Gor Mahia officially start new deal with Elliott Bread

Gor Mahia have terminated their contract with Nakuru based Good Bread and signed a new one with Elliott Bread. The deal was first reported last week. Chairman Rachier is now making a formal announcement.

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier while formally announcing the end of the deal on Tuesday, declined to provide further details.

“We have a new one from today (Tuesday) since we terminated the one we had before. I can’t disclose the reasons of our departure but in our contract, there was a clause that allowed either party to mutually end the deal.

However it is clear that Elliott have offered a better deal at Ksh 2 per loaf instead of the ksh 1 per loaf that was offered by Good Bread. And since Elliott is an established company with a wider distribution network, it will create better returns for the club.

Rachier hinted that the club has been disappointed with the returns from Good Bread.

“We have written to Good Bread notifying them of our exit and since I don’t want to breach the contract, I can’t explain further. The deal is almost identical but we want to give Elliot a chance to see if we will perform better financially,” Rachier, who also serves as SportPesa Premier League chairman, told capital FM

It must be said however that the club has not done a diligent job of reminding the club fans and football supporters countrywide to support the bread deal with their pockets. Fans must constantly be reminded. The club should do its part to promote the bread.

  • I am one of the staunchest critics of Gor Mahia management but on this bit I have to congratulate them. This is precisely the basics of what is needed. The club management coming out and telling members and fans what is going on.
It is also a decent piece of sponsorship showing that flexibility and ingenuousness is needed in the face of hurdles. Even though the path to sustainability and matching the status accorded to the team should not be forgotten.
Nothing much to say when its good deeds haha

so… I buy two that is Kshs 4 and if 10000 people buy two that is 40000, for 30 days ie 1,200,000,

I see now not bad…I think it is worth Kshs 8,000,000 per month

  • The deal sound very nice but some Shopkeers will hide the Elliot Bread and display the other Brands so that K’Ogalo bread never move. Nowadays most people do shopping at Super Markets, I think they should pick these big Super-Markets to stock the bread for the lover of K’Ogalo?

Suppose Capital FM did not call for the interview, would our Chairman have passed that information across?

Barefoot Bandit let us appreciate the gesture from the chair. Granted, Capital FM called the chair yes, but he still had a choice to divulge the info or keep it to himself. We know there are issues but let us learn to appreciate good deeds. GOR MAHIA is brand easy to sell, we only need to do some aggresive marketing and I think we are getting there. Is not pleasing to hear that TUSKER FC is taking their return leg match against GOR MAHIA to Kisumu, courtesy of the advise of EABL Marketing department. If Elliot deal succeeds, more will follow.

@William Apida I hear you, however, my point is that Gor Mahia EC should create a culture and well-established mechanism of communicating with followers, supporters and fans. As I pointed out previously, with the kind of following Gor Mahia has, really we don’t need a sponsor if a strong link can be created between the EC and supporters through duly registered and recognized branches. The club stands to gain a lot if there is steady, reliable and sustainable channel of clear communication with the followers and supporters.

I totally agree with barefoot bandit…we have been asking for updates on this bread deal since its inception but the EC has been mum all along.
As stakeholders the club owes us updates on all deals regardless of the circumstances. .must we beg to be told what’s going on within the club?our goodwill as fans must not be taken for granted at all cost!!
