Gor Mahia in hard fought 1-0 win over Vihiga United
Gor Mahia were made to work hard for three points at Kisumu on Saturday. But they were finally ever to overcome resistance from Vihiga. The all important goal came from Jacque Tuyisenge.

Gor Mahia’s perfect run in the Kenyan Premier League continued after registering their seventh win in eight matches.
The sixteen times champions came into the match as favourites, owing to Vihiga United’s poor run that had seen the team draw four and lose three of their last seven matches.
Vihiga was keen on defending, as seen in the first few minutes, trying to play long balls and relying on counter attacks. But their resolve was broken in the fourteenth minute when Francis Kahata did well to pick Jacques Tuyisenge, and the latter did well to put the ball past Barnabas Tiema.
Former AFC Leopards man Charles Okwemba could have leveled matters in the 19th minute after a good pass by Christopher Masinza, but he failed to hit the target.
The visitors had Tiema to thank for keeping the score line 1-0, after he made a number of stunning saves that denied Meddie Kagere.
Tuyisenge, George Odhiambo and Kahata were all guilty of missing great chances as K’Ogalo moved top of the group on 19 points.
The champions, who are preparing for Caf Confederation Cup first leg match against SuperSport United, have won seven matches and drawn one, scoring fourteen goals in the process.

Pongezi pongezi pongezi,the most important thing is three points and team work. There were Vihiga defenders assigned to tame Gor strikers and hence it couldn’t be a walk in the park.We will remain where we belong at least until next weekend .

The capacity of Kisumu stadium is about 15 thousand only while kogalo fans are minions, pls, my fellow fan try to exercise some kind of friendliness

Kudos players & TB. At the end of the day it’s a win that counts. Against V.Utd a one nil victory bagged us 3 valuable points, similarly against Supersport what we expect are results that puts us into the group stages once the 2 matches are over. Bottom line we have to outscore S.Sport even if it’s on away goals rule or penalties.
If we want to rattle supersport.i should have seen a 3 or 4 nil scoreline today…..but am happy the backline is is tight and we are conceding very few goals, the hallmark of a strong and solid team

Eti Kahata, BB, Kagere and Tuyisenge were guilty of missed chances? OK. That was good. Up next is a team which will give us very few scoring chances if any. Their only hope is qualification to Confederation cup group stage since they can’t win anything locally in South Africa this year.
We will play well, defend well, miss scoring chances, fire above the crossbar with no goalkeeper on sight and end the match on a nil nil scoreline in Kisumu.
We will then travel to South Africa for formality knowing quite well that we can’t beat SS away.
Let’s keep an eye on Ingwe, they are showing signs of improvement a match at a time. The fact that they are sharing the top with Gor is another morale booster so they win their matches to pile more pressure on Gor. Other teams don’t approach Ingwe with a defensive mindset the way they approach Gor so they enjoy more open play than us.

Playing super sport at Kisumu will be advantageous to the club as well in connection with gate collections to support the team. In Machakos we don’t have as many fans as we have in kisumu. Not every body has enough time and money to travel all the way to Machakos . Every body try to balance between her daily needs and leisure.
Ker our coach should not be worried too much about missed chances, instead he should be encouraging the strikers about utilizing the rare chance they gate. Talking to much bout strikers and missed chances may even demoralizes them. It must be creating chances , missing and scoring that process is always there worldwide. Please our coach , always try to do your level best and and remain confident , you are a good coach. Don try to be worried so much, we are behind you.
@mark…it’s only natural to worry about missed chances..it could be the difference between us and qualifying for the league format.
The strikers have a duty to put the ball in the back of the net, that is why they were contracted in the first place.As long as the midfielders are creating, the strikers must finish.
Mo Salah,Aguero,Lukaku are strikers… they were contracted to score goals..and score goals is what they do apart from being team players!!
That is Avery healthy argument and i like it. I hope the Strikers are are sparing some of their valuable times to read the fans comments, and if they are not bothered, Usain bolt is coming to join us in June for training , we might hire him and sacrifice one of the strikers.
