We will be there but where is the security assurance and was it so absolutely necessary at this time? There is only some 14 days to the start of the second leg – Hows the team preparation, where’s the coach, where are the new players, who’s leaving etc ? Bw Seceratary you had promised us a structured weekly briefing? These are the things we need to be hearing at this time.

  • and the feel good factor continues. it’s hard to tell what gor is celebrating these days. is the club loosing it’s purpose that it now organises disco events. withing no time gor will be looking for dj’s in it’s technical bench. CAN gor just wake up and do what’s it’s supposed to do, win trophies and let us have a reason to celebrate. first sign of loosing the plot is when u start to divert from ur original purpose. that’s why u have mumias producing electricity while the demand for sugar in kenya is still insatiable. ya… and airtell is now giving loans to kenyans. this happens with institutions that seek to divert the attention of stake holders as a result of their inadequacies. good smokescreen…
while guys can go ahead and have fan i thnk the club is loosing it’s focus. the only thng that seems to happen in gor these days is more and more feel good events.

@2 dinga ! Today you have made my day yawa! From Splash at Canni with kids paying 300/= and adults paying 500/=; Then prior to the D-day it was reviewed to 500/= per head be it kids or adults, and after a short spell it was called off or was off or cancelled completely because of national celebration cum security concern plus involving the sponsor who were to offer TUZO upon entry of fans.

Now branches have organized the entertainment tournaments on sato and this HYENA’S iwith their ring leader in the name of FAIZ wants to fool us that it’s will be K’Ogalo night at those useless night clubs where they want to fleece our money in conduction with the bar owner alluding that every twenty shillings will be offered to players. NONSENSE!

    1. Where are the players you promised to unveil in front of my son , wife and daughter on the so called the Family day on Madaraka day?

    2. Why have you not paid the eight players you laid off as promised?

    3. Stop embarrassing GOR MAHIA family by organizing night DISCO where you want to unveil the would be new signings like NIght-Runners?

    4. What is the agreed cut you want to make in the name of players while fleecing money from innocent who blind to your maneuvers.?

@ 2 JAHAKOREMO I will not lower my status to attend such low calibre, dis organized function at night with those confused elements; where my security is not gauranteed neither I can not have peaceful time with my family as I promised them earlier.I have only come to realized that FAIZ and G.BWANA are still green when it comes to dealing with issue’s pertaining to GOR MAHIA as a family.

This guys are disorganized and a total disgrace , I had promised my wife and kids a lot of fun and sentimental presents of K’Ogalo regalias on the anticipation of Madaraka day family day and then they expect me to attend DISCO’S ei TOK gweng’ ! BURE KABISA!
LET THE YOUTH -WINGERS ENJOY THEMSELVES, Nothing worth celebrating!

  • Never heard AFC criticising their office for organising Ingwe nite but us we criticise anything that the EC decides. We have the liberty to go for the K’ogalo nite or not. For those not for nocturnal activities or prefer more ‘posh’ joints we have the interbranches day at the City stadium on sunday. After that we will have the family fan day. A few months ago we were demanding for the fans day but now that it’s here we criticize. Having a fans’ day/nite out does not stop us from recruiting the best nor does it stop the players from training. After all as we demand the players to run and think at the same time the EC must also be able to multitask. And while they are organising for the bashes they have also signed in Mubiru from UG. Personally I will not be at the bash but I can only wish the attendees the best. This should be one way of eradicating racism. Thanks to Nation media for contributing rophies for the inter-branches away day

Some of the players might be saved and probably will not be comfortable with such kind of activities(disco to introduce them). I’ll somehow support Oganjo Trailer. Nevertheless, this can be a good thing for those who enjoy music by Emma Jalamo, Queen of Ohangla Lady Moreen and other live Rhumba bands. We fully support the EC but it’s good when fans give views for future improvements. If in future such events to introduce players are organized during the day it will be more accommodative and more fans will be able to attend. Pls go ahead it’s our night…

Well, i dont normally attend discos but i am now confused on whether to support the event in absentia or criticise it in total. All the same i think the ec are trying to raise funds through numerous avenues which is normal. I believe though that the percentage earned by the club in all ventures should be comensurate with the name GM beginning with the official replica jerzeys.

  • Let’s accept divergent views to build a stronger GM. Seeing things and demanding that only our ‘way’ is the right way is what has caused us a bad name in hooliganism. Some of us unknowingly will even criticise the team going away for a team-building session in Loitokitok claiming it has nothing to do with football. What the EC plans with the branches or fans outside normal football matches is optional and if one feels it’s inappropriate they have the liberty to keep off and let those who want to bond with their fellow fans go and enjoy. After all some go to these places with or without the EC

@10 MWAKIO with all due respect , I am not an insane person to engage Dan with such wordings and either do I have regrets or apology to offer. Put yourself I my shoe as family man, then imagine what feelings they will have after promising heavens in the name of K’Ogalo day, and then you keep shifting goal post and postponing the promise as the EC keeps on juggling our mind. My comments are meant for ADULTS; but at the same time I told told the YOUTH -WINGERS to enjoy themselves

@ Dan as much as you stand by the EC and support / defend the status quo; please keep off my back! Stop policing and monitoring my views. If you go through the previous archives then you know what i am talking about. Mwakio i was supporting @dinga on post 3 and declining JAHAKOREMO invitation on post 2 . I have not incited DISCO lovers to boycott the function as Dan is alluding.

@Dan yes “Posh” and quality comes second after my security is taken into consideration first and foremost!. And I repeat am not the calibre that will be fleeced with the likes of FAIZ attending the “KIBERA HOOLIGANS ” night in the name of my mighty “K’Ogalo”.I rest my case.

  • I WILL BE AT K’OGALO FAN DAY

I feel extremely sad that I am still branchless.

At one time, i expressed my interest to join Bloggers branch, unfortunately it has failed to take off. That is how good ideas are lost by inept and weak leadership. But if the proponents of this proposed branch read this post, I humbly submit to them to expedite the process in order to enjoy the full benefits such as participating inthe club fan day.

On the forthcoming K’Ogalo night, I wish to tender my sincere apology for not coming due to personal reasons. However I don’t anything at all by the EC to organise such bonding events. I agree completely that the event must be I’m the best interest of the club first and the proprietor of the establishment. The EC have elected through a popular vote at the AGM and therefore assumes all powers and responsibilities on our behalf. This has been my position all along.

I wish all of you a fun filled time and take care.

  • pls note that i am not agains gor fans meeting. but in a meeting lets say in canivore i would like such a conversation probably from a passerby reveler.
rev: hey, kwani whats happening here?
    me: ahhhhh, it’s gor celebrating.
rev: must be good, what is it?
me: gor has just taken the e.n central cup (ie after taking the league)… and on top of that they thrashed el alhly of egypt 3-0 agregate to advance to the semi-final
now guys, that is just my wish. but imagine this.
with gor winning like this what would be the gate takings be and would gor really need to raise funds thru such parties. my is FOCUS on winning and the funds automatically take care of itself. i challenge GOR to win the nxt five matches with convincing victories and see what happens to gate collections. my point in short, focus on gor FC business of winning matches and the rest fall in place. but if you decide that these parties are the way to raise funds then gor better hire some very good promoters and dj’s. otherwise get together parties should just be that, get togethers… furthermore this is something better left to the branches to organize. gor should not involve itself too much in organizing such parties. once in a yr is ok but let the branches do it.
    otherwise;
    reveller: hey whats happening?
me:gor celebrating and doing some get together.
reveller: wow, u guys won something… sindiyo?
    me:no.
reveller: but u won the league?
    me: no.
reveller:but u won something or why are u celebrating?
me: (by then i’m already embarrased and i am trying to change the subject)
reveller: (by now he is digging deep in his memory and trying to figure out more about gor) ..ahhh but ur the stone guys, ur having a meeting?
otherwise, those going for the get-together have fan but let’s focus and help gor achieve it’s past glory ON THE FIELD.

@ dinga and O.Trailer I understand why u guys see no sense of celebrating at this particular time but I think it’s worth for fans to gather and bond as we prepare for second leg. Besides re-discovering our winning ways towards the end of first leg, Supersports have also returned to air our matches for the benefit of our fans on diaspora not mentioning that we have also come out of age as regards hooliganism. Based on the few positives both on and off the field let those who want to drink, dance, eat and think at the same time do so peacefully, as long as they will not act in a manner that will end up spoiling the good name of ‘Kogalo’ by misbehaving and disappearing without paying bills. Be your brothers keeper guys! And take care of your safety cause we need all of you come the start of second leg.

  • Why not organize an exiciting friendly match against one of the top neighbouring clubs or teams in transit-the way it used to happen b4.

Get the right opponent and such a GM match can raise close to 1m easy, give players exposure etc,etc.B4 or after the match then fans/players can interact. It is unlikely for GM to get more than 50k(gross) from this event.

LET EC FOCUS ON SOCCER AND SERIOUS FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES.HOW WILL ACCOUNTABILITY BE DONE for this event-ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY IS STILL LACKING WITH THIS OFFICE DESPITE HIGH PROMISES DURING ELECTIONS.

  • GOR INTERBRANCHES COMPETITION IS MUCH A BETTER IDEA-

WHAT ABOUT PLAYERS BEING ASSIGNED AS “COACHES” FOR THE BRANCHES AGAIN IT SHOULD BE A PRELUDE TO A HIGH LEVEL FRIENDLY MATCH

why fans day at NAIROBI only? we have fans in Naivasha and other regions. gor has got following all over Kenya. why artists from only one region? why delicacies from only one region? we fans from other regions feel left out. consider us or we defect to other teams with a national following. gor management should consider visiting and launching fans branches in areas not perceived gor friendly. we are there as your ambassadors. long live gor. the premier league is ours year 2012.

  • @?anthony nganga, as a fan from Taita Taveta though I reside in Nairobi am in total agreement with you. EC need to open up for many fans allover the country to join these worthy courses. We need more bondings in all county headquarters as soon as possible. Gor is a big club with huge following in the region and such efforts should be replicated through out the region.

@ODUOR12, OGANGO TRAILER, PAREYIO 09, Dinga, Okoth Jabilo, Dan, ?Ja Thur gi ji, etc what are your thoughts in fans bonding throughout the country.

  • As a Gor fan here in Ghana, I am watching live transmission of the Ghana Black Stars vs Zambia Chipolopolos FIFA World Cup Qualifier in Ndola courtesy of the government of Ghana. In contrast Kenya soccer fans are denied the opportunity to watch the Harambee Stars/Namibia action because the Kenya government cannot step up to meet the costs of live transmission. HOW SHAMEFUL!

  • @Mwakio and @Nganga you are very right. I have always said that as much as GM players are from all diverse regions we must appreciate that they come with fans from those areas. It’s important to distinguish between ‘Ramogi’ nite from K’Ogalo nite. What if we invite the players and yet half of them cannot follow the proceedings? One thing I advocate is to diversify the EC both in gender and regional balance. We lose on some very capable leaders just because of this bias. If we do this even Nyayo stadium will be too small for our fans and this will translate into more cash and a well-paid professional team.

  • FANS BONDING IS AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME

There is no denying the fact that K’Ogalo fanbase is tremendously growing thanks to the Y generation. The Kenya Premier League is now competitive and full of fun.

Ticket Masters, the company that handles all league matches recently released a report that puts K’Ogalo way ahead of the pack in terms of match attendance. As the club continues to attract following from the width and breadth of Kenya, there is a need for bonding activities for various reasons.

First, there is no way history can be erased. Gor Mahia is a community club which was established way back in 1968 with the late Thomas Joseph Mboya as among the founders.
The club was passed on from generation to generation. The current Y generation, forming about 70% of club fanbase owe a great deal of loyalty and support to the club to their greatfathers and fathers. Many fans therefore have sentimental feelings to the club. Those of us who come from other communities are still treated with deep suspicion when we attend matches.

Two, let me take an example of myself. Pareyio 09 is a Maasai. Due to strong ethnic lines that still exists, it is hard for me to claim to be a Gor Mahia let alone seek for an elective position in the club. These are hard facts the club need to digest. This should not be the work of the National Cohesion and Intergration Commission. It is a cancer that even our leaders have completely failed to cure.

Thirdly, fans need to bond in order to crash such wall of suspicion, mistrust and above all demolish ethnic chauvinism and stereotyping. For instance, when I go the stadium, I am often asked, do we have maasai who play football? Oj, the superstar in the local comedy, vioja mahakamani, is not a Maasai. The other day comrade dinga quipped that i look like a Luo just because of my mastery of the English language. These and other stereotypes we encounter daily in the stadium by now need to be thrown deep in the dustbin of history.

Our diversity is our strength. We can never achieve our goal if we continue to sweep these new challenges under the carpet. The current euro cup 2012 being co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine has brought to the fore the continued threat of racism. There is better time to confront the challenge than now. The same applies to ethnic stereotypes.

It is my conviction therefore these bonding activities are not only welcome but also a stitch in time. I long for a moment when I’ll the opportunity to share my story with the rest of my comrades in order to build a cohesive, diverse and prosperous club.
