Gor Mahia offices shut due to rent arrears

Gor Mahia FC offices at Nyayo national stadium, formally been shut down. According to a report posted on goal.com, Gor Mahia owes the stadium Ksh 4.6 million in rent arrears. Gor Mahia have not been fulfilling their rent obligations. Yet a source told goal that the stadium management has been lenient with the club.

“They owe us Sh4.6m accrued from the last time we signed a lease with them. The lease was signed in August 1, 2011, and they are required to pay Sh85, 000 a month but the main problem was that they have not been paying rent as per the agreement.” said the source.

The source further went on to say that the club has been very haphazard in the manner in which they handle the issue.

“Sometimes they go for eight months without paying and when we push them, they issue a cheque of Sh200, 000 and sometimes Sh50, 000. They have been defaulting and now you can see the end result. The arrears are now in excess and a solution must be found before it gets even worse.” continued the source.

Gor Mahia will only be allowed back into the office once the arrears are settled.

We can only negotiate with them if they pay the arrears in full. We have been patient enough and the only way we can get them to pay maybe is by denying them access to the office and that is what we did last week…closing the offices.”

This fiasco brings into sharp relief the fact that though this club was formed in 1968, it is still run in a very amateurish manner. Other teams across with a similar history across Africa are far more advanced. Most have their own officers e.g. the Tanzanian giants Yanga and Simba,

Yanga FC office in Dar es Salaam

Most have their own training grounds like the Adako Jarchie training ground that is owned by Asante Kotoko. Some even have their own stadia such as the spectacular TP Mazembe stadium in Lubumbashi, Katanga in the Democtratic republic of Congo

TP Mazembe stadium

Gor Mahia still pays hefty amounts to rent training grounds and offices. They also lose a significant amount of the gate collections to each stadium they play in. When the players need gym facilities, they typically rent the Mathare United gym facilities.

Yet two decades ago, the then President Daniel arap Moi gave Gor Mahia a piece of prime land first at Kasarani then at Embakassi.

And how does one explain the fact that the club has almost a dozen officials and still does not have the presence of mind to pay the rent on time?

No no no and I repeat No no no the EC cannot subject us to tomfoolery and idiocy of such nature while we have SportPesa sponsorship package that is shrouded in secrecy as are match gate collections that remain unaccounted for to date. This is mediocrity of the highest order that cannot be left unchallenged.Embarassibg GMFC Brand in this form and manner is totally unacceptable and I believe these sentiments apply even to hardliners and well documented kingdom guards. We Must Say No in unison and rise up to demand answers and necessary recourse.Stealing and looting cannot be the only agenda Gor office bearers have in mind…Atamoraaaa Karach to rach

I will use all available grammar in my dicta to describe the concerned parties and I begin by saying all those EC members involved are Nincoompoops who suffer from Delusions of Grandeur believing they are entitled or own Gor Mahia instead of serving to protect the clubs integrity and stature.Mwizi ni mwizi hawezi kuitwa Jina lingine and finally in my usual Disclaimer I Repeat “Gor Mahia Sio ya MAMA Ya Mtu”

Hehehe, shocking but not surprising.,,,,,,,.This essentially confirms our worst fears…the many kogallo projects like bread, water, SACCO et.c. etc etc are just personal money making schemes by some officials.Where are the accounts for this projects ?

Secondly, Kogallo is a community club, we are not supposed to pay rent ,is that right ? We still live like it is 1960’s fending ourselves from hand to mouth as we seek funds from donors, well wishers and sponsors to meet EC, TB, Players and other admin expenses. Meaning, once the sportpesa sponsorship expires or is terminated, we go back to begging just like 1970s. What is the work of EC officials ?

I have personally witnessed this ! We are foolish enough to allow stewards , security officers and EC officials to man the gate every match and loot, loot and loot at will without accountability. some of this people ( i know the personally) own houses and drive very flashy cars ..Kogallo is the new cash cow in town. Where does gate collection go to ?

With this mentality, Poverty at kogallo is here forever. God help us !

Happy “93rd” Birthday present from “Mugabe” and the GM “Zimbabwe” branch aka kingdom guards.+8 years experience for you-KRA penalties, rent arrears, highest salary to non playing players, has the bus loan been cleared? fighting EC etc, etc. Consequences of manipulated AGMs purely for election purposes without financial reports. So EC would rather pay non-playing Thiago 1.8M for 6months instead of paying rent. All with an elected treasurer, asst. treasurer (ARE’NT THESE NEW OFFICIALS ASKING ANY QUESTIONS) and defacto treasurer Mugabe. Another proof that the 2nd batch of CAF licensing were all fakes generated from River Road. Why relegate S/paka & Muho? EC just “catwalk” and “tumia kizungu mingi” you used to charm the FIFA tourists on the Nyayo management. How did our game against the team to face “relegation threatened hull city u23” go?

I concur a change is as good as new…We just need a change of guard of any nature coz in the end even if they steal or misappropriate funds (God Forbid)the record or looting spree set by this current office will still be a tall order for them to surpass…Too little too late now for AR is at the Helm for 4 years I guess unless a person does something akin to Rio lanes being expanded to accommodate EC officials too

Pole I was similarly fooled in the 2011 elections and after that I vowed never again. ANY ALTERNATIVE IS BETTER THAN RACHIER.

Rachier is the biggest stumbling block to the success of GMFC as a football club- its affecting our ability to win trophies-nationally, regionally and continentally and also membership and match attendance.

4.6 million divided by 85,000= approx 54 months or 4.5 years. More than half his time as chairman. They steal gate collections and then recycle a small portion under the guise that they are funding the club.

GMFC has not paid rent for 4.5 years and he wants to start building a stadium in May2017.
Confirmation: Hizo 2nd batch of CAF licenses ni ya River Road total fakes.
Confirmation: EC not ready to win league / GoTv because it cannot get a license for play in CAF tournaments. What were the FIFA tourists checking?
Confirmation: GMFC has been probably been mortgaged off.
We need a forensic audit of Gor Mahia since Rachier took over.

Jakoyo it is very sad really that 85,000 kshs monthly cannot be paid by EC as rent while even gate collections should suffice to honour this very basic obligation.Be as it is why wasn’t it sorted once SportPesa gave us 65 million last season and also why is the loan of our team bus perennially increasing instead of being serviced and completed?I mean AR has been thrown by diehards as Kogalo’s saviour supreme and one not to be questioned but in such circumstances really is there anything positive to say he is doing to the club?He cannot repay himself for years he led a struggling GM in lumpsome using sponsorship money

No No Jakoyo with all due respect NO. AR cunningly warmed his way into our hearts pretending to be a saviour, only to turn around entrench himself and then proceed to loot, molest and rape our beloved GMFC silly mercilessly and repeatedly from all angles. He has disillusioned the fans/membership.A measly 982 members and equally miserable and dwindling match attendance. Now Zico is back with his vigilantes to protect the non performing Brazilians. Zico is a defensive oriented coach and our problem is and has been scoring! GMFC membership structure must be strengthened.MEMBERS ARE THE ONLY PERSONS WHO CAN CHECK ROGUE CHAIRMEN AND OFFICIALS AND TAKE GMFC BACK TO BEING A POWERHOUSE REGIONALLY & CONTINENTALLY. RENT HAS NOT BEEN PAID FOR 4.5YEARS/54 MONTHS, SO DON’T BLAME THE NEW LOOTERS WHO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR JUST 3 MONTHS. GMFC HAS ONLY ONE BIG LOOTER AND HIS SIDE KICK NGALA.

I thought that with Gor misfiring, the EC will appoint an offensive minded tactician. To me, while the EC might have had its reasons, the appointment is a retrogressive one. Zico has been here before and it never ended well. How can it work this time? But at least they now have a scapegoat to blame should we end up trophy-less again. Be ready for very many draws!!!

The rent issue is very embarrassing especially for a club of Kogallo’s reputation and age. Gor should be owning its own offices by now. Here is a simple way how. Through Gor Mahia Sacco, The club should join KUSCCO Housing fund. Save only 500k per month for six months and they will qualify for a loan of up to 15 million to be repaid for up to 15 years. This is enough to buy a building somewhere in Nairobi to use as an office. The last time I checked KUSCCO’s interest was only 14 per annum!

GOR MAHIA is in the headline sports news for wrong reasons. It started with the Stewards disrupting an EC Meeting, being thrown out of the office for non-payment of rent and the latest is being thrown out Camp Toyoyo for non payment of usage of training ground. The amount owing is in the tune of millions of Kenya Shillings. Now one wonders, with such good sponsorship deal and modest gate collection amounts, the club is still living like they were in the past when bills remained upaid for months. This is unacceptable, shame on you the EC. We have in the EC some great proffessionals who should never let bills pile under their watch, we just have to change our thinking and the way we do things. Chair Ambrose Rachier should take full responsibility, own up and pay immediately. Otherwise you are exposing yourselves to useless legal tussles and embarassment.
