.
Fans will be hoping that the team comes to this game determined. After the disasters against Esperance, Nakuru All Stars and Tuzo, fans will have difficulty absorbing yet more bad news.

David Owino, (ankle injury) goalkeeper David Juma (collar bone bruise) and midfielder Antony Akumu (back injury) will all be out with injuries.

This is the real test for Kogalo. I have seen that Owino is out,so is Juma, Akumu as well as Sserunkuma. Yes these are some of the realities of the football game. There comes a time when you run into such problems but that is why you have a squad of 25, or 26? This is the time for other players to stand up and be counted.Emuge,Dan Onyango,Erick Ochieng,Nasio and/or Kevin Oluoch, Blackberry(give him time,he will definitely pick up) etc. We are there, we just need the character and these brewers will be tamed.

Mambo ya bonuses I do not want to comment much, but EC should not take us for some nitwits. These are labour matters and you have seen around of late how various sectors have come out in the streets to demand their employment rights. These players are no different.

MY CALL TO SUPPORTERS: COME OUT TODAY, CHEER,CHEER AND CHEER BUT AVOID ANY DIRTY ACTIONS WHATEVER THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME.THE EC DOES NOT PLAY,IT IS THE PLAYERS, OUR OWN BROTHERS AND/OR SONS, AVOID ANY SHAMEFUL ACTIONS.

I believe we will make it. One thing about Gor is that we know what to do when we are faced with such challenges. Also playing against fellow big boys has never been an issue. This is where we will reveal the new star going forward.
All the Best wishes. And to fans let’s protect the GM name. We need potential sponsors to see how good we are

I believe when @levelmind says WIP he means for us to start challenging the Esperance and others of this world the team has to stay together and be build steadily for several years. Let’s forget the issues of building for one year and then ‘destroying’ it like two years back.
When we were competing favourably in Africa and CECAFA many years back the average age of the players was 25 and thay had stayed together for several years. Austin reckons that there was a rule that players could not leave clubs before 3 years. Currently our ‘oldest’ player is Jerry so we still have alot to do before we become confident that we can stroll over the local teams. Currently even the few injuries are a concern and some of our players cannot be relied on to adequately replace those injured.
We complained of being abondoned by SS and today they are there. Let’s show the world that we could be down but not out

Its good news if its true the match has been moved from the outdated pitch of City to natural grass and spacious Nyayo stadium.

Are the timings the same, that is when is the match?

AM HEADING TO “NYAYO” AS I BLOG & I DEMANDING A TURN AROUND ON THE TEAMS PERFORMANCE . REMEMBER THIS WISE SAYING GUYS THAT “IF WISHES WERE HORSES THEN EVEN BEGGERS SHOULD RIDE ON THEM”. LET US NOT BUILD OUR BELOVED GOR MAHIA ON “WISHFUL THINKING” MENTALITY.

I thought Emuge will partner Shakava in the absence of Calabar. All the same I hope the defence will hold. As it is Tusker has been scoring in all their matches and conceeding at least one goal in all of them. Wish the boys all the best

Symplicity,I oncur with your comment @16. Nasio has to rise to the ocassion today.our right back has been very shaky in the last few games. Kevin Oluoch, please, I kindly hope you have improved on your timing and stamina.
the likes of Khalid Aucho,Buki and Monday/Abondo in midfield should not have any space today.I don see why Kizito Baba and Erico should not contain them.

My prayers to the team. All Kogallo faithfulls, let us all turn up and support our beloved team.We have been where we currently are and EMERGED EVEN STRONGER.OUR DREAMS REMAIN VALID.DO NOT GIVE UP GUYZ,WE CAN STILL DO IT.

we lead 1-0 but the game as it is can g either way. Shakava scores. We have missed so may matches to put this game beyond Tusker. Let’s continue praying. Our defence doesn’t look very stable , especially the right back position

unfortunately we couldn’t beat a 9 man Tusker. so sad for a game we could have won easily.

  • When was the last tim gor mahia won convincingly? 9 man tusker, 8 man tusker, 7 man tusker or even 5 man tusker , does it make a difference if you’re tactics are wrong?

Please update me on the final results.

@Jakoyo if you watched the match you will realize that we hit the bar three times when we were 11 against 11. The problem was the composure of our strikers ahead of goal. If you have ever watched John Baraza of Sofapaka around the goal you will see some composure which our strikers are lacking. Unfortunate that was three points lost. On tactics even individual players need to take the initiative personally and not wait for the coach to tell you all the time what to do. Tusker were even attacking when 2 men less yet we kept on hoofing the ball forward instead of using our numerical strength to possess and punish. By the way did we recruit the ‘right’ strikers? If Danny doesn’t score we are dead. Come June can we offload some of them and get Oduor of SONY and Olunga of Thika? They both show hunger for goals as opposed to our current strikers except Danny

What are really crying for? I’ve realised the bigger part of our undoing is undue pressure exerted on GM players by by ever bitter fans. @Dan, that is why the strikers are in a hurry? The players are ever scared.
