Gor Mahia have started negotiations with champions Tusker FC in a bid to re-sign troubled midfielder Peter ‘Pinchez’ Opiyo
Troubled Tusker midfielder Peter Opiyo is headed back to his former club Gor Mahia after failing to nail a starting role at the league champions.
Tusker coach Robert Matano has exclusively revealed to Goal.com that talks have began between the brewers and Gor Mahia after the player asked to leave in the June transfer window.
“Opiyo asked to leave and we cannot hold onto him. It has nothing to do with my relationship with him because even last year he had wanted to leave but was prevailed upon to stay.”
There has been reports of a frosty relationship between Matano and the player, who has not played for close to two months.
When reached for comment, Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana confirmed there are talks to bring back Opiyo but insisted they are still in the initial stages and no decision has been made yet.
“The talks have not gone far as he is one among the many players we are looking at in a bid to strengthen our midfield.”
“We have had a lot of problems in this department which we are keen to rectify in the second leg,” added the official.
Opiyo played for Gor Mahia in the 2010 season when the team finished runners-up in the premiership race to eventual winners Ulinzi Stars.
Apart from Gor, he has also played for Thika United in the local league and was at one time in the national team Harambee Stars.
Ooh Laa La a!!…”SALVAGE THEIR CAREER FROM LION OF MA-DEVIL”
Get “PINCHEZ” and “OYOO” the soonest possible away from that beast called MA-FIVE or MA-PUNCH before he destroys their career. For our football to flourish as a country we must know how to build and guide this up coming young talents.
The likes of Anthony Gathu (GOR),Vincent Odongo (Mathare) Patilah omotto and Edwin seda of AFC are future national team material that needs guidance and not destructive approach like the one from self claimed “LION” of SATANIC SOCCER.
This is what i hate with some of our local coaches and their thick-headed approach at getting personal with this young talents to the extent of crucifying their career.
Matano should know that mistake is to human and what he is currently doing to BONNY , PINCHEZ and OYOO will come to haunt him out of TUSKER. Coaches come and go. SHETANI..!!!
This the best news i have heard. Another player gor need to call up is Odongo of mathare, he is a gor player just by looking at the way he plays.
I pray the talks on Opiyo materialise. Cliffod Miheso is another valuable player we need to bring to Gor. @Ogango Trailer do not condemn coach Matano. Such situations are everywhere even Europe.
@ 1 OGANGO TRAILER and @ 2 George Ochoro you are spot on. Let us get Peter Opiyo.
However, as far as signings are concerned, I’m afraid we talk too much and when the actual signings happen, we do the opposite. Out of the 7 signings we made last season, we are only able to make use of three players and this is a waste of resources.
This guy is aplay maker lets get him and some other two midfielders we will be home and dry.Defence is ok and striking once kiongera is back it is just waw!
@ 4 WAB, how I echo your concern, the Executive Community is really the main undoing of this Great Club, why do you need 14 officials to run a club of 25 players. Most of the players we’ve signed are also on loan, and I suspect are only released to K’galo coz they are carrying injuries.
I urge fans to reduce the officials of the club to at most 5 in the upcoming elections. To me this is the first key step to rejuvenate Mighty K’galo.
Imagine currently we are no.7 in the table, our style of play has deteriorated.
On thuggerism, this issue is mutating into something VERY UGLY. Is there an orchestrated move to target innocent K’galo fans? The Muthurwa & Molo incidents are very fishy.
What does the “passmaster” himself say? Does he want to come back home? Pinchez I repeat my earlier counsel: don’t cross to Ogwang’. They will only lock you in the Den to ensure you don’t land in GM hands. At Ogwang’ I assure you you SHALL not be fielded because of so many factors. Remember Charles Okwemba, Martin Imbalambala, Patillah Omoto and Floribert Ndayisaba are ably manning the Ogwang’ midfield. Go there and you will warm the bench to oblivion like Noah Abich, Eric Masika and Victor Ochieng’ to mention but a few. Come back home to the team that transformed you into the dynamo, the meastro, the icon, the future legend, the acclaimed passmaster that you are.
We get Piches and Francis Ouma and half of our problems will be over. We need these two to assist Danny and Rama and then we wait for Wiper and Kiongera to heal
Ati Francis Ouma ? Please dont make people laugh bwana Dan.
What happened to the other Ugandan Mubiru whom were supposed to sign ?
@RIAGA this is how our officials are dissapointing us jst imagin that young lad spent a whole season last year at gor then at last he was sent away.what was the meaning of puting him in the team, that lad was sharper than evn this naija guy.

@Barefoot bandit i bliv the sole aim of signing players is to improve a team n not 2 deny them a chance 2 play 4 rivals, Masika featured prominently in our backline last season but his form has dipped since n fallen behind Modoh n Paco in the perking order,Victor ‘Sonyi junior’ time at Ingwe has been marred with endless injuries while Abich was brought as a cover 4 Edu.
@Bill Wabz hapo umeongea.
Amesha join Ingwe. Please look for another one. I’m sure we can still get a good local midfielder
What is our office doing i had opiyo was asking for only 400k and our office could just aford 250k,since efusi had the money they had there way, this days we dont even go to camp,we travel almost the same day we are playing hata kama ni mumias seriously where is the money going? that we cant even aford 400k
