Gor Mahia vs Tusker in crucial match

Fresh from their success against Algeria side NA Hussein Dey, Gor Mahia will once again bring their attention back to the local scene. On Wednesday they take on Tusker FC in what promises to a tough encounter. The match will be played at Machakos on Wednesday February 27.

Tusker are only one point behind Gor Mahia. Both sides are eager to remain in the title chase and both are hard pressed to keep up with league leaders Bandari.

It promises to be a tough encounter. Last season Gor Mahia dropped their first points of the season when they were held scoreless by Tusker in February. In the return leg in October, Tusker scored a 1-0 win.

And Tusker have some highly motivated individuals. Coach Robert Matano is always motivated to play Gor Mahia. Former Gor Mahia attacker Timothy Otieno will also want to make his mark against his former club. But the one player who always wakes up from his sleep when playing against Gor Mahia is Kevin Omondi. Inconsistent as he is, the one team he always wants to play well against is Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia for their part will be looking to make amends for last season when they dropped four points to Tusker. A win is critical in order to keep pace with Bandari. Kahata and Joash Onyango will be missing due to minor injuries. But Kogalo have plenty of confidence after beating Hussein Dey and the return of Dennis Oliech will only serve to further strengthen the team.

Oliech to make a comeback

Gor Mahia are buoyed by the return of striker Dennis Oliech following the intervention of coach Hassan Oktay.

“I was looking forward to have him back and I am very happy that he listened to my request and came for training. He is a real pro. Remember he did not play for two seasons but he came back and is giving 100% for the team. Unfortunately he got injured and couldn’t come with us to Angola but when he recovered he played for 90 minutes (against Western Stima). Not all players are like that.

The coach is full of praise for Oliech whom he says is showing the rest of the players how to be a professional.

“I love to have him in the team because of his experience. He talks to the young players and lends his vast experience to the team. I am telling you any coach would want to have a player like that on the team so I hope that the management can sort out this issues amicably,”

Conspiracies and sabotage antics of Nick Mwendwa of FkF and Zachary Oguda of Kpl will not stop us from fighting to claim a 3 peat and keep the trophy for good in our cabinet. They keep changing things at the 11th hour this game was for Kasarani until yesterday evening now we travel to Machakos. Further they reschedule our tie against ulinzi to next wednesday knowing too well we have two Caf Away matches in a span of 1 week and the team was to camp in Algeria or alternatively arrive early in Egypt (After Algerians declared Jihad on GM). Now they want to complicate those plans too and cost us money we don’t have in air tickets to and fro plus fatigue our players in the process. That game should be rescheduled GM are Kenya’s representatives on the continental stage so i wonder why cant all stakeholders rally behind us to ensure we fly the Kenyan flag High?

@Jasego, I think Gor Mahia should just stay in North Africa to play all the two matches than flying back from Algeria and then fly again to Egypt. To is too costly and does not make any economic sense.

We were to get a second sponsor, what really happened?

It’s unfortunate that we have to go through the same issue of fixture congestion year in year out.

The question I would like to pose here is,if kariobangi sharks had made it to this stage, would the local fixtures have been altered to avoid congestion or would they also have suffered the same fate?

We know that one of the two things FKF and KPL see eye to eye on is their soft spot for Brewkenge. The other one being their shared dream of frustrating Gor Mahia in every undertaking.

About one month ago, I did raise a concern about KPL scheduling league games while we are in North Africa. My advice then was that EC should have written a letter to the relevant body, requesting for postponement of our matches during that period.

These matches in North Africa will be key in determining our qualification for the quarter final stage. There is a possibility that there might be no player medically well enough after the battle in Algiers. In Algiers it will be a war of attrition and those who survive physical injury may be rendered illegible to play against Zamalek by the red cards to be dished in Algiers.

We should therefore not make the situation worse by flying back home and then out to Alexandria. If we do this, then whatever is left of the team to face Zamalek will be hit hard by fatigue of spending 4 of the 7 days on the move.

Let us hope that Benard Ondiek will come out of his shadow today against Brewkenge because he is our fall back plan in Algiers and Alexandria since Muguna is on a yellow card and definitely the Algerian have marked him out for another yellow or a red. This game against Brewkenge should therefore be a dress rehearsal for the battle in Algiers.

I think our only way to survival in Algiers is to plot a full back trick one goalie seven defenders with two strikers atleast to secure a draw jamani

  • Just like there were travel constraints from Angola to Nairobi forcing a rescheduling of our game against Sofapaka , the same can be slyly organised and for good reasons , a lot of the affordable flights from Algiers to Nairobi make multiple stopovers and take as much as 21-30hrs to complete the journey , since our game is late into sunday night , all we have to do is to organise a believable way of missing the monday flights , doing this means that were we to travel on tuesday , our arrival will most likely be after the scheduled wednesday game time , If a fool refuses to be reasonable then fooling the fool is not immoral , rather its just but sheer pragmatism .
On the Tusker game , those who have followed Robert Matano’s game plans involving Gor Mahia will testify to the fact that the guy normally comes to injure our players and secondly to do things that
incite our easily excitable supporters , that aside , I once again appeal to the guys who will get a chance to be in the team to make the best use of the opportunity not only to impress the coach but the fans as well , one secret to succeeding in Gor is to impress the fans in the first opportunity you get , failure to do that then you can ask the likes of Byron Oketch or Timothy Otieno how it unfolds .

And Rachier is the chairman of kpl and Gor mahia fc, if at all the match will not be scheduled, then it will mean that Rachier is tired of winning the league and tusker should be given another free points so that Bandari can continue widening the gap between them and us

@Michael Ogolo, why invoking Rachier’s name. Surely if you nothing to post, just keep off.
