Gor Mahia name Champions League Squad

Gor Mahia have named a 25 player squad for the 2019-2020 Africa champions League. Unlike past instances, the signing of new players was completed before the squad list was due. As such all the key new signings have been included.

Gor Mahia have never reached the group stage of the Champions League. They begin their campaign against Aigle Noir or Burundi. Should they win they will likely face USM Alger.

Goalkeepers: Fredrick Odhiambo, David Mapigano, Boniface Oluoch

Defenders: Wellington Ochieng, Philemon Otieno, Shafik Batambuze, Geoffrey Ochieng, Joachim Oluoch, Joash Onyango, Charles Momanyi, Maurice Ojwang

Midfielders: Ernest Wendo, Tobias Otieno, Kenneth Muguna, Curtis Wekesa, Boniface Omondi, Lawrence Juma, Samuel Onyango

Forwards: Dennis Oliech, Nicholas Kipkirui, Dickson Ambundo, Gislain Yikpe Gnamien, Francis Afriyie

Not a bad looking squad. If well handled on and off the pitch it’s capable of going places!!

I am happy to see that our toothless diamond is still around for K’Ogalo in goal. Where is Bernard Ondiek?

Five days and still counting. Any news from Oktal?

  • Am happy for the negative energy branch aka legion of doom…their inputs were invaluable to coming up with this lean and experienced CAF squad. For once , am optimistic about the future however we still have to navigate through the twin elephants in the room..
    1. Sportpesa financial challenges.
    2. Oktay ‘s imminent departure.

    Any updates ?

This squad has left out the inexperienced players who were in Rwanda for CECAFA club championship and had just been recruited from National Super League as well as Gor Mahia youth team(Ombija, Oalo etc). Thanks EC for listening to our concerns and bringing on board 7 experienced players. This is a good squad which will go far. All that is needed is to sort out the financial challenges and the issue of the coach.

Seeing a big gaping holes in the midfield,

Ernest (with his rushed tackles might be out on cards, also heavy and mostly depends on how he wakes up), Boniface Omondi (vertical limitation might hinder performance against Northerners), Muguna (good on a good day. takes unofficial holiday at some point during the season)

    AND WHO IS THE COACH?

  • Bernard Ondiek..they have continuously u derated Bernard Ondiek..personally i like his energy..tackles and forward approach..far much better than the reckless Ernest Wendo..

From the look of things, I think we have a very strong squad once it jells together and have unity of purpose in every game. The mix of both experience and upcoming talent is quite a jell. This is going to be a desire of many. At the same time locally, other teams have basically recruited with sole purpose of dislodging Gor from where they belong. On a positive note, this is going to make the league spicy and probably move down to the wire. In a nutshell, we are going to be standing against the money bags as one may say. The likes of Wazito and he rest. However, despite being coined and compared to the likes of Man City…… we have the most lethal weapon they do not have and which we must use all the time anywhere and everywhere. We have the only fan base that is faithful and committed. My prayer is that we shall continue to make sacrifices in those travels and if anyone cannot, we urge the those around those places to always turn up in large numbers whenever Mayienga is around to cheer them on. Finally, let us not look at what is in another team, but be proud of ours and take care of it as supporters. K’Ogalo oyeeeeeeeeee.

I don’t understand this post. I thought he already identified three coaches, or e fooled his believers heheheheeeeeeeeee. see his previous post

BB we signed Ivorian Gislein Yikpe Gnamian and Ghanaian Francis Afriyie…Go to camp toyoyo and watch the wonder boys esp Afriyie who only today in training hit a hat-trick by Gor main team and B team…Gislein landed first so that’s why people had not seenAfriyie including Oktay but he arrived Monday morning met the Coach briefly but Oktay left yesterday. 3 coaches have already sent in their CV’s seeking to replace Oktay. They are Messrs:
        1. Adel Amrouche
        2. De Jongh formerly and briefly with ingwe
        3. Ze Maria once our very own
All is well we are rearing to go in Caf

Wow! Just wow! Thank you Ja’Asego. I am spoilt for choice out of the three although I would settle for either De Jong or Ze Maria. When De Jong was in Ogwang’ he always outsmarted our Bob Williamson. Ze Maria is equally acceptable if he is ready to work natve assistants.

I don’t see anything contradicting what Jasego has posted. Or does it mean the above mentioned are the current coaches of Gor Mahia? Even though I failed in English, I stand to be corrected bro.

Jasego you’re killing me with laughter my friend, yaani you mean you are just going to pick and bring a coach instead to the kogallo team instead of management announcing that the head coach position is vacant the interested coaches to submit the CV awaiting scrutiny cum interview .ADOR has said that he feels the HASAN has gone for good because the leave he was granted ended and he has not communicated ,the house where the coach used to stay he had picked all his stuff and went with to Turkey. The Assistant coach we have now doesn’t have the required requisite for Fifa and Caf meaning he cannot hand the team in any caf assignments. Anyway we now need a serious coach who can transformed the team going forward Again it is high time we start asking ourselves these tough questions, Why coaches are leaving gor mahia after just a season even after they have done well for the team?

  • I am very much in order both before and now. I Clearly said 3 coaches had sent in their resume as intent to succeed Oktay. Did I say anywhere they were the ones under consideration of even front runners to get the job? There are herculean complexities involved in hiring foreign Coaches from the Price and Associated costs of contract and other personal requests. Be that as it may and time not on our side it behoves me as Chairman’s co-opted Head of TC to sort out my department which enconpasses both TB and playing unit. So wait for a foreign coach asap am jetting out now…

Nobody with some Sixth Sense would touch you . You said it right. Coaches are not “coffee beans” at an international auction market. They in fact would fly in whenever they see such a glamorous opportunity. No one should fly out looking for them. I even wonder WHY a foreign coach with only three internationals WHOSE QUALITIES WE ARE YET TO ASCERTAIN. And coaches who just add to the monthly bills with no meaningful success ever recorded in CAF – ask @jakoyo. Save that money you will need it for a rainy day

Fact is senior Gor officials visited the apartment of oktay this morning only to find the apartment locked and most of his household moved to unknown location . His phone went unanswered the whole of yesterday. Plans are underway to have an interim local coach for the month of August .

Jasego, any possibility of a friendly before the team flies out? We need to see what we have to appreciate or form an opinion.
