Gor Mahia officially through to Top 8 semis

Gor Mahia will meet the winner of the clash between Tusker and Mathare in the semi finals of the KPL top 8 tournament. This after Ulinzi’s appeal was deemed without merit and rejected by KPL.

linzi had protested against Gor Mahia for fielding excess foreign players in a KPL Top Eight match played on Wednesday at Nyayo National Stadium.

The Military-men had lodged an appeal demanding the tournament organisers to award them the fixture after K’Ogalo breached the rules by fielding four foreign players namely Ivo Mapunda (Tanzanian) and Ugandan trio of Dan Serunkuma, Ivan Anguyo and Israel Emuge, which is in excess of one.

In a statement from KPL boss Jack Oguda , which was copied to both Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars, KPL said since Ulinzi failed to follow the protest rule 3.5 on match arrangements, the result stands and is valid.

“Any protest by a club must be made and attached to the match report before the kick-off. The protest must be signed by the Team Manager or Coach of both clubs,” read the statement.

“A club official who refuses to sign a protest will be suspended for at least the next two consecutive matches and face other disciplinary action. Pursuant to the above, the results of the said match stands as 4-2 in favour of Gor Mahia FC as recorded in the match reports,” said  the statement.

Qoh Laa la!!”THE SUPRME RULING TARGETING OUR DEEP POCKET”

Excerpt from Gor mahia “KIgali Branch” : Urinzi kubari kuchindwo! si turi sha wa chinda raundi one” na 50% Pras 0.7% aka [4-2] Penalty shoot out. Ama niaje?

JUDGEMENT IN RECORD 60 SECONDS: Full disclosure later.

If BVR fails the laws allow the TPL appeal committee to use manual process . Yaani you can re-take penalty even thrice as long as the goalie is adjudged to have jump the line. For fielding of more than three foreign players your application was time barred as per the rules and regulation of the TPL appeal procedure. UNANIMOUSLY!!

  • THE JURY IS OUT

Relax guys. The Kenya Premier League officials have just ruled the petition by Ulinzi stars FC in our favor.

Our focus now should be on the next match. Tusker or Mathare, our goal is singular- to defend the silverware and the prize money on offer. Comrades at one time when the the tournament was being launched were quick to dismiss it as unnecessary disruption to the main league program and a cash cow for the officials.

But as it turn out, the Top 8 knockout tournament is now the most lucrative after the KPL.
Gor Mahia was a football powerhouse in the region afew years back. All of us has a duty to redeem back the lost glory. It doesn’t come in a day, weeks or months. It might take even a few more years. It takes long hours of practice, single minded concetration and tough sacrife. It is possible.

On a parting shot, i was really disturbed by the ugly incident at the Nyayo stadium between Ingwe and Chemelil at a Top 8 knockout clash. It is unwarranted, uncivil and unsportsmanship. I urge the officials to act tough on the club without fear or favor.

  • The ruling was to our favour, but I urge the officials to read and get enough clarifications about the rules of this tournament to avoid such petitions in future. Go Kogalo Go

This is an eye opener for us GM and especially the technical bench to understand fully what the rules say. Even though we are lucky, I can clearly read between the lines that we broke the rule. The next question should be – was it deliberate or simply the technical bench did not know.

On the rule itself – this rule has a very big loophole just like in previous years where anybody having issues with presidential elections was required to serve the sitting president with the petition. How could you reach Moi to serve him with petition? Ok, back to football, how will you complain before knowing/seeing the number of foreign players fielded? In other words you are required to complain even before the match starts…so what if you do so and the opponent takes an action kwa kumuaribia jina?

We have to be extra careful on rules of the football/every match. Today it is us the ruling has favoured and tomorrow you don’t know what will happen. Let me take you a little bit further, Western Stima has been denied goals/victory in three matches but then that does not change the rules. It is just but the blunder of the referees and that is what we call football. Once you are beaten it’s really difficult to overturn the referee’s decision, though possible and the case for Ulinzi was so obvious that they were going to lose.

  • Well, the ruling may favor us for now but did we do something wrong? The rules should be the guiding factor in every action we take. Lets move On KOGALO

While I agree with comments so far posted I wish to give this matter a different view. Is it members of the ‘community’ (EC) who should read the rules? The day they will start preparing the team sheet we are sure to accuse them of interfering with the Tech. Bench. Think of a situation where coach Logarusic tells Besigye to warm up in readiness for substitution and then GB or Faiz or even the team manager points out to him that already there are 3 foreigners in the pitch. Your guess will be as good as mine regarding what will befall whoever makes that observation. My submission is that more than anyone else it is the Tech. Bench who should upraise themselves with the rules.

@Dan you posted a very insightful comment in the previous article. In-as-much as it raised serious concerns I liked it for its humour. The big question remains “what if GM hooligans decide that whatever Efusi hooligans can do they can do it even better?” By the way this “Lucy” that is leaving for the DRC, is she on her way from the state house or were you actually referring to Luc?

So much has been said about hooliganism. In fact Arrumtiddi has even identified two most notable ones from the ‘Den’. As Okoth Jabilo put it, I wish to agree that this sudden upsurge of soccer hooliganism is an after effect of what Dan calls PES. If you look at the actions of ‘Mlandege’ at Nyayo the other day you see a picture of someone who is actually saying that “I have already lost so much and I cannot take this anymore…..I don’t stand to lose any worse than I have already lost therefore I don’t care about the consequences of my actions”. These are acts of exersparation and despair. Some are however, economic opportunists who see their presence in the stadium as an opportunity to grab the steel gates and trade them as scrap metal or the plastic seats and SSMB water tank and trade them as scrap plastic. They therefore try very hard to cause anarchy so as to create a conducive environment for amassing their merchandise. Others are simply attention seekers who don’t know of any other way of making themselves noticed when in a crowd. No matter their motive, these people must be stopped.

What we are seeing is an extension of the ‘sibling rivalry’ between these two clubs since as Omusala observed, followers of these two teams share a lot ranging from political affiliation to the roads and highways back to fatherland and now even soccer thuggery. Ogango Trailer was right with his cheeky advice to Benson Disi and may I add, his fratenal cousin Collins Etisi to take good care of hooliganism because sooner or later our very own hooligans may decide to take us back there. In the meantime let us join in welcoming them to the annual migration from the two national stadia. It is shameful but then what do we do? Perhaps we can call it the annual hooliganbeast (not wildebeast) migration.

Am dismayed to hear that our players have not been paid their allowances for the 4 matches that they have won so fat this season. They have thus boycotted training.
I thought we are now past those issues!!having a sponsor and gate collections was ideally meant to ease our financial burden….why are we being bedeviled by such issues today?what is the EC doing about this???its the last thing we need at this moment in time when we need to up the ante for our league games!!!

@10, Walter it has been proved beyond doubt that it is the kpl who did not put clear governing rules for this tournament. They assumed that since it is a tournament within the kpl, the rules be the same as in the league which should not be the case. By the way, Gor players absconded training yesterday because of unpaid winning allowences. Was there no EC to explain the situation to them till they protest? This is an ugly situation indeed. They kept patience for long till they could’nt anymore.

  • As I said our EC is good at playing to the gallery. While they were vocal on the Ulinzi issue they kept a blind eye to the issue right at our door step. The zeal with which they told off Ulinzi is the same one to be used to convince the players that their allowances will be paid. And these should not just be mere promises but concrete. Pay them piecemeal if the total amount is not available. At least that shows commitment.

  • Where does money from gate collections go? Secretary General and other officials are busy milking the club left right and centre. Players allowances should be paid immediately after the game if Gor Mahia is the home team. We are sick and tired with these circuses. Rachier the chairman need to take the full responsility on this matter. These days we do not hear the total gate collections from our games.

If we have 30 players, total allowances should be Kshs.600,000 which is significantly lower than the total collections and one game is enough to clear all outstanding allowances.

Wellsfargo should tell us the truth about all gate collections as I am fully sure and persuaded that Kilo, Bwana, Faiz, Rachier, Ominde, Nyandega etc should tell us where the money goes after every game. Why is Wellsfargo om this matter?

We had in the past made good suggestions on how gate collections need to be managed. None of these officials is willing to tell us the truth. One of the best way to manage gate collections are:-
    1. Contract a bank to make collections by issue of stamped deposit receipts at points of entries. This will ensure that all monies will be in the bank account.
    2. Open MPESA account where the fans will send money and the message should be used as entrance. When fans have made entry the message should be deleted at the gate of entry.
    3. Hire the firms that manages airport and supermarkets ticketings processes just an example of what KPLC Charity Cup was handled and managed.
    4. Get sponsors that can buy all Gor Mahia home games with such companies can pay the club between Kshs.1.5 – 5.0 million depending with the matches.

Current ticketings methodology is outdated and this is how our club is being robbed by greedy and selfish officials who do not care about the welfare of players. Any of the above methods would ensure transprency and accountability.

Why should a club like Gor Mahia have over 10 officials? We just need three officials at most that is the chairman, Executive Officer and Finance Director. What are the roles of these bloated officials with each of them are printing tickets which are sold first before the officials tickets are sold.

I strongly propose that The Kenya Ethics and Anticorruption team should be asked to probe these greedy officials. These good for nothing officials have bought cars using our money from gate collection and all of them are competing on how many tickets they have prnited and sold using some fans to execute their dirty tricks.

Finally fellow fans, it is all of us Gor Mahia fans to be blamed for the rot at the gate while players that make us go to stadium are starved by the greedy officials we ourselves elected through uncoordinated and outdated AGMs. If we continue with the same useless AGMs and bloated office, we will not get servanthood in running the club.

We fans should reap what we have sowed in poor leadership.

  • Blames stop with all our fans who are triggered about holding usesless and outdated AGMs with financial reports presented to fans are not audted by certified accountants.

Our fans are busy making useless posting in this site without first cleaning ourselves.

We fans have let Gor Mahia down by being confused by these useless officials without keeping them on their toes and checks with accountabilty and transparency.

Fans are to be blamed beacause you want Gor Mahia to be run through the outdated AGMs with fans being ferried and bought by these visionless officials. I need an answer for the following questions:-

    1. Why do our fans being easily confused by people like Bwana, Kilo, Faiz, Nyandega, ominde, Ngala etc who does not deserve to hold office anywhere? Even in villages where they are coming from, they can not be elected.

    2. Do fans scrutinize officials before these useless AGMs?

    3. How do fans allow themselves to be used by these confused officials to continue being in office illegally?

    4. Why are we fans allowing these inept officias to extend their tenure in office?

    5. Why can’t we fans change or turn the club to a professional outfit company and business enterprise?

I rest my long case with lots of tears flowing down to my knees.
