Gor Mahia in high spirits

Chasing their first win of the season, Gor Mahia will take on Ulinzi Stars at Afraha stadium today. Gor Mahia have been busy preparing ever since they arrived from Madagascar.

“The team is in good spirits. Our preparation has been in top gear. We expect a tough, tough duel against Ulinzi. It’s never easy against them but the good thing is that we have always matched them toe-to-toe.” said Frank Ouna  to the Nation.

Ulinzi had a good start to their 2016 campaign, beating Tusker 2-0. Ulinzi have added a number of newplayers who have exceled including speedy youngsters like Joseph Kuria who along with John Makwatta are the people whom Gor mahia must watch. Makwatta scored 16 goals last season and was the top scorer for Ulinzi.

“This is just another game, another chance for us to get three points. Getting points is all we are here to do and I know that the boys can do it. I have told the strikers to be composed and not to be fearful of Gor. They are vulnerable and we should take advantage of that,” said coach Robert Matano.

One thing Matano will find is that Gor Mahia is not vulnerable in defence. It is the attack that worries Gor Mahia fans and is giving coach Nuttall sleepless nights. This is a big test for Nuttall. Last season he thrived with an attack that had free scoring players who could take advantage of superb crosses coming from the flanks. This season he will need to make a completely new combination work with Kahata, Agwanda, Blackberry and Keli. Speaking of Keli, the highly touted striker appears to be suffering from a crisis of confidence. Nuttall will need to get inside his brain and psyche him up to perform.

  • Admin, Kuria is anything but a speedy youngster. He is slow and has been around for quite some time. Above all he is just another average player getting lucky and playing well. I have watched him play for a while and i know he will not keep up the momentum. Matano knows best but the player he has benched(Muloma) is a much better player with his best years still ahead of him. This is just a personal opinion!!. Back to Kogallo, as you have correctly pointed out it is our offense that is struggling. Keli can score but it may be some confidence crisis. The more he fails to score and the more the pressure piles from us demanding fans, the more it may get worse for him. Time is also running out for him to start firing. If we were more patient i bet he will settle and deliver but i know we are many things but patient is not one of them. Most of us have pointed out the height of our strikers but many bloggers seem to forget that Keli has scored quite an impressive number of beautifully headed goals in his club and national career. It is this confidence crisis and goal drought that may just spell doom to his Kogallo career.I pray that he starts scoring and he will hit double digits. May even be contender for Golden Boot. Agwanda has also hit double digits before and I dont which devil is this that is in Kogallo’s house to gi ng’a ma oore yawa!!

All the best boys as we prepare for the Mashemeji derby. Knowing that this is football I am ready to accept any of the three results

So sad that Abondo is around but has refused to join the team despite having a year remaining on his contract. I wonder if these players know the rules of engagement. As much as FIFA/CAF fines teams they can also ban/fine players for incorrect conduct

  • Abondo is herewiwith us physically but mentally he is elsewhere. Let him leave him peace and on a high note ! This is the weak of Kichapo therefore I will take any whip that comes along without fear , favour or criticism.

The fans expecting us to be whipped must be getting surprised. All we do is not to score but the team is intact. The only other way is up. it’s just a matter of time. Even last year at our ever best we still failed to beat Ulinzi at Afraha

  • ATTENTION all bloggers: You all know me as a constructive opinion shaper so let me correct Dan original on two sentiments:
1.Any and all right thinking football clubs worldwide exist for only two things which is win trophies and profit from players development. So we cannot, will not and should not release Abondo for free like he wants,Ajax Cape Town must buy out the remainder of his contract as stipulated in the Fifa/Caf buyout clauses if they want Abondo to feature for them, not tell him ATI secure your release letter then get in touch we send air ticket.Omera infact that club was supposed to get in touch and negotiate directly with Gor Mahia on acquiring Abondo’s services and how much we want before releasing him. This I say and no one should bro g the Ooh no nerd to stand in the way of greener pastures for a player,We deal professionally as other clubs do in player transfers pliz
2.We cannot rely on not conceding and likewise not scoring and be happy that the team is intact,Yes there are 3 results in football a Win,Draw or Lose but we cannot have Drawing and Not Losing as our first and second objectives as a club in 2016 and not Winning as our main driving force. The not scoring/winning is why we panic as that is what gets Trophies for all teams worldwide.Thank you all…
