Gor Mahia run over Kapenguria Heroes

Having received a reprieve despite loosing to Congo United in the previous round of the FKL cup, Gor Mahia took no chances this time and put 6 goals past Kapenguria heroes. On this day, Gor Mahia fielded mostly second string players starting with goalie Ronny Kagunzi.

The heroes shocked Kogalo when they took an early lead following a defensive lapse. Gor Mahia came back storming with goals from Moses Odhiambo (2), Dennis Odhiambo, Tony Onyango, Dennis Okoth, John Kiplagat.

Gor Mahia will now face off with West Kenya Sugar on September 4 in Nairobi. West Kenya Sugar were loosing finalists in 2010.

  • I learned through classic 105 that we are playing Sony sugar tomorrow. Why was this fixture placed on a Thursday and only a day after our match with Kapenguria 6? I think it’s time KPL take Gor matches and fans seriously.

Omera, give us more analysis not a bare to the bone report of what happened. what was the squad, where was the match played, how was the attendance, how were the goals scored?

Were you even at the stadium or are you reporting “hearsay” ?

This article leaves a lot to be desired!

Gor forwards are still not impressive enough. Especially Ochomo from whom we expect so much in consideration of his size. He should learn to hit hard shots, and I mean hard shots!

  • Looks like the pressure has started weighing on us. The GM Management through a news conference is calling for the postponement of the Sony game, again. They are also voicing their resentment on the high charges whenever GM visits. Looks like we have become a cash cow for some teams. But in an economy where prices are deregulated I doubt whether we can win that one. Imagine a non-exitence centre stand in Thika and Afraha costing 500/=. No wonder even their fans give those matches a miss. And 300/= for grass stands at Thika, even Harambee at Kasarani we don’t pay that much. It’s called daylight robbery. It’s good we play some of these teams only once.

its good that kip and lucky dube, prooved that they DESERVE to make the first team.hopefully zico wil give these two talented lads alongside macheda(if he’s still around),a chance back in the fist team.but again why on earth are we playing 2games in 48hours ,in two different venues almost 350km apart.the, phrase ‘we used the reserves in the fkl cup’,to me is ‘hogwash’some one is sleeping on the job,and sleeping heavily!

    “THAT WAS A MIS-MATCH”

I did manage to attend the match at city stadium yesterday. The only noticeable regular players that participated were ANGUYO,LUCKY DUBE, WEKESA , LAVATSA , AKUMU & DENNIS OKOTH while KIPLAGAT & MAKORI were introduced in the second half.

But by all standards it was a match that GOR can not use to gauge the playing unit since the rival team was far much below the KPL standards.

My take from the match is that if the kind of players i saw being given playing time is what the writer meant as second string or on a better term the “Bench Power” then i wish to comment that “IT IS A VERY WEAK ONE”. No wonder all the inconsistency in our performance during KPL matches especially when our main players get serious injuries.

TECHNICAL BENCH should build on bench power otherwise you can not WIN THE LEAGUE based on the “SUPER ELEVEN”.

“MOST OF THE FANS WERE SURPRISED WHY ODERA was left on the bench through out the match. Despite our desparate plea to the bench to field the lad. Its Lavatsa used the match to test on how much he has regained his fitness. But ODERA should have been fielded so that he can regain his confidence on the pitch.

    GOD BLESS MAHIA.

For me “n hopefully 4 Zico” the game had some insights
1.kip,roy okal n the bold headed lad in midfield proved they r 1st team material
2.K’galo fans r soccer sarvy ask tony they advised him that when in the penatly area he shld shoot for goal instead of passing,he followed our advice n scored
3.if thats is the calibre of our 2nd eleven then believe me theres no competetion for 1st players hence no competetive training for matches
4 Wekesa’s tactical blunder led to a mised penalty being retaken n scored

  • …..Guys, I played against Kiplagat in high school around 07′ and I know his strengths and clearly you all saw the fiery shot he had with the ball found in the back of the net . . .. he is equally frustrated by this guy called Zico( same to Lucky Dube)! Where on earth does a coach frustrate his players? . . . Luckily, Iraq football team has approached Zico to become their coach . . . .we hope he goes for good and eat the oil money . . . .Past Oyugis enroute to Sony to watch Gor match . . . .finally, … . .how many guys know this man; Lesley Okudo? . . .Rachier out;Lesley inn

You should join the “AWAY BRANCH” we can work with you at all cost to achieve our objective.

Are you still there? I thought you told Pod antie that you are quitting or was it a tactical retreat.

I captured the below statement from your comments when the issue of our performance was a matter of concern and the debate was very lively.

“From now onwards, I want to focus my energy on supporting my beloved club. They badly need that support. Spare not effort”. For God and my club Kogallo

@OGANGO TRAILER, I did not quit supporting Kogallo but responding to the Pod antie of this blog. They talk too much, they know too much yet doing very little for the club. Otherwise am at Kanga High school on my way to Awendo Green. Lets meet there. For God and my beloved club Kogallo.

  • At this point of the league what is required is soberness in order to strategize on how to tackle the rest of the games. We will still lose games (though I hope not) but what matters is how we learn from the loses. I would hate to read the normal personalised attacks on the persons of the team members. Personally I believe that all is not lost

jst 5 games ago,we were leading the log with 3points(provided we won our game in hand and the six point match againts tusker)but today,we are 5points adrift the leaders with no game in hand.to make matters worse, only 3points separate us with 6th placed sofapaka, and 8points with 11th placed thika.zico, you have served us well both as an illustrious full back and now as a head coach.i dont want you to leave today or even tommorow or even after the next game we shall loose or draw, coz we need continuity and we also want you to finish the work you started at the beginning of the season. But coachez, when the season ends do the honourable thing-‘step aside’.in so doing you will go with our blessings.but if u decide to pull a ‘gaddaffi’ on us,we shall deal with you how we know best. it waz good doin business with you!chop chon!

  • Ni yule Pamzo we literally chased from GM. Do we ever learn? We should be like the organised clubs. They basically agree with the coach that their contract will not be renewed if some standards are not met such that you leave on mutual agreement. Why is that when AFC is doing better (and more settled) we are the opposite?

  • I hope there were no ugly scenes with Hoologanism after the loss !

  • We are going nowhere with zico. We lost three crucial points due to coach not understanding our style of playing. Where are the former crsps and sleak passes we used to play? I’m borred and tired with zico’s style of game plan. Gor Mahia will go nowhere with zico. We need to approach teams in UK, Spain, Germany, France or Denmark to get one of their coaches to come and help Gor Mahia. Zico is known with destruction of careers of the playing unit and Gor pattern.

  • Let’s target a top five finsh and rebuild the team (the technical and the management) for next season. The players are good and let’s not destruct them in the few reamining matches. As @Paul puts it let’s handle defeat with dignity and forget hooliganism. Unfortunately for some of us that’s not one of their virtues. Some of us tend go to destruct-mode when things are not going our way. I fear for that and stand to be corrected

I HAD WARNED THAT THIS FKL CUP WOULD COST US THE LEAGUE BUT AFTER BEING KNOCKED OUT WE WERE SNEAKED IN AS THE “BEST LOSER”.IT IS APPARENT THAT ITS THE GREEN ARMY WHICH HAS BROUGHT GOR THIS FAR AS OUR COACHES CV IS NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT.A TEAM WHICH CAN BARELY SCORE A GOAL AT HOME HAS NO BUSINESS WINNING THIS LEAGUE.THE GOR OF EIGHTIES USED TO HAMMER TEAMS AWAY BY EVEN FIVE GOALS,THIS TEAM CAN HARDLY SCORE 2 AGAINST CONGO UTD & BANDARI WHO ARE ROOTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE.
    THE WAY FORWARD;
1)WE HAVE THE MOST TALENTED SQUAD IN THIS LEAGUE BUT LED BY ONE OF THE MOST CLUELESS AND I DARE SAY GREEDY COACH AROUND.WE NEED A FULL TIME COACH WITH A POLISHED CV TO MOULD THE TALENTED INDIVIDUALS INTO A WINNING TEAM PREFERABLY FOREIGN WHO HAS NO TIES WITH LOCAL POLITICS AND WILL BE GUIDED BY A CONTRACT TO DELIVER A WINNING FORMULA AND THE LEAGUE.
2)WORK ON MODALITIES TO SPONSOR OUR FORMER PLAYERS E.G AUSTIN ODUOR,AWILO OR PRO TO ATTEND COACHING COURSES TO ENSURE WE HAVE QUALIFIED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF TO RUN THE CLUB FROM YOUTH LEVEL TO THE MAIN TEAM.THIS IS BETTER THAN THE ABSURD IDEA OF BUYING ZEDDY A CAR.
3)ORGANIZE A RAFFLE TO RAISE MONEY TO BUILD A CLUB HOUSE OR AN ACADEMY WITH A GYMN ,BOARDING FACILTIES AND QUALIFIED BACKROOM STAFF TO LAY A SUSTAINABLE FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB
4)ESTABLISH A SECRETARIAT AND ELECT QUALIFIED OFFICIALS TO RUN THE CLUB.

It is plain and simple and it is all there for everyone to see…..how many games have we won away this season? we are loosing to tail pullers…..for God’s sake is this really a championship winning side? Is the coach really qualified to handle this team to the summit of the league and eventually win it? Does he really need to double up as the Harambee coach? Who is responsible for advising the technical bench on the scientific preparation of players? It still beats my logic how they could allow the players to travel by bus from Nairobi to awendo on Wednesday and make them play on thursday are they serious that they could get anything from this match?

A serious and well run team would have done the following:
all the first team players who had nothing to do with the Tuesday match would have travelled to awendo by Tuesday in the evening they have the first training session on wednesday have another session then wait for the game on Thursday.

For the loss today I blame two people the COACH and the person responsible for the logistics for failing to plan well for the match….instead choosing to start kelele na KPL about the congestion of league fixtures…….AJONY

jakojera,i questioned the rationale of playing two games in three days on this very blog.indeed we are not a serious team, because no serious team plays two competitive games in 48hrs.we just cant seem to get the basics right.if we cant beat the likes of lowly city stars and congo utd, what on earth makes us think that we can beat dc motema pembe, canon younde or raja casablanca come february?our detractors (and they are so many)always dismiss us, as empty debez, loud-mouthed,with more heat but no light.Thanx to an inefficient technical bench and a lethargic and moribund office, maybe our detractors are right. Our players have become the whipping boys and the masters of draws, while we the fans have become evryones’ laughing stock.

Oh! My goodness!! The Schedule was too tight. Way too tight even for The Almighty Gor Mahia. Jakojera 9 and Arrumtiddi you hit the nail on the head. The logistics and the schedule play a part in Kogalos loss.Crossing Great Rift Valley and and heading to the sugarland was not easy on the boys. The fatigue factor cannot be ruled out!
