Gor Mahia leave for Burundi with only 15 players

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia will leave for Burundi on Saturday evening ahead of their preliminary Caf Champions League tie against Aigle Noir on Sunday with just 15 players.
Gor Mahia had earlier registered 25 players for their Caf assignments this season, but later made several changes that led to late registrations. They will now have to make do without some players notably new signings Gislain Yikpe and Francis Afryie. Dennis Oliech and custodian Boniface Oluoch will also not make the trip.
Until Friday evening, K’Ogalo was still trying to secure air tickets from the Ministry of Sports and unfortunately did not manage to get all the required tickets. They therefore had to trim the traveling squad to just 15 players and 5 technical bench members.
Their problems have further been compounded by the fact that SportPesa just recently terminated all their sports sponsorships in the country. The giant gaming firm until recently was sponsoring K’Ogalo to the tune of Ksh 65 million per annum.
They need to fight for a draw in Burundi and come complete the task here at home. The biggest challenge is, if we are struggling for tickets to Burundi, then what will we do with North Africa in case we go through this round?
The other question is whether we have the right persons to manage our secretariat. We seem to always have problems with logistics and organization. Is Aduda the right person to hold the position? maybe the rigours and requirements of the office are too much or fast for him.

One bad news after another, this past week. They say when it rains it pours. May tomorrow mark a turning point in what has been a week of not very inspiring news.
I want to remind our boys that this Noyir team is in the CCC tournament on merit. They are the reigning champions of Burundi and football is played 11 against 11, the population of any country nothwithstanding. We must therefore not underate them.
History has always favoured Burundians in ties against us. This is a fact that our boys should be alive to. Even though we have sent a very lean squad, they should go there and give their all. Our Target should be to dismantle that Burundi jinx and it is absolutely doable. Let maximize on the advantage of playing first leg away.
Not surprising. Have they now gone or is it a repeat of Berkane scenerio? Does it mean that those remaining behind will be available for the return leg or what is the position? From the list I saw, they can line up a strong side barring injuries. So just fight it out man to man.
Fallen on hard times even before the season starts . jothurwa , we have to believe in ourselves that we can make a huge difference in 2020 by registering as members and attending matches full throttle.

So much needs to be done in Gor Mahia. One fails to understand why the right strategy for turning this Club’s financial fortunes has proved so elusive yet it has a fanbase that prides itself with being intellectually endowed.

The question is: what is it that they are getting right that is so impossible for Gor Mahia? Look at Simba and Zesco. Are they so much out of our rich? Is it that we sit somewhere and hope and wait for some philanthropist to come from Mars and do it for us? Are we so divided and so selfish that we cannot unite and pull in one direction to pool in one basket for once? For how long will these financial woes continue, yawa?
BB,I concur with your opinion 100%,here at Gor mahia we have same problems every year, Mara all players were not recruited and submitted in good time,Mara there is no flight fare to just Bujumbura here,same problems year in year out yawa,awuoro!!!!
Membership, membership and more membership. Proper gates management. Proper merchandise/brand management. On top of all this PROFESSIONAL and FOCUSED management with proper VISION for the team. Imagine at 51 a man still wearing diapers and begging for upkeep, his agemates long matured, left mother’s bossom and are independent.
JTGJ how can Gor Mahia ensnare and catch this very elusive animal called membership? Nobody among the elected officials wants to come out and recruit members. It is in Gor Mahia where fans beg to be given directions on registration, but those at the helm choose not to give an ear.
@BB, to the contrary:
1. There is a very clear, easy and well publicized procedure of becoming a Gor member.
2. Gor Mahia fans are NOT begging to be told how to become members save for a few hypocrites on this and other social media platforms(hypocrites because they know how to register, make a lot of noise about the need to join on social media but do not)
3. The reason most people claim they don’t want to register is because of the opaqueness and lack of accountability in the way the club is run. Whether they have a point is another matter altogether.

JTGJ, I am keen to see how much the actual line-up will differ with this that I proposed. I don’t know much about Tobias Otieno otherwise we could do with a 4-2-3-1 in which Tobias and Lawi do the defensive midfield work as Muguna helps in the attack by creating chances in the AM role.
