Gor Mahia’s Special General Meeting (SGM) which was set for Sunday, October 9, has been cancelled.

The meeting was called by the club’s executive body after it failed to take place on Sunday, October 2 with an explanation that the draft constitution which was to be approved had not been fine-tuned, among other reasons, but things turned out to the worst on the rescheduled date.

Gor Mahia set to hold elections in December

As confirmed to Goal by the club’s chairman aspirant Dan Oketch, branch officials had arrived at Nyayo Stadium in a large number only to be shocked that the club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier, who called the meeting, was not present. The worst part of it is that even the copies of the draft constitution, which was to be discussed and adopted, were not available at the meeting venue forcing officials to run up and down at a time when the meeting could have been on.

A group of people heckling with slogans against Dan Oketch streamed in the meeting venue to completely disrupt the wait for the chairman leading to the cancellation of the meeting.

Gor Mahia branch officials demand for AGM

“The meeting has aborted because we could not manage the hash condition at the venue. Ambrose Rachier and Co. sent hooligans to disrupt the meeting while we were waiting for him to start the meeting. Even the copies of the constitution were not available at the venue so basically it could not happen.”

This happening might just worsen the situation at the club following demands by branch officials for an Annual General Meeting in order to commission for elections.

I have all reasons to be really worried, and I am.

My support for AR is waning due to these shenanigans. I think we need totally new blood to run the club. The current aspirants and office holders are no longer what the club needs. I miss those days of Leslie Okudo

But who is the new blood? It cannot be Chris Omondi. He is too emotionally unstable. As Dan Oketch, what are his accomplishments in football or in business or in life. We cannot afford to vote people with empty CVs for four years. If you, the club will be battling relegation by 2018.

This is what we call dictatorship and I think we as GMF, we won’t allow it to continue. Futhermore those who have accepted to be used in a wrong way will face the conciquences. They better decist from that before things turn to worse. Gormahia is not an individual asset.

Word on the streets is that the goons were hired by one aspirant to heckle the other, Rachier got wind of this and decided to keep off. Any truth in this?

Guys, the moment your nickname is Hooligan and you are a Gor fan or office aspirant then there is need for worry.
Can’t an ‘Obama’, surface to salvage the reputation and standing of Gor? I still insist that we need someone with a good reputation in the corporate world to take over then the Omondi and Oketch can be EC members. In Rugby you find leaders who are well-known country-wide as professionals, why not football?

Unfortunately at Gor Mahia FC its quite difficult to ascertain who is doing what!

How true or false is it that AR got wind of the commissioned hooliganism and stayed away..hard to tell.
Again how easy and hard is it to establish who hired the goons?

I thought AR was almost convincing me but i think he is now more wanting than before..AR can do better and win this election again following his recent management of the team to success on the pitch but the room he is allowing for chaos may surely cost him!

Hoolign or Mugabe, what’s in a name? EC call’s a meeting for the second time to discuss the “club’s constitution”? Was the meeting for members or stakeholders? For an EC that does not know whether the GK trainer and headcoach are feuding, that Gatusso is not attending training, is it not too much to expect it to know club members? Was AR afraid of being heckled or JUST DIDN’T WANT TO FACE QUESTIONS ON GATE COLLECTIONS, CLUB ACCOUNTS, BRAZILIAN PLAYERS ON PAYROLL WITHOUT PLAYING ETC ETC. THERE IS NO LEAGUE TITLE SO FAR TO CONFUSE PEOPLE. YOU CAN FOOL SOME PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME BUT YOU CAN’T FOOL ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME!

  • I believe that anybody with sound Management skills can change the face of Kogallo. Why do some people believe that Rachier is the only suitable candidate for chairmanship? The Mugabe/Museveni mentality is what is cheating that branch officials can rubber stamp their “constitution” . I don’t expect such a level of ignorance from a lawyer.

The question is: How do you know that either Dan Oketch or Chris Omondi have sound management skills?

      • Who has said that I am campaigning for either of the said candidates? That is why Oduor 12 has been writing repeatedly that we need performance contracts to be signed by the Ec. When we strengthen the structures of management at Kogallo, we will not need to go for individual personalities. Rachier has been a stumbling block to some of these changes. All the incoming officials will always fit into such structures as long as there is transparency. We cannot have life officials.

You are discussing a separate topic. I am sure nobody said Rachier is the only suitable candidate. We are saying that among the three candidates who have presented themselves, he is the only one with credentials.

As for those things you mentioned, they have been mentioned several times. But they will not happen because everyone is focused on the election. All the fans and branch officials and members who are heckling Rachier are not asking for fundamental changes. They are just demanding elections.

      • Gor mahia is not Rachier”s house where he displays a one man show. We want structures that will ensure that disciplinary matters are handled amicably. With working structures:

        – A chairman will not hire and fire a coach as he pleases
-Players will be acqired on merit, not 4 goalkeepers and several benchwarmers
        – The sale og Gor Mechandise will be controlled in order to improve the clun
        – Gor will move to a different level
        – Proper accountability will be put in place.
        – Unnecessary employees with vague roles like the Ferraries will be relieved of duties or redeployed.

Gor was there before Rachier and it will still be there post Rachier.

I believe first and foremost all GMFC members, including branch chairmen, fans etc want TO WIN TROPHIES all else is secondary. Nationally, the league title, elusive GorTv and last & least Top 8, next regionally the prestigious CECAFA Kagame Cup, then continentally the CAF more prestigious Confederation Cup (we did it in 1987) and finally the coveted CAF CL. WHY WOULD YOU VIE FOR OFFICE IF YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF FACILITATING GMFC MOVE TOWARDS THESE YEARLY EVENTS. WE NEED PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS AND AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED RECALL CLAUSES FOR FAILURES BY YEAR ONE OR MAXIMUM YEAR TWO. WHY SHOULD WE BEAR WITH MEDIOCRACY FOR 4 YEARS.So that’s why i keep repeating this like a broken record. Let’s enshrine YEARLY WRITTEN performance contracts for ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS TO ENSURE THAT GMFC MUST 1) QUALIFY FOR A CAF TOURNAMENT 2)REACH AT LEAST THE SEMIS OF EVERY CECAFA WE PARTICIPATE IN 3) REACH AT LEAST THE 3RD ROUND/GROUP STAGES OF EVERY CAF TOURNEY WE PARTICIPATE IN. Let performance be the key factor not personalities.
