Goal can reveal that Ugandan striker Robert Ssentongo arrived in Kenya on Monday and will sign contract with the Kenyan champions on Tuesday

Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are on verge of completing the signing of Ugandan striker Robert Ssentongo, Goal can reveal.

The 28-year old, who spent half of last season at URA FC after leaving Ethiopian side St. George, arrived in Kenyan capital Nairobi on Monday and is set to put pen paper after agreeing personal terms.

Gor Mahia Chief Executive Officer Omondi Aduda confirmed the arrival of the Ugandan. “I personally received Ssentongo at JKIA on Monday evening.

“We are holding more talks with his representatives today (Tuesday) but what I can reveal is that the deal is as good as sealed. We need to agree on a few things before Ssentongo puts pen to paper.”

Ssentongo’s arrival at K’Ogalo brings to five numbers of Ugandan players’ turning out for the club. Others are striker Dan Sserunkuma, Goddfrey ‘Baba’ Kizito’, Geoffrey Walusimbi and Israel Emuge.

Ssentongo says he is looking forward to linking up with his compatriots at K’Ogalo. “I have always wanted to play in Kenyan Premier League and will be happy if the deal goes through. It will also be amazing to play alongside my countrymen, who have always urged me to come and play in Kenyan league.”

Apart from featuring for St. Georges, Ssentongo has turned out for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Ugandan sides SC Villa, Kampala City Council and African Lyon.

Gor Mahia is a respected club, whoever is in charge of whatever is being uploaded in Gor Mahia website should ensure it is well researched. He should stop copy-pasting information from goal.com into Gor Mahia website. If you go to http://www.futaa.com‘s todays 1:46pm upload,Gor Mahia secreatary has refuted the issue of signing Robert Ssentongo. This website of Gor Mahia recently claimed Rama Salim got a club in South Africa whose name was yet to be known yet Rama Salim has never been to South Africa before for trials. Whoever is uploading items in Gor Mahia website should verify with Gor Mahia officials first. It is embarrassing uploading information which has not been verified with club officials. We need to read facts, not rumours.

We will wait and see.But the EC needs to keep the fire burning in terms of the paybill and membership registration. They can ask the Chase Bank to be available during the Sunday Senior vs Junior team match and register fans

Rama will go. So will Ssrenkuma. Its obvious these two are looking. We need to aggressively look for an income generating venture that is able for us to afford Good players. Ec should finalise Ssentongo, Collins Neto, as likely new strikers. Confirm to us that Gatusso has actually signed. Can someone get Charles Odette go beef defense.

  • Pls get Geoffrey Kataka Omusula from KRA. The boy is good and has the bits between his teeth. He can turn out to be a real star at Gor Mahia. The only player to remind me of Charles Otieno is this boy Kataka. Talking to KRA coach- Ken Kenyatta last week revealed a lot to me just how much the attacking play of the team is built around him. Get him please since his equivalent is our old boy Osumba and you and I knows it will take a mega offer to prise him away from Tusker.

  • it’s a mistake if gor thinks it can buy the league. it’s not a question of buying this or that player but rather about changing the gor play pattern. these new guys will come but with the same predictable unresponsive, poor passing, whoever it may concern soccer, gor will not go far. tusker has in it’s ranks players formerly at mathare but how these guys are playing is amazing. i condemned kenya the other day soccer but the tusker et afc game in meru showed left me impressed. these guys simply good in the art of positioning. i had dismissed Kimanzi before but this guy has good ideas. no matter what afc did they were going to lose. nowonder gor players took to the moody display that the pitch was the problem. with the tired soccer that gor is currently displaying, even if they were to buy all these players being mentioned here, one thing is for sure…tusker will take the league.
