Gor Mahia set for Egypt test
Gor Mahia will leave Nairobi for Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday for the first round, 1st leg match against ENNPI of Egypt. Gor Mahia will certainly be under no illusions about playing an Egyptian side. The track record of Kenyan teams against Egyptian sides has been abysmal with the exception of Sofapaka who eliminated Ismailia in 2011.
“This will now be the real challenge, playing against ENNPI. They have a better league and their budget is 15 times better than ours. “It will be a tough challenge, but we have to be prepared for them. We take each match at a time and put all our energies in it,” said coach Zdvarko Logarusic.
According to CAF article 27 rule 4, players who are sent off are to miss one match unless further sanctions are levied. In which case, Anthony Akumu should be eligible for the Cairo test. His presence will be much needed as Gor Mahia seek a good result away.
About ENNPI
ENPPI, a team sponsored by one of the largest Oil Companies in Egypt (Engineering for the Processing of Petrol Industries) are the defending Champions of the Egyptian Cup. In 2009 they reached the Semi Finals of the CAF confederations cup.
This past weekend, they played against African champions Al Ahly who needed a late goal to beat them 2-1. In the previous weekend, ENNPI thrashed Haras El Hodood 4-0 to take the league in the Egyptian league group A.
The good news for Gor Mahia is that Amr Zaki, who was signed by ENNPI for this cup campaign has recently left the club. Zaki has previously played in the premier league for Hull City and Wgan Athletic. he would have been a handful to deal with.
However Kogalo will still have to contend with Ivorian striker Vincent De Foneye. Another player to watch out for is midfielder Saleh Gomaa who played with the U-23 Egyptian team in last year’s Olympics Games.

As Gor Mahia we know only Zamalek and Al Ahly. Small teams like ENPPI are non-starters and don’t play at our level. They may have a 15m budget but that is their budget not ours. Us we have 160,000 budget but we make efficient use of it. K’Ogalo go out for a straight win. Carry your own food, your own cooks and expect a partisan and hostile referee, a hostile crowd and a very heavy military presence. That should however not intimidate you. I know they are already aware of Teddy and that he was red carded. They are also aware of Ivo Philip Mapunda ‘Ja.Towel’. They are also aware of my contributions in this blog post. In other words, they have done extensive research on us. But that not withstanding, they are still beatable and we shall go past them.

We may know Zamalek and Al Ahly but be aware these days there are no small teams and we cant go into a match underrating our opponents because they are not a big name team.We need to tread cautiously Barefoot Bandit!!!
@barefoot,the idea of carrying own food is good,another good thing about this match is that its going to be played in an empty stadium due to security concerns in Egypt.

Squad iko fit sana. Watch out for international AMR ZAKI who joined ENPPI in January this year; thats their greatest weapon against Kogalo. When is game Friday or Saturday?
Why is Amrouche and Olang raising hell, kwani what time was there for Gor players to turn out for Stars training and also train for the club? Is this not international match like the others? Wacheni ujuaji, ati Gor inasabotage H/Stars? Far from it gentlemen, think of other things to blame.

As I watched Muhoroni beat Mathare, there was nothing strange. infact if Oguda continue allowing more games in that shamba, i assure you we will realise more injuries and less of football. why would anyone think of playing a game watched by many through DSTV on such an unkept shamba? same applies to thika. i wish these two teams can finally look for a better pitch. You can hardly enjoy football.playing or watching!
If they play 4-5-1 the lone striker should be a speedy person: Lavatsa or Muzeyi.
Team needs to be careful. These Egyptian teams can score several goals rapidly in succesion. Just ask Ulinzi.
And they can really exploit mistakes.
The squad is good. Let us go out to attack. If we try defending we may lose or draw. Maybe we can play with two strikers upfront or convert both Lavatsa and Kiongera to play in flanks since they have the pace required to open up the defenders…I have confident we will win

@mash, from the preseason matches i attended mutiso is far from being noticed if that is the right term to use.ako chini sana.but i can’t judge him much coz I’ve not seen him play under pressure from fans.for the playing pattern let the coach decide coz he may choose any pattern to win like what happened with sofapaka.people complained that we were outplayed,does it matter really ?if we play our game and we lose we complain,jamaneni mwatakaje!our team is good and will always appreciate the outcome. In England when Jose mourinho came to Chelsea I was is fan,I followed him to inter milan and now in real Madrid.in Kenya I have been following a player abbey natty who gormahia fc signed from muhoroni youth of which am is fan but I have not seen him played since the signing zdvarko logarusic. Of cause am aware of the latest development,not even in Nairobi has he played,what is wrong…?.I wish the players that are going to Egypt success and God’s protection.I still think gormahia is missing something Abbey is a player so many fan wants to watch. @dansandie,its very unfortunate that u didnt have the privilege of watching abbey play even in a single game,those who attended the pre season know very well that all the players and new signings were tested both in muhoroni and sony awendo games and for sure the players who mananged to get noticed by the fans are currently in the playing squad.I know with time the others will be able to pick kogalo form and play their hearts out for the fans to cheer them or heckle them for coach to do a sub depending on how well they will be able to handle a massive crowd.know u may shine in other clubs but when u join the mighty team then other factors come to play.For my lovely team gor mahia
