Kevin Omondi joins Sofapaka

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Kevin Omondi has joined Sofapaka. This was announced by Sofapaka owner Elly Kalekwa who spoke to goal.com

“We have sealed a deal with Omondi. He has agreed to pen a two year deal and both parties are happy. We have been in talks with Omondi’s agent for a while and I must reveal that I am happy to see this transfer move sealed amicably.

“We are also in the process of making more signings but all this will depend on how both parties agree like it was the case with Omondi. We have continental assignment coming up next season and that puts us in a position where we must spend for quality players’ who can compete on all fronts.”

Upon returning from South Africa, Omondi had announced that he was interested in rejoining Gor Mahia but was willing to listen to other offers. Given the confusion going on at Gor Mahia now, it is not even clear if anyone approached him. This would be inexplicable considering that Gor Mahia really lacked creativity in midfield last year. So much that Godfrey Walusimbi was moved from defense to midfield.

So Gor Mahia is neither interested in retaining former players nor signing new ones?

Now that Nutall is not coming back …..Unless we promote a few under 19s, I don’t think gor mahia is signing any player this time round……..there is simply NO money !!!!

unless someone is from Mars we cannot blame the officials for the lack of money. We fans literally contributed to our situation. Where are those fans who used to say that with Or without a sponsor they can spoonsor the team. I hope the reality has now sunk. The problem is that some of them instead of humbling themselves might push the final nails in an already bad situation.

lets not blame anybody for the gone sponsorship and prospective sponsors developing cold feet gentlemen.
Aduda just confessed that when they were sourcing for a sponsor, in the meetings they were asked what association Gor Mahia has with Raila -politics. THat sums it all , and we can understand why no one wants his company to be associated to Gor. We definately now know why tuzo pulled out, and we also know why other sponsors are not forth coming-Railaphobia!… According to Aduda thats why they have been loosing sponsors. So guys do we send Raila packing so that we get these money? Thats the question.

Yes Dan they said so and now they have turned against the EC. Please respect people, last season they managed to see the team through all the difficulties. Collins do not bring up such things, who told you so?

The truth is that we have to dissociate the team from politics and tribal egos. The truth is that commerce and politics go hand in hand. As fans we must also learn to keep ODM politics out of this good club. AR and EC have such a tough task convincing potential sponsors that they are neutral but some of us are making their task very difficult. I once read a senior vocal politician from Nyanza saying that now after being rigged out of politics they want to ‘finish’ their only source of pride, that is Gor. How I wish this politician(s) can assist. On another nore why can’t we convince the four Nyanza counties to sponsor Gor as part of their CSR and torism/investment promotion each to the tune of 1m per month. After all I have seen teams in EPl and La Liga being sponsored by other countries’ tourism boards. If we can swallow our pride then Kidero can still help us source a sponsor

Wow it looks likes things are getting thicker. Is it bad politics that is bringing all these or is it association with a Politician? Supposing that the Politician is looked at as the main power, is there a way that Jakom can use his clout to actually source for sponsorship? The problem is that if this happens then it would further drive a wedge into this seemingly sower relationship. The interpretation also boils down to saying that the would be sponsors who are shying away are also influenced by politics. They can not claim to be clean. Finally it does not go without saying that business and politics go together.Bad Politics spoils the atmosphere for business and bad business creates tension thus inviting politics.
