Gor Mahia must honor contract : Giovani’s agent

Courtesy of goal.com

In a move that does not come as a surprise, Bernard Opondo, the agent responsible for bringing Rodriguez to Kenya has insisted that Gor Mahia must honor the 2 year contract that Rodriguez signed. According to goal.com, Opondo also hit out at coach Zdvarko Logarusic for claiming that Rodriguez was home sick. According to Opondo, there is a scheme by certain officials to rid the club of Rodriguez through back door channels.

Opondo told goal.com thus ““The player has a two year contract which Gor are obliged to honor. He does not have a problem at all. I would have known because I am always with him. I have a copy with details of the contract he signed,”

“I was directly involved in bringing Rodriguez to Kenya after agreeing with his agent Diego Armando back in Brazil. I have informed Armando what has transpired and they are very disappointed.”

He also hit out at Logarusic : “The way Logarusic is behaving, he cannot even handle a division four side in Brazil. He appears to be in a hurry to get rid of the player without giving him time which is wrong.”

Opondo said the agreement they had with Gor was to give Rodriguez at least three months to work on his fitness level and a decision on his future would only be made after he has started playing for the club.

“We all knew he was unfit after staying out of competitive football for a while and he requested for time to work on his fitness which was acceptable to everyone. We don’t understand the sudden turn of events.” Opondo told goal.com

All this leaves the question as to why the club would sign Rodriguez to 2 years contract despite the fact that he clearly looked out of shape. Its possible that Rodriguez could petition FIFA for redress if he does have a legitimate contract. Although we have heard from Logarusic, we still have not heard from the player himself

    This turn of events is hardly surprising at all. Some of the cheeky frauds at the EC have decided to visit what may be calamitous on the club. However, that notwithstanding, let me point out the following;
    a) Mr Opondo should know that a player is, first and foremost, an employee. An employer only contracts an employee to do a specified job f them. If the employee cannot do the job, then an employer has no obligation to keep him on his payroll. Your Rodriguez is a complete fraud who cannot even score a penalty kick. Gor, as an employer, cannot keep that liability in its payroll to be the highest earner (even if he were the lowest earner)to do nothing. You can petition FIFA or any other quarters but you have absolutely no respite on that. Please look 4 some other lie to peddle about that guy, you cannot make it on that score
    b) You claim the player was out of shape after having been out of competitive football 4 a while? Why was he out of competitive football? He was coming to Gor as a professional, so he should have come ready to play. It cannot be the duty of the club to put him back to shape then engage him.
    c) For the avoidance of doubt, Logarussic is the coach of Gor Mahia, a Kenyan Premier League club. He has not intimated that he wants to coach at Brazil. Therefore, you are completely out of order to claim that he cannot be coach of a 4th division club in Brazil. In any case, why couldn’t your fraudster play even at a 5th division club in his native Brazil? You thought Kenya would have been the perfect dumping ground 4 pretenders to the game of football? Even then, while Logarussic may not be coach at that level, how about you? Frauds like you lack the moral authority to condemn people who are only discharging their duties faithfully.
    d) The club cannot pay that fraud for three months doing nothing. Doesn’t it sound ridiculous even for you Mr Opondo, that you expect the club to expend 450000 on Rodriguez so that he can work on his fitness? While this woukd be happening, the other players who probably earn just kshs 50-70000 would be busy doing duty and winning matches for the club while this busybody tourist would be busy feeding himself on hamburgers and other junk foods at the expense of the Akumus, Sserunkumas, Jerrys etc, etc. Our dedicated players cannot paid peanuts only for the cream to go to busybodies and frauds like Rodriguez and yourself. Osiepna mano to tek ma kata in be ing’eyo ni idwaro mana temo atema. Many kuna chielo itere milanino
    e) Let this engagement with this fraudster be a lesson to Bwana and his ilk once and for all. Last year, they EC paraded that other fraud, Felix Nwosu. This year, it is this Brazilian. Before the EC can engage these so called foreign players, they need to get the recommendation of the TB. The EC is unnecessarily making the club quite vulnerable with these uncalled for irrational decisions

The main point is that Giovanni misrepresented himself as e very good player thro a Video. Gor relied on this video to offer him a contract. It has turned out that he cannot even win a Goat race leave alone do the tricks he purpots to do in the video! Mr Opondo is making a fool out of himself. Our Coach has never stated that he wants to manage a Brazilian side. He has done wonders at Gor and that is why he is in demand all over Africa. By the way Opondo, what do you do for a living if I may ask? I hope you are not another Waiganjo.

  • Who is this Opondo and what is his level of understanding of football and how professional contracts go? He should find a better alternative job and not try to make a quick buck from community clubs like Gor! The office at Gor should also style up and move with the times. I support the coach’s stand, the guy can not ever make the bench in a Sunday game mtaani!

Who is Opondo and what was his cut to be? Is he a recruitment agent for Gor or was he contracted to look for players for the club? I doubt and now that things are coming out we will learn more, thanks all to Logarusic. Was any one else in the EC privy to all this well worked out fraud? And what bas coaching in Brazil got to do with this saga, Mr Opondo? Can we avoid insults, I think the coach has done exactly what is within his mandate to do. So why insult him?

    Aha haa..

Guys why are we blaming Giovanni and Opondo? Remember we have Ugandans, a Tanzanian and another Kurunmi in the team GM. Were they recruited from U tube?
The well known Olando trained for weeks and was in a way rejected. Then Ja-Brazil is signed straight from JKIA for two years as our known players like K14, Musa are on 1 year contracts!

Lets admit we don’t know what we want, alot of people reasoned that Giovanni would be a strategy for marketing GM and so on and on. Just wait for the elections and you’ll see how guys run around the same same officials involved in the felixinho and Ja Brazil fiasco. What was so compelling to sign a player out of shape and form to regain at GM when we are in serious bid at local and international competitions? Is it the colour or what?

These people Giovani and Opondo did not force themselves into GM, they may be fake or not upto standards but i believe we got what we deserved as we have been beaten in our dream game.

This Opondo guy is just thinking of how much he was going to benefit on the deal if GM took Giovanni and now his mission has backfired so it’s normal as a human being to react. Let him sell the guy to other clubs.

Pondo, why did you bring ‘Waiganjo’ to be trained by ‘David Kimaiyo’?

  • @Taylor you got it right. If it was one of our local coACHES gIOVANNI WOULD NOW BE THE MAIN STRIKER, WHTHER fit or not. No wonder things work for foreign coaches

    Reply
  • You admit the player is not fit….and you guy Opondo…you would have organize for physical fitness 2 months before his travel….

You just want to pocket money and your player cannot deliver onthe field…shame on you

Allow me to belately add on the AGM:
    1. Sponsorship and Financial Transparency- E.g
    Who are our auditors?
Does the club have sponsorship? if not why?
Why can’t the accounts be circulated at least to the branches at least every six months.

2.Renegotiation of stadium hire fees to a flat rate. 20% on gate collections is unreasonable especially for a self supporting club with probably no sponsor.

3.Security and ticket printing by office. Security is a big issue and EC must give the police more authority to handle this issue. What is the role of the stewards and why are so many engaged

4.Finally there is a need to start having membership with monthly contributions payable in advance.Of course only with proper systems and accountability in place

Clap, clap, clap and 3 cheers for Zdvarko ‘OGAT’ Logarusic. Hip Hip……….
You’ve started to repay our worthy trust and investment in you.
Like I said b4 in addition to his coaching skills (and i repeat Sir Bob may even be better in this area) its OGAT’s administrative skills that bring order, direction and purpose at K’galo.

For the Executive Community and Opondo your scam has been unearthed.
In addition to what the bloggers have already explained regarding ineligibility and fraud by the brazilian (ambaye hawesmek hata kuwa ball boy) the officials involved should simply be SURCHARGED.
BTW has the “fake” left and in not who is paying for his expenses. I hope not K’galo.
This should be clarified at the AGM.

Bwana Benard Opondo are you sure that you are not engaged in human trafficking? Are you sure we cannot get interpol to track and investigate you? Are you sure we the K’Ogalo fratenity, are not capable of preferring such charges against you in an international court of law? Think very very hard.

Our EC was totally wrong to give contract before a player is subjected to trials by technical bench.

We should neither blame Opondo nor Giovanni as they are all victim of circumstances. The blame squarely stops with our Executive Office members who have failed in their mandate of working together with the technical bench in accessing players before committing them to long term contracts.

Where in earth do you just sign a player from nowhere without accessing his or her prowess in football?

We need a full explanation from Gor Mahia officials regarding this Watergate scandal in tomorrow’s meeting. The club officials should not commit the club’s meagre resources on players with no CV at all. Mr. George Bwana, the Secretary General is too arrogant and I think fans should replace him tomorrow in the AGM.

@Mwakio can you guess why this AGM is scheduled on a day when the team is involved in friendlies far away in the west? These EC guys see far. The same culprits who are involved in this watergate scandal deep to their necks will use the team’s tour of Nyanza as a very good excuse for skipping the meeting and evading very pertinent questions. I wonder why they could not see far when they were being drawn into this scam.

Barefoot, meeting can go ahead as the chairman is the convener of the meeting. This is a friendly match where technical bench members are the only team whose attendance is necessary but not EC.

  • I hope we will not skip tomorrow’s meeting then continue asking the EC questions from this blog. That’s a golden chance to come and ask all those pertinent questions on Giovanni, Olando, TUZO etc. Let’s grasp the opporunity with both hands. We need to start the session on a clean slate.
I also take this opportunity to thank all the fans who proved to all doubting Thomases that GM is the most popular team in the country in all areas, attendance, sms voting, gate colletion etc
