Gor Mahia names CAF squad

The initial list of players to participate in the 2016 CAF champions league has been sent to CAF. Missing from the list are Meddie Kagere,Innocent Wafula and David Ochieng “Cheche” who was recently signed by the club.

Goalkeepers: Boniface Oluoch, Jerim Onyango and Gradus Ochieng.

Defenders: Abuba Sibomana, Musa Mohammed, Karim Nizigiyimana, Harun Shakava, Bernard Odhiambo, Erick Ouma.

Midfielders: Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth, Goddfrey Walusimbi, Ronald Omino, Eric Ochieng, Francis Kahata, Khalid Aucho, Amos Nondi, Ernest Wendo, Ali Abondo.

Strikers: Michael Olunga, Enock Agwanda, George Odhiambo.

Club official Ronald Ngala told goal.com that they are yet to agree to terms with Meddie Kagere.

“We are still negotiating with Meddie Kagere on a possible extension… if we agree, then we shall include his name before January 15 – the deadline day for late registration of players.” said Ngala.

As for David Ochieng “Cheche”, his transfer details are being worked out in order to avoid a transfer fiasco such as the one that occurred when Patrick Oboya transferred to Gor Mahia, causing FIFA sanctions.

As for Innocent Wafula, the issues around his passport are still being worked on.

The target is to resolve these issues by the January 15 deadline.

Eric Ouma is a promising defender who played for Kakamega high in 2015. Amos Nondi has been promoted from the U19 team after playing for SoNy on loan Sugar in 2015. Most observers see a promising future in him.

  • Meddie will never disappoint. For Innocent, can they go to River Road and sort this long passport story.People forge all manner of certificates why not his.For Cheche I hope he doesn’t become another Paul Were who was waiting for clearance.

I think as fans we should let the EC do what they were elected to do. @Collins told us how we missed the deadline and how bad the issue was being handled, Despite our lack of finances we tend to handle or transfers very well

Dan original, am impressed with the EC, i was just playing my role as a conerned Jakogallo. I must say they played impressively. We now have a team that is continuous and ready to battle, ball to technical bench now. Give credit where due..

Issues in 15 days. …The guy has bbeen club less for the last 6 months. As for wafula, this is a circus that has been goin on for over a year.

I wish fans could gang up and raise funds to kagere for one more year. admin….wha does it take

EC congratulations are in order. You have given very precise info regarding those player`s status. However I think Wafula’s case should have been settled by now unless there is something that I do not understand.

  • thanks for that clarification. innocent wafula almost missed cecafa due to passport issues. he is the same player rumoured to be a ugandan. this issue needs a permanent solution. wafula has a spectacular dislay whenever fielded.

I don’t understand why he still cannot be enlisted…passport issues not withstanding.
We will be playing home and away so the issue of passport should not arise while we will be playing here!!what will happen when we are short of numbers here?

Gor Mahia fans, please be advised to take a good rest during this break because things will be different in the 2016 season. As has been pointed out by other soccer stakeholders, Gor Mahia had a memorable 2015 where almost everything was perfect. The only memorable disappointments came against Azam (thanks to Aucho’s temperament) and Nakumatt. 2016 will not be as smooth for us and that is why we need to have maximum rest. I realize that some of us have not taken a break, but instead we are anxious about some small matters that the EC is quite capable of handling.

Honestly there is very little we can do about CAF list or whether Kagere remains in Gor Mahia or not. Let us take time off and wait to accept and support the Gor Mahia that will be unveiled to us come February. For now why don’t we just lay off and put back a few kilos, because come the next season, the stress of being a Gor Mahia fan will see us lose so much weight. On this note I reiterate my earlier proposal to Supersport and Spotpesa to pay us ‘hardship’ allowance because the stress we go through by virtue of being Gor Mahia (and Efusi) fans is just enough hardship. Hardship allowance of around KES 500 per month and taking a conservative fan base of 10000 will raise Gor Mahia some 5 million a month.

@Barefoot Bandit you got it right. This year is gonna be tough for us and every team apart from Sofa and Ingwe might not provide the usual compe. Teams like Muho, Bandari, Posta, Tusker and Ulinzi are going to be very strong. The issue is whether our team will have the zeal to fight like we did last year. Personally I am ready for any result and considering that so far we are still sponsor-less we will have enough distractions to stop s from achieving our targets. But so far the EC has done well though persobnally I would have loved us to conduct elections for the other roles apart from the Chair. A personal thought though

Yaani how long is it taking to resolve Wafula’s passport issue. By the way, he should not be fielded in the league until this issue is resolved. The club must be careful not to lose points unnecessarily.

  • Kagere feels that his effort was not recognized. This player is brilliant; just look at his positioning in KPL clips. We better not loose him;if we must loose then it better be Olunga who definitely won’t stay longer.Ngala better talk good to Kagere if worse;Take and pay later

@Moses, Kagere feels bitter that he was dropped from the list of best players in FOYA yet Gor had no influence on that

What is this issue that some Gor fans will be holding a demo this week to force the EC to hold elections and that Gor has complied with the Sports Act but some officials’ name were not submitted
