Gor Mahia return to domestic league
Gor Mahia will take on Wazito FC a they return to the domestic league. The match will be played at Machakos on Wednesday. In addition to the league, Kogalo will use the match to build up for their return leg against SuperPort United.
Coach Dylan Kerr knows that his side holds a slim lead against the South African side. But defending such a slim lead is not in the cards for Kogalo
“This (win) is not enough. We came up against a very different side but we have to go there with a positive attitude, the way we did in Esperance,” Kerr said in a post-match interview.
Kogalo will however have to play without defensive midfielder Ernest Wendo who has been suspended due to multiple yellow cards.
“He is a big loss to the team but we still have great players who have what it takes to fill in his shoes. We have a match against Wazito FC (on Wednesday) which we will use to see who is best placed to replace Wendo,” Kerr Citizen Sports.
Supersport coach Kaitano Tembo, who celebrated the narrow loss on Sunday, is confident that his side will overturn the 1-0 deficit.
“I mean take nothing away from them. A team that goes to Tunisia and loses 1-0 to Esperance is a formidable team and we can’t take them for granted. They worked hard and deserved the victory,” Tembo said after the match.
“They have a decent team and we have seen what they are all about today. They will be difficult to break down in the return leg but we are quite formidable at home and we will be able to get better results playing on a good pitch,” he told michezoafrika.
Tembo nevertheless thinks that Kogalo are a decent team.
Wazito
Against Wazito Kogalo will be facing off against one of their former coaches Frank Ouna. His familiarity with Kogalo has given him confidence.
“This is a fight between David and Goliath, but I have a group of players who are very dedicated and that gives me confidence that we can deal with them (Gor),” Ouna said.
Wazito are currently in 12th place having won three games.
The EC and the fans should also be put on notice that match allowances and bonuses are also piling up.
Hoping that we will qualify for CAF group stages and leverage the windfall to pay off our huge debts is sickness of the highest order……………………

I must admit. The comment by Tembo the Super Sport Coach that Gor is a descent Team that must not be taken for granted and further qualified his sentiments by saying “…a team that goes to Tunisia to play Esperance and looses with 1 goal…” Gor has stamped its authority on the continental arena. Given a critical look, Gor has raised other footballing nations in Africa’s eye brows. One might argue, that the journey is not over because the second leg is coming. That is fine. From North to South Africa, Gor is on people’s lips. This is what stirs up the ego and the desire to conquer in each player. A case in point When Wellington leaped off the pitch in our domestic game just before we played Esperrence, is like to some the back line was punched. Joash has come in and is as solid as a rock. I
am sighting this just to bring out the champion in each player. My judgement of the Team is, they are tired of being refferred to as domestic Champions year in year out. They are raring and roaring to go. This in itself gives a good footing the face the second leg.

From our game against Wazito I noticed a few things. 1) All of our players can now hold their own against any opposition 2) Our strikers for some reason are in a hurry to score and do not take their time hence lack of sharpness in front of goal. Odera of Ingwe though slow is usually very clinical and so was John Baraza (now Sofapaka coach) 3) Looks like Guilkan has a ‘permanent’ shoulder injury. This limits his aggressiveness 4) Our defence is very good

Momanyi was my man of the match…very solid in a makeshift Gor defence that had Mieno as a central defender.
Guikan seems to be slowed down by his shoulder injury.His touches were good but his movement and aggressiveness was missing.
Congrats to the team…inspite of the fact that it was an understrength side we still managed to grab the 3 points!!
What is FKF or KPL doing about the state of playing surfaces of the fields?.The speed or flow of play is slow cause in some situations players control the ball before they pass or tap it in for an easy goal.
Watching SS v’s Pirates, Pirates are just 2 Good.I believe that is the pitch GMFC is going to play SS , I would love Kerr to justify his kuteta abt our pitches by playing purposeful football.Congrats for dispatching wazito.
