Gor Mahia sink Bandari 2-1
Gor Mahia moved a step closer to claiming a third succesive Kenya premier League title when they registered an impressive away win against Bandari at Mombasa county stadium. Just as important, Gor Mahia maintained their momentum towards an unbeaten season.
The absence of Michael Olunga gave Enock Agwanda a spot in the starting line-up. Agwanda almost put Gor Mahia ahead as early as the 4th minute, but he missed the target narrowly. Gor Mahia took the lead in the 24th minute when Geoffrey Walusimbi’s effort was mishandled by goalkeeper Wilson Oburu for Gor Mahia first goal.
Bandari gave a good account of themselves and pressed forward for an equalizer with George Abege and Shaban Kenga leading the charge. They claimed an equalizer in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot after Haron Sjakava was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box. Kevin Kimani stepped forward to score.
Walusimbi was on the mark again in the 78th minute to give Gor Mahia the winning goal.
Eloquent Gor Mahia assistant coach Bobby Ogolla was elated after the match.

Gor Mahia now need two more wins to secure their third title which will entitle them to keep the trophy for good.

It seems like one more game for the trophy – at least to make it mathematical just given the vast goal difference they have compared to Ulinzi which is the only other team that could get to 65. I do think though it could be secured before our next match given the next two for Uliniz that will be tough. Thank the Almighty for the 2015 run, it has been good.
We need Olunga sign a better deal for one more year to sharpen his boots at CAF champions league.Gor should keep him for 500000 per month.I doubt if Bidvest goes to champions league.

Mr. Admin, Gor needs only two matches (not two wins) to take the trophy. Beat Ulinzi on 12 September followed by a draw against Sony and the trophy is home. However, if Gor loses to Ulinzi then they will need two more matches after the Ulinzi game to secure the trophy.
Congrats Boys. As it is we can be declared champs before playing the next game. All that is required is for Ulinzi to fail to beat Western Stima and Sofapaka.
For fans let’s think of how we can pass/express our thanks to the team, both TB and players.
Let’s also not leave the EC out. As much as they could have done better we really appreciate what they did despite the mountain of challenges we have encountered.
Congratulations to the team for delivering the title so early and in style. Special mention must go to the whole team for the way they have stayed together despite the many financial challenges that we have faced. (Ona vile semeji amesambaratika) We can call you: TEAM NUTALL. You have done well. It is coming to that time of the year that we must look at every player in the eye and give them their performance report card. I mean that there are those players that despite our love for them will have to be let go. Here we go: It may seem very unfortunate but I think its a high time we went for a younger reserve keeper to work with BO and JFO. We should let David Juma go as he seems doomed to live under the overbearing shadows of BO AND JFO forever. For the defence, it hurts to learn that Dirkir Glay is no longer in the plans of the coaches and therefore has been released though unofficially. He showed a lot of promise and deserved more time with the team. Gor Mahia must realize that MM will never be that domineering centre half that every team needs if you’re to be successful in the continent. If we got a player like Serge Pascal Wawa of Azam to lead our defence then we will be home and dry. Shakava is developing into a very good player but he needs to play alongside a continental type of centre back to mentor him into a defensive rock. I hope Bernard Odhiambo has the potential to fill the boots of his now departed brother. Our wing backs are well covered by Nisigiyimana and Sibomana & anyone coming in will only be an understudy. Wendo, Eric Ochieng, Gatusso and Aucho have dominated the defensive midfield position and MUST be retained at all cost. It is an open secret that Wafula is a gem of a player and if he puts his foot on the ground and stay level headed then the sky is the limit. He must learn from the mistakes of Masika and Timona Wanyonyi whose careers have gone off the rail because of tribal allure. Agwanda, Olunga, Kagere, Walusimbi all are very hardworking and have goals in them:- We MUST retain them. As for BB, Ali Abondo, Tim Otieno, Ronald Omino: All have the talent to succeed at Gor Mahia if they work really hard for the jersey. No one epitomizes hard work in the KPL than Collins Okoth Gatusso. From hanging up his boots to being the darling of the hard to please Kogalo followers and finally captaining the National team- Harambee Stars. This is the kind of hard work that the latter 4 needs to employ if they are to remain in Kogalo. As for those who have gone out on loan, ( Kopany, Tawfiq, Oluoch, C. Bruno) the writing is on the wall – “look for another club as there is no way back for you in Gor Mahia. CONCLUSION- We need a dominating centre back, an understudy for Nisigiyimana and Sibomana an attacking midfielder and a striker whether Olunga leaves or not. Thank you.
@Awasi do you know that with a few 50,000 hardcore fans who are not ngudi;each can contribute sh7 daily and the club gets sh10,500,000 per month;with this we can comfortably pay a good player like Olunga 1m not even 500k and remain with 9.5m way above club wage bill of 2. something million.Or with 100000 fans contribute sh5 daily and we make 15m per month.The club can even have an investment arm with the same format as Centum or Transcentury.Poverty is a lifestyle.
its only possible if gor mahia office subcontracts its part of financial aspect to maybe a financial institution or licensed broker or agent. to carry out mobilizations of funds, and most of them can give updates on funds collected and how utilized. most of this institutions have adequate liquid reserves with CBK and are insured so they cant go under. through its transparency and accountability most of gor mahia fans can contribute and gor office is able to pay its players promptly. bloggers its so painfully to see teams from sudan EL HILAL and EL MERRECK still competing at ongoing CAF, infact last week EL HILAL of sudan shocked TP MAZEMBE by hammering it one goal to NIL. I congratulate the team for humbling the noisy Bandari keeper and coach Muhiddin. I also want to thank Gor Mahia fans for that mammoth attendance. That crowd was so big that it is laughable to hear that only KES 880,000 was raised. This eating of gate collections is not a preserve of Gor Mahia only after all.
The low point of our Match against Bandari is the failure by the Gor Mahia Longroom Branch to distribute fliers as had earlier been indicated by one Som E. I cannot, however, blame this budding branch for the failure since this inability to execute progressive ideas is not new in Gor Mahia.
That crowd of Gor Mahia fans at Mombasa Stadium if turned into supporters can translate into a gold mine. The same observation was made by the late coach Len Julians and recently by coach Frank Nuttal. The key lies in recognizing and dealing with Gor Mahia branches like Longroom branch. Growth in Gor Mahia can only be realized if the branches are used fully as a bridge to reach the fans. The branches are better placed to oversee the Gor Mahia development agenda through membership drives, SACCO contributions, 350100 contributions, fan discipline etc, etc.
To ensure uniformity the EC should train officials of duly registered branches on their agenda after which the branches will then be expected to implement and report back to the EC. I want to believe the branches are better placed to ensure members buy season’s tickets since this is the fool-proof way of stemming corruption-related dealings at the gates during our home matches. It is the branches that can ensure more effective participation of all Gor Mahia faithfuls in the day-to-day activities of the club. As has been pointed out many times, with the kind of following Gor Mahia has, it should be the sponsors who should be cuing to get that opportunity to sponsor the club and not we are witnessing.
