Gor Mahia pip Dockers

Kogalo fans heaved a huge sigh of relief as their team pipped struggling Bandari 1-0 in a match played on Saturday at the City stadium. Gor Mahia were playing without key players, Collins Okoth (suspension), Edwin Lavatsa (injury) and Jerim Onyango who is down with malaria.

It was not a particularly good display from Kogalo who often found themselves under pressure from Bandari. The all important goal came from an indirect freekick. Kevin Omondi put the ball in the path of Moses Odhiambo. The new signing sent a rasping drive which found the back of the net via a deflection. It was Odhiambo’s second goal since returning from injury. It was he who stood out with a good performance in an otherwise dour display by Gor Mahia.

In the second half, substitue John Kiplagat, saw his goalbound shot saved by the Bandari keeper. The lively Odhiambo released Dan Makori with a brilliant through ball. But Makori blasted wide, missing a chance to put the game out of reach.  It is fair to say however that Bandari were the better side in the second half. Kogalo now have 18 points from 10 matches.

  • VERY POOR DISPLAY. Only Moses Odhiambo turned up to play against Bandari. What is wrong with Gor? If u were at city stadium yesterday then u understand my frustration, someone pls tell me what is wrong with our players, Coach what is going on with ur tactics? As u might have noted visibly fans attendance for the match has dropped na bei ya ticket ghali sana! Championship this year? we dont have it.

  • GM played a very mediocre football. Though we won and collected three points, which pattern was GM playing through the 90 minutes? It appears there was no teamwork and co-ordination was very poor throught the game. Bandari played better and purposeful football than GM. If were to compare our last season team’s performance and commitment, GM has lost the rythm and the sleak passes we used to put together. From my own assessment, I think our coach Zico has lost it and it is a matter of time for him to throw in the towel. The outstanding players were Odhiambo, Masika and Musa. From the body language of players, I think we have a deep problem in the technical bench that should be sorted out as soon as possible before it is too late. Zico and the entire technical bench can not unite the playing unit and today’s match was a big testsament. Players were looking uncommitted and this is a reflection on what is happening at the club. I propose that the chairman should take charge and convene stakeholders meeting for members to air their concerns because the club belongs to members. At this rate, we are going to be a pale shadow of ourselves if the officials remains indecisive. From the comments, I think there is one thing that most GM fans have alluded to and this is for Zico to step aside for the interest of the team.

SOME ONE IN THE MANAGEMENT PLEASE FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE TEAM, they look dull and uncommitted and i also saw Zeddie blaming Mose all the time a move did not work while i felt the young man was the only person that turned up for the match yesterday. Things don’t look good anymore!!!

the only time we have played our attacking fluent football this season has been against Thika UTD @ Thika. Zico is not the coach to take Kogalo to the title. We need a new approach & hopefully to the attacking Kogalo of last season. Zico pliz concentrate on Harambee stars & leave Gor now

Now the players you have been crying loud about were fielded, what did you see? Sofacat is next. We are closing in on the leaders. I remain very optimistic. For God and my club Gor Mahono.

Though we won, it was boring to watch we created alot but we wasted.bandari were better side in second half.MOSES ODHIAMBO was the man of match his display was good the other thing i noticed was our goalie he was losing some balls which if there were lethal strikers we could av lose the game.

  • @Kosero please that game was way way way below standard for a team like Gor and to make it worse for a team with an upper hand on the field, but hey thank God for the win coz it gives us another opportunity to make amends. Personally i dont think the problem is entirely the coach at this point in time but the quality of players we have. If i rate the players, its only Moses, Kevo, and Masika who always give 100% for the team and when someone says the body language tells us something is wrong i dont believe coz how come the three gave it their all. I just read In Africamichezo (my favoourite sports website) that AFC Leopards is out look to bolster its team by targetting Echesa, Nyagah in the transfer window coz they have a target to win the premier league and go for the Club championship next year. Are we targeting to capture the premier league and play club championship with the kind of mediocre players we have, i doubt 100%. I have always said whether Zedi rotates the players or not dont expect anything from the kind of players we have currently maybe in future when they will have matured. Did anyone see the way the Bandari captain was playing(the guy deserves to wear the national team colors), thats the kind of maturity am talking about and what about our very own Moses who played with the vision of an experienced player. The midfield was a total mess, look at Akumu fearing to ask for balls and always standing with the opponent, what about Wise asking for the balls but giving mis-passes. We need stability in the mid and that maybe through Gatusso (has he reformed?)and there goes my argument why depend on 2 to 3 players, they will auction the club to the highest bidder. Thats now where the officials come in and if they have been watching our games and they want quality it will not take magic for them to see the need to urge the coach to look for quality players in the transfer period.

Poor, poor, poor the verdict is there.Does it appear the fans numbers is diminishing? Yes I can see some trouble ahead. Is it the coach, and if he is what alternatives are we looking at right now in the middle of the season. I would just urge Zico to read the writings on the wall. The team is not playing, they are just somehow, somehow, and mark my words, chalking up some points. You cannot live like that, there will come a time, when you realize your luck is no more. Get a team that plays football, to win, and for the fans. Kwani was it not the case only last season? Otherwise to supporters, patience, patience, one thing we must agree is that this season the league is truly tough. But it can be done.

So we must be patient for as long as he’s around, it takes time. Thats why you are talking about former passes and body language coz some players are on transit while others are establing themselves.

  • The reason Bandari were so much in arms when we scored is because they knew we could not find the net in open play.I felt so bad,coz i know Baraza and Sofapaka will teach us a very good lesson on Wednesday night and that will mark the end of Zedi in office. We need a coach with Man Management skills, someone who can unite the players and instill that winning mentality in players.

Finally,i think some officials are taking advantage of the club.how can some officials travel by air to Mombasa yet our players travel by town service star bus to Mombasa? How comes we only raised Ksh 500,000 last saturday?

Ma fans, I see a rejuvinated Gor come Wednesday against Sofacat. Talking about the quality of players, I think we are are not being sincere, because it is almost the entire squad that completed last season as runners ups. Talk about form or something else but not quality. League ni ngumu, just look at weekend matches. It is not for faint hearted. Leopards changed coach yet they keep loosing moreover at home – Mumias to a team Kogallo hammered 3 -0. So lets be patient. Rush not in changing Zico.

  • i think it is premature to start blaming the coach virtually on everything that is happening on the pitch. Infact he is the best suited to comment on the game. He knows the system he has employed and so on and so forth.

I think it is high time k’ogalo fans learn to be patient. Go to the stadium and enjoy the game. Period. As to who in the Gor club will wear the national shirt is the sole prerogative of the coach. Kudos again our boys for collecting maximum points on saturday.

Ive always defended you in times of trouble. Ive always been there for you when the ungrateful part of us bayed for your resignation. God knows that I defended you with all my might. But today, I am sorry to say that Ive changed my mind….
Zico, its not that I hate you. Its not that I wish you ill. Ive just realised that the ungrateful part of us will never see the light unless you resign. Yes, good man please resign. That’s the only way to prove to some of us that its not your fault that Kogalo is in this mess. Its not your fault that nowadays, we win by slim margins. Zico, its not your fault.
The ungrateful part of us have failed to accept things the way they are. They still bank on last years performance to predict our future. They forget that Blackberry is gone. Baldwin is gone too. What does this mean? It means that the current squad is weak in terms of striking compared to the previous one.But they have refused to see beyond their noses. They have turned away from the truth. They are allergic to patience. They cant wait for the transfer window to allow you fetch better players for the second leg. Good man, please resign.
Please resign so that they may go back to their old habits of heckling coaches out of the stadium. Please resign so that they may go back to the days of internal wrangles,it seams that they miss those moments dearly. Please resign so that they might taste the bitterness of relegation wars….Please resign so that they may discover the truth that….it wasn’t your fault.
    Zico, please resign.

They claim that you had ample time to sign better players. They are forgetting that you signed Odera, who was by that time the second top scorer in KPL. And even before the season started, they were all crazy about him. They couldn’t wait for the season to start considering the fact that he had already proved himself in the pre season friendly matches. They even went a step further to nickname him “Alcatel”
Now tell me Zico, is is your fault that this young lad’s game changed abruptly? Did you advice him not to kick the ball into the net? I don’t think so.
You really wanted the best for us that’s why you signed him.

@MEJJAH OMBITHO, I agree with you, Zico bought the best player as at the end of last season. Ezekiel Odera was rated one of the best striker last season. Denis Wise, was one of the players behind City Star success in the previous seasons. Collins Omondi was very outstanding in Mahakama defense despite them being relegated. Surely what do these guys want. I think they are irritants who should be ignored. Zico please stay put.

@Kosero, you have advised Zico to stay put. This is wrong advise at this time Zico has lost fans’ confidence including myself. I lost confidence in him long time ago last season when he gave away two games against Sofapaka and City Stars by poor fielding. Is Gor Mahia the only team that Zico can coach? Good riddance. Let him try his luck in other clubs and may be Harambee Stars which is also looking for a professional coach. I still remember Zico during Leslie Okudo’s time when he was part of the team that betrayed Gor Mahia in Moi Golden Cup semi finals. He was the captain of the team and was expelled by Okudo’s office and the following game GM defeated Utali by a bigger margin.

    I am not happy with what’s going on but personally I do not AND WILL NOT recomend coach Zico to resign. He should not but he should look for ways of revamping the striking which is the poorest department; that can only happen in the transfer window in June. Guys, I am asking you whom do you have in mind? You cannot shout resign ,resign without proposing able replacements? What you are asking for might be worse than the situation we are in now, which only needs a few amends? The club’s history is awash with coaches who have suffered the acrimony of being heckled and shoved out unceremoniously.SHAME. Am I reading some betrayal somewhere? Must the club be distabilised,for what reasons, could there be some unseen hands behind somethings? Genuine supporters would surely exhibit some civility in a situation like this.It is your right to criticize but also encourage the team and the management by giving constructive suggestions.   • The problem is not 100% the making of Zico guys at this point in time and i will keep repeating that as many times as i can. We are focusing on the wrong tree i would rather we all look at the problem in totality my brothers. These include;
    1. The quality of players is a major problem in as much as we keep saying they are the players we had last season. People keep forgetting that last season we had Blackberry who was a key player but now Zico is forced to move Kevo to play as an attacker instead of his more familiar role as a winger where he is lethal with his left foot. Gatusso a key player last season has not featured in some of the key games due to discplinary issues. The rest of the players have deeped in form which makes me wonder are they really the worried about their performance coz there is no change they seem casual.
    2. There is a disconnect between the fans, officials and the team coz information is hard to come buy on what is going on. When officials and the technical bench (coach) resort to use unofficial means “media” to answer the fans then there is a problem. We need to be updated consistently on why certain things are not the way they are through the correct channel “the clubs official website” so we can critique the comments anf get prompt feedback.
    3. Greed is eating into the club and this is evident from the gate charges and this is not sustainable. I once said the club should think of recruiting new members and maintaining them (think volume) and this will come through reasonble gate charges, no wonder the crowd is beginning to thin out coupled with the poor display.
    4. We have an official sponsor “TUZO” in the bag but does anyone hear from the officials what the contract entails coz i still hear there are disputes regarding the rights to the jersey or was the deal meant to be secretive to the benefit of brokers.
5.What do the officials think of the performance of each individual player vis-a-vis the overall objective of the club to win the premier league? As far as i know if an employee is not equal to the task assigned to them the employer has the right to warn him say three times and on the fourth time if no improvement the sack. The club is carrying too many joyriders and it is a high time the club bites the bullet and either sack them or loan them over to other clubs.

I want to close by saying so far we have been lucky Zedi but for how long? Please lets not wait to be embarrased by being hammered by the more skilled teams coz so far we still have not met the big boys.

I agree with waxme that the problem is the quality of the players that we have at GM.But how did this problem come about? remember during offseason Zico did not have time to look at the players he was buying as i recall he was busy with Harambee Stars. I also have a problem with Zico’s tactics pls anyone there is no systematic build up in our game anymore we have one playing style and it aint working. Lastly if the situation were to improve then i suggest we loan out below par players and bring in One tall defender ie pascal, a good ball controller with good defensive skills in the midfield finally a proven pacy striker i would suggest Jimmi Bagaye. so far it is by God’s grace that we are up there, by any chance if GM goes for cecafa championships how far do u think they can go?

Jakojera, you are on the right track. Suggest even if someone will not agree with you, thats opening a debate. Lets go now. What do you think of a strike force of Kevo, Lavatsa,Paul Were, Bagaye and Moses Odhiambo and Colo in the midfield? Thats a killer machine isn’t it?Indiscipline is nothing new with the youth, how you talk to them is what matters. Start thinking somebody.

  • Finally someone has seen what i have been saying all along its about the quality and the depth we have. I can assure you teams like Tusker and Sofapaka are not driven like we are by the massive fan base rather by the quality and depth now imagine if both had the fan base like we have what impact will they have, massive i say. We are lucky coz we have a stable fan base and have the opportunity to make amends in the open transfer period and sign quality players. This will be the period to build a phenomenon team, a time for them to gel and ultimately challenge for both the league title and play continental next year. @Jakojera i stand by my statement which you seem to have agreed there is no point of having many players who you will never use i would rather have 25 quality players who i can pay well than 30 of which a mojority are a liability. Where i blame Zedi and he is now reaping from his mistake is failure to actively participate in the recruitment of quality players in the open season. As a coach it is his responsibility and the buck stops with him to recruit players with a winning mentality otherwise it will end badly for him, please hid this advise Zedi.

@Waxme I suggest that the under perfoming players or those whom their forms have dipped players be taken on loan and the ones we know are finished should be relieved of their contracts, @ ja thur gi ji, That combination is guan! we just need a tall defender mr Tough guy in the league right now it is pascal and again one tall defensive midfielder with a heavy build with either bagaye or were to compliment what we have. Mourinho style tight defense, tight midfield scoring wont be a problem. We need tough people to wear our opponents down. Teddy nowadays avoids tackles the boy seems to be hiding an injury.
About the tiredness of the players i have a good suggestion I am an athlete and there is something we have in the market right now it is legal and very efficient in giving players strength through out the game i wont disclose it coz some of us(fake fans) might use it against us.plis give me suggestions on the players that fit in the positions av mentioned apart from the ones av indicated

Gor fans never cease to amaze. KPL selct 11 of last season was made of players who are now in Gor. Ezekiel Odera, Denis Wise, Colins Omondi. These were recruited by Zico. Now I even hear others talking about Jimmy Bagaye, who played for Gor before switching to City Stars. This is a player who according to fans was a baggage then. Now he is a star, you want him back. If only we would have been patient with such a player, he would still be in Gor. What is wrong with JoGor yawa. @paw akuche, we are not competing on the number of games one attend. I have toned down but our coach should be able to listen to fans comments/concerns. We all mean well for the club. We need to win our matches with with GM styles not on lady luck. We need our style of last season. On recruitment, the coach and technical bench may consider signing two experienced players each in Sony and City Stars. We need to go back to our former roots of unearthing players from the unknown obscurity just like recruitment of Blackberry. Let us loan players who are excess supply to other teams in either Nationwide or KPL clubs.

Its true may be things have not worked for Zico.. really i have nothing personal against him why would i? But i have always mentioned two things consistently..
1.He seems to have been sidelining some players who did well last season and i have always thought with berry and ngwa gone the squad only needed strengthening and not overhaul, maybe we wouldn’t be talking about quality we have..now people like kitawi seems to be out of form.
2.I also blamed him for alleged drug abuse in technical bench ranks and playing unit not personally though but on players up bringing and eventual lucrative transfers.

But reading on another link yesterday i was so much surprised to read that a branch met with a former GM coach and eventually organised to cause chaos so as to replace zico with him..Yaye fans…

Zico must go or else…..Kogalo is doomed!!
I’ve never seen a disjointed Kogalo playing without strategy like we’ve been presented with lately. No one doubts that Tony can be a good midfielder (he has shown a few glimpses) but for heaven’s sake, NOT ON THE WINGS!! Zico, why consistently play him on the right wing? You have completely killed our right wing. As funs you have short-changed us and we look embarrased each time we troupe to the stadiums whole heartedly to support our beloved club only to leave without our heads low after a poor display. You have also taken up small egoistic arguments with players jeorpardising there chances of playing. As a manager you need to be a leader, and leaders listen to their people. You must learn to take criticism. You cut the figure of a dictator, that doesn’t work in modern management. We don’t see Kitawi, Kiplagat, Collins Okoth, Makori anymore, yet we see them warming the bench each match. What happened to the team that took Gor to 2nd spot last season? We were made to believe they were still very young, did they become old overnight? Are you obsessed with getting rid of the team that took us to the brink of glory? is it because you had nothing to do with their signings? Are you jealous of Siang’a’s eye for talent? Why don’t you work with them and take them and the club to the next level? You didn’t really sign many good players during the off season, other than Lavatsa and Moses Odhiambo. You probably talk of Gor being in a better position this year than it was last year, but as funs we know we could have been topping the league right now. If we continue playing the way we are, we will not finish in the top half at the end of the season. Then again, we are not even playing well! Bandari outplayed us with 10 men for the whole of 2nd half. Congo was better than us except for the moments we scored. We were very lucky to beat Stima and KCB at City after they dominated large swathes of the game. GOR is bigger than an individual, do us a favour and step down so that the management can look for a better manager.

  • The call to sack coach Zico is premature

On the eve of a crucial KPL match between Gor Mahia and Sofapaka at the Nyayo national stadium, I also join our chairman, Ambrose Rachier in supporting our now embattled tactician . The calls for his sacking is premature, uncalled for and lacks credence. Am not just supporting coach Zico just for the sake of it. The sacking of a coach every time he loses bring instability to the team and ultimately fracture relations with the sponsors.

Just before the ink dried from the pen our club signed with TUZO, the biggest sponsorship deal in Kenya football, our fans seem not to have abandoned their old bad habits. That is hooliganism. The last weekend fracas after the Gor- Rangers clash is sending wrong signals to our sponsors. Our fingers remain crossed as we await a verdict from IDAC.

We cannot be fans and officials at the same time. Gor fans are proofing to be the most impatient in the world. I wish to call for patience and sombriety even as we seek good results from our coach. I dont think coach Zico has signed a performance contract. For those who care to know, Zedekiah Otieno has done great duty for this club. Indeed he has personal emotional attachment to the club. Those of you who are calling for his sacking can not enumerate what you have done for the club. The only other coach who will match his credentials is Francis Kimanzi of Sofapaka. To attract a coach of such calibre to our fold requires some degree of civility and decorum. I wish we have both.

Thank you and God bless K’ogalo.

@ole lelerue, The problem here is not the fans but the management, the coach and the mediocre players………not the fans pleease!! we are just frustrated by the poor results shown by the entire team,Our gate charges are so high for what? for mediocre display? is that the fans cause too. We have been loyal and still are, above all very passionate about the affairs of this club……………..has the chairman ever called a meeting to air out certain issues that have been of concern in this forum with fans? Never! This pressure is mounting coz the management is behaving like a stone and if they cant listen to the discontentment from the fans voices then we are headed for more trouble. Last week to begin with, did u notice that the fan attendance has dropped? and that is just but the beginning for the umpteenth time pls someone in the mgt talk to the fans and explain what is going on?

I will be at the stadium tonight to support the team against Sofapaka, aNd even if we lose I will not shout at anybody; and I will not throw anything at anybody because it is silly behaviour. Come and cheer the team all of you genuine supporters and even after today continue with the same support. Things will surely improve. LETS ALL REDUCE THE SHOUTING AND HECKLING;AND MOST IMPORTANT DO NOT THROW ANY THING AT ANYBODY AS IT DOES NOT HELP ANYTHING; THIS WILL ONLY DESTROY THE CLUB.

  • my brother jakojera 9, i feel your frustration but cannot justify your continued attack on our hardworking coach and his players. What do mean by poor results? This is a marked improvement from last season during the same time. Today’s match beetween Gor and Sofaka is the eleventh and iam optimistic we are going to run away with one point if not bagging the maximum points. Sofapaka are coming to this game in high spirits after beating st’ eloi lupopo of DRC ( not sure of spelling), an african champions league group stage match. Gor on the other hand beat Bandari last weekend and therefore we expect to continue their winning spree.

On the issue of high gate charges, i will not delve into the matter. Is ksh 100 for terraces too high? Do you want free passes? Are you really loyal to your club? Well , I leave the power of time to pass judgement on you!

To build a winning team demand long hours of practice, single minded concentration and tough sacrifices. Gor mahia ( mayiengo mayiengo piny)-no idea what this means, is no exception. This can only happen if we all (fans, technical bench, players and officials) clearly understand our roles in the club.

I repeat. We have selfless officials, competent secretariat ( i guess its running by now), harworking technical bench and committed players. Excuse me, and you, a very loyal fan. As you prepare to go to the stadium today, I plead to you and the entire k’ogalo fans to know that our club is bigger than an individual.

To sum up with the words our club anthem , k’ogalo timbe tudo yuak ni.
Thank you and God bless K’ ogalo.

Pareyio! do i sound like one who would think of 100/- as expensive? May be to you it could be xpensive am talking about those that are paying for the VIP section so get ur facts right other teams are not charging that high.

if they want to practice they can go to Nationwide League. This is the big time no jokes here!!! If the coach and the mediocre players cant take the heat let them shift out and am not sorry about that!

Let me remind u that not all GM fans are hooligans but i agree with u that let no one vent his anger/frustration in a despicable manner……let us be calm. I can also notice that u feel that fans are angry and impatient which is true……….if u would be sitting in the stadium and listen to the way the fans are talking amongst themselves u wouldn’t be calling for time for practice but for solving the underlying issues(the dip in most players form, favoritism claims by the coach, Drug abuse claims, under hand deals in gate charges and mediocre pattern of play)

If we are in a better position than last year then it is purely because of luck! so far this season it is only in thika that they played well, the other games God help us!! U have to agree with me that GM for last season was far much stronger than what we have now and it will be tested tonight. Let us compare notes tomorrow!

I repeat, it’s not about our current position, it’s about where we would have been had the team carried the form of last season into this one. Expectations were set and they have to be met, or atleast we have to aim higher. Zico must avoid pettyness and view the Club as much BIGGER than his ego.

  • BETTER HALF A LOAF THAN NONE AT ALL.

Am sorry for my long comment. I salute our boys for securing a point in today’s match at Nyayo national stadium. I also pay special tribute to our fans for, as usual, turned up in large numbers and also for their mannerism throughout the match. In a scale of 10, I would give our boys 4.

My brother jakojera 9, i think you are making very wild allegations which you cannot substantiate. Ticketing is normally handled by Ticket Masters company. If u have any information of fraud, please volunteer it to them or KPL officials. With all due respect to you , I cannot impute improper motive to our coach, Zico.

Anyway, am proud to be associated with this club.
Thank you and God bless k’ogalo.

MY BRETHRENS,LET’S PRAY FIRST AIM HIGH AND STAY FOCUSED..!

A man had nothing for his family to eat;He had an old shotgun and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out and kill something for dinner. As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit and he shot at the rabbit and missed it. Then he saw squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel and missed it. As he went further, he saw a wild turkey in the tree and he had only one bullet, but a voice came to him and said, “Pray first, aim high and stay focused.”
However, at the same time, he saw a deer which was a better kill. He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But, then he saw a rattlesnake between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattlesnake. Still, the voice said again to him, “I said ‘Pray, aim high and stay focused.”
So, the man decided to listen to the voice. He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree and shot the wild turkey. The bullet bounced off the turkey and killed the deer. The handle fell off the gun and hit the snake in the head and killed it. And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond. When he stood up to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer and a turkey to eat. The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man listened to God.
Moral of the story: Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high in your goals, and stay focused on God. Never let others discourage you concerning your past. The past is exactly that: “the past.” Live every day one day at a time, and remember that only God knows our future and that he will not put you through any more than you can bear. Do not look to man for your blessings, but look to the doors that only He has prepared in advance for you in your favor. Wait, be still and patient: keep God first and everything else will follow.

Just share this with other fans in order that someone might be blessed.

HAVE A BLESSED LIFE, BLESSED GAMES AND BLESSED WINS……..!
