Officials: John Pesa (vice chairman), Lordvick Aduda (CEO) and Kelvin Elegwa (FKF)

Both coaches confident

Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay is pleased with the effort being put forth by the players.

“I have loved the attitude shown by the players in training, I love the spirit and competitiveness and the passion as well. They definitely are ready to play for the team and market themselves in and out of the country. The match against Lobi is definitely going to be a better platform for them.” he said t goal.com

Oktay is confident of going through but is leaving nothing to chance.

“As I had said earlier, we are 90% through, but the job will be fully done after we get a result that we need to progress,” concluded Oktay.

His Lobi Stars counterpart Solomon Ogbeide for his part has vowed to fix the issues that caused his sides dismal performance in Nairobi.
We didn’t perform up to expectations in Kenya and this we have been to establish as we get set for the second leg this weekend and we have held series of discussions to ensure that we do not have a repeat performance,” Ogbeide told goal.com

Ogbeide wants his team to forget the Nairobi defeat and focus on the task at hand.

“The first thing we must do is to put the defeat behind us and strive to stage a comeback at home. We know that we are in a tight corner and that we must score goals to progress. The players are aware of the task at hand and the technical crew is doing their part to ensure that we get the needed result that will take us to the next stage.”

He also said there is nothing special about Gor Mahia.

“It wasn’t as if our opponents are a fantastic side but we performed poorly in Nairobi and we had to admit that. We are back home and are hopeful of a fine result that should be enough to take us to the group stage. We have shown that we have the character to come back with the way we played against the Cameroonians (UMS de Loum) in the last fixture.” concluded Ogbeide

Wait till they come face-to-face with Musymo’s Tony Nyadundo then they will realize that Gor Mahia is fantastic and they will have no choice, but to accept and move on.

Ja’Asego things have never gone wrong when you get involved. You have done a fantastic job so far just the way K’Ogalo is fantastic. As you play your part with the team, back here, we too are doing what we are humanly able to…….and that is go on our knees and thank God for graciously bringing us this far: for seeing us past Nyasa; for the 3 goals against Lobi in Nairobi and even for seeing us past the players’ salaries and plane ticketing bottlenecks.

We request God to keep the South African match officials from awarding Lobi Stars any penalty, whatsoever. We bind any penalty award to Lobi Stars in the name of Jesus Christ and we plead for the blood of Jesus Christ to protect our team from all satanic machinations. We pray for the Holy Spirit of God to create a ring of fire around every individual member of the team, plus the entire contingent…..Ja’Asego and the FKF representative included….a ring of fire that will offer protection against fatigue, illness, injury and all satanic persuasions and designs in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

We ask God to unleash the experience our boys acquired from the exposure against Everton and make them use this experience to mesmerize, entangle and ensnare Lobi players plus their technical bench during the match, in a way never seen before. We ask all these in faith, plus others that we have not mentioned, trusting in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen and Amen.

Coach Solomon Ogbeide of Enugu Nigeria. GM is fantastic because we have fantastic players…tb…supporters and loving fans…plus the spirit and determination of Champions..When the going gets tough our Ancestral spirit of Mahia lifts us up. Finally Gor Mahia is Strong because they have J’Asego on the upper bench helping Hassan Oktay tactically…You will know that we know

I like the idea of camping in Accra though we shouldn’t leave it late and expect our hosts to ferry us from Lagos to Enugu without any hiccups. We also need to have a training session in the field, even if for psychological reasons. i believe Jasego and co are on tpof everything. This might be one of the most crucial games for Gor in recent times so we must not leave anything to chance

    Someone tell Sonko:

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has offered free buses to convey Lobi Stars Football Club supporters to Enugu on Saturday for the return leg of the club’s CAF Champions League match against Gor Mahia FC of Kenya.

Ortom further called on football fans in Enugu and neighbouring states to troop to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Saturday as they did in the previous game, to cheer Lobi Stars to victory against the visiting Gor Mahia FC of Kenya.

Let them come in the name of their governor. K’Ogalo comes in the name of the living God.

Gor Mahia are used to playing in front of hostile crowds in Malawi, Rwanda, Dar es Salaam na kwingineko. They shall weather the storm in Enugu. Just stay calm

  • Hate to say this but Lobi Stars could exploit Boni’s proven tendency to blunder big time in crucial games e.g conceding easy goals from way out(30 yards),free kicks, poor judgement. GK Fred is a safer bet. Tough choices but WAN GOR EMWAHERO. @BB AMEN,AMEN.

  • Our other Goalkeeper Odhiambo is a very good keeper and has always risen to ocassion whenever called upon to duty BUT in this Lobi game , I will go with Boni and this despite being let down by him on ocassions , his letting me down does not and will not blind me to the fact that on also so many other ocassions , he has lifted as up , one of them being our qualifier to where we are now .
And while at this , am reminded of my other team’s goalie Alison Becker of liverpool , who less than a few days after being touted a one of the world’s finest for a world class save in injury time against Napoli , he made a horrow blunder against Man U that would have made Boni Oluoch World class , not forgetting his other world class blunder when he attempted to dribble against a Leicester striker , oh , how about Top class Everton goalkeeper Pickford’s injury time “Save”of a Van Dik’s harmless ball that was going out but he (Pickford ) miraculously brought it back in play for Origi to score .
Ultimately , the coach is with the players 24/7 and I am in trust that whatever decision he will have made , he will have been in a better position than me to make that decision -God bless whatever decision/s he makes- – – -Amen

Lobi Stars are almost certainly pouring over the “many Boni video’s” to determine their game plan. One tatical way to disrupt such plans is by simply swapping the GK’s. Difficult choice so as aptly put let Oktay be so guided. AMEN HALELUYA AMEN.
