The much anticipated Gor Mahia versus AFC Leopards Kenyan Premier League (KPL) set for Sunday 25 August will be held at the MISC Kasarani after all.

This is after Gor Mahia and Sports Stadia Management Board representatives held a meeting on Thursday 22 August and the former (Gor) agreed to pay the Ksh 2.3 Million for the damage caused after their barren draw with Nairobi City Stars on Saturday 4th August.

-We’ve agreed that the match will be played here (MISC) as planned.  Gor has agreed to pay the entire cost of damage but they requested that a re-assessment be done which we have agreed to – we will do this together this afternoon, SSMB Public Relations Officer Asman Raki told futaa.com,

Gor has also agreed to deposit Ksh 1 Million as security bond prior to the derby match.

Bond

-Gor has also agreed to pay the security bond of Kshs 1 million to be deposited with the KPL, Raki said,

-Hooligans will be dealt with individually – picked out from the crowd  and taken to the police, he added.

The match will kick off at 1500 Hours.

This ridiculous how can we bend so low to accept what I term day time theft. The ssmb is out to kill K’Ogalo but I can assure it others tried and failed miserably. Should chaos erupt on Sunday (God Forbid) they will blame it on K’Ogalo and retain the 1 million bond. All in all let us maintain calm before, during and after the match to prove our innocence. My prayer starts tomorrow and I call upon all K’Ogalo lovers to join me in seeking God’s power to overcome all the obstacles ahead as we chase on the title “IS MARWA”

  • ODUOR12 says:

I wish EC had in the very least INSISTED THAT SSMB TAKES OVER THE SECURITY OF THE STADIA.
Am not a pessimist but EC has opened a BIG can of worms.
EXPECT VENDETTAS BTW OFFICIALS & CAMPS PLAYING OUT IN THE NAME OF “IDENTIFYING HOOLIGANS.”
NOW ITS OFFICIAL GM IS A CASH COW THE CLUB IS RESPONSIBLE 4 ANY ILLEGAL ACT BY PERSONS IN GM JERSEY,ESPECIALLY HIRED THUGS BUT LETS C WHAT NEW THING EC WILL DO THAT THEY HAVE’NT DONE IN 2 YEARS.

  • OGANGO TRAILER says:

Ooh Laa la….!!!! “DAWA YA MOTO NI MOTO”

We invited the greedy cash cows to come and milk us dry and as such we should not raise a RED flag. We have very honorably accepted to entrench HOOLIGANISM within our fraternity and perfected it as core culture of our fanatical base across the entire divide.

When playing KARUTURI at the CITY STADIUM it took the intervention of JBO for the match to proceed after the “holier than thou” fans with deep pockets at the main-stand decided to hurl objects to the linesman immediately our opponents equalized.

By such actions you were sending a clear message to the Bang-smokers and alcoholic addicts in the “RUSSIAN” terraces to spoil the match.

THIS MAKES ME CONCLUDE THAT WE HAVE HOOLIGANS FROM ALL KIND PEOPLE IN GOR-MAHIA FRATERNITY. WE SHOULD CHANGE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND.

Whether we hike the entrance fee or not “Hooliganism” is a core culture in K’Ogalo and until we accept “A CULTURE CHANGE MANAGEMENT” across the divide; their is very little our EC can do whether LEAN or OVER REPRESENTED.

  • ODUOR12 says:

Reassessment of what? EC/AR pliz spare us, SSMB is calling the shots.U know y u left it 2 late.
I c the fickle AFC fans boycotting this game en-mass.
BTW what r the gate collections against Muhoroni?
What abt the fake U19 flop with City Stars coach Korea & recycledJolawi?
EC doles out 3.8M easy yet our players have no medical scheme during their entire term in office, coaches have no vehicle(s)
So sad that some still defend this gang(goons) of 14.
    I salute players/TB 4 delivering with such E

  • Dan Original says:

As much as I don’t support what the SSMB has done and the EC agreeing can someone tell us what we could have done. Boycott the game? Take it to City stadium? Do nothing? We are as divided on this issue as day and night. While some of us lobbied for the high charges partially to assist us pay for the ‘damages’ and act as a deterent others opted for a hard stance without giving options.
If only we didn’t get ourselves in that position the team could not have lost that much money and goodwill. To me the people to blame are those goons within our midst. Hope they can see the suffering they cost the team. Remember that even in school when there was a strike even the most innocent chaps had to foot the same bill as the ringleaders. That’s the price to pay for a society that doesn’t listen to itself.
Unfortunately for us in Gor (and Ingwe) the cross we have to carry is that one of the hooligans.
Better we have 1000 fans attending the match than 30,000 who later on cause chaos and destruction. As someone said the biggest mistake is to allow ourselves to take care of security which we are never experts in. If SSMB took care of securing their property (including insuring it) we would not have to worru=y about the goons in us as they would be taken ‘care’ of

  • Walter Alando Bwoga says:

@ OGANGO TRAILER – I echo your sentiments except the fact that hooligans are always seated in RUSSIAN stand; hooligans are all over.

As for paying fine, I think we had no option than to comply. Probably if we had a say of the venue then we would have moved the match to uganda or Tanzania. Tell me if you were EC what you could have done – put your foot down and say you cant pay the fine or ‘accept and move on’?

  • ODUOR12 says:

THIS IS A FIRST IN KENYA PROBABLY IN THE WORLD.
@Dan O. school strikes r one way of looking at it bt also when robberies r prepetrated by thugs in police uniform/even by wayward police does the police force as an institution take the blame. No individuals r isolated & made 2 pay. Worse still GM remain stuck with this security nightmare more with the admission frm EC that the thugs r nt goons
/fans bt members.Where is the “lawyerfullness” of AR?
@5&6 those r valid options given b4 just c blogs

  • I also agree that one of the agreements should have been for the SSMB to take care of the security of their own facility, and charge the customers (clubs) accordingly. Clubs are not equiped to handle security of “fans” or hooligans pretending to be “fans” !
This was a missed opportunity by the EC to put responsibility where it should be – the facility owner

  • Pod Antie says:

During the Gor vs Karuturi match the hooligans broke the gate to enter free under the pretext that ‘jakom’ had paid for them. They headed straight to the mainstand and no sooner had they settled down than all sorts of objects were flying torwards the pitch. Lets not bury our heads in the sand, these goons hav no place in the stadium and football at large. Footballers need to be paid, these goons never pay,how will the players be paid?. Further more, they wreck havoc and leave the team with 3.8 million shilling bills, when are we going to learn? !? Keep the idiots out of the stadium. Price them out and let the deep pockets pay and bring their families along and pay for them too. Football is a beautiful game, keep the goons out of it.

  • omondi says:

THIS IS VERY SAD AND STUPID DECISION. THIS IS HOW PEOPLE SIGN BLANK CHECKS WITHOUT THINKING TWICE

HOW TO SPEND THE 1M BOND:

SSMB MAKING FALSE ASSESSMENT AND CHARGING GOR

AFC FANS (OR OPPONENTS) COURSING CHAOS WHICH IS THEN CHARGED TO GOR EASY MONEY AS CO-PERPETRATORS

POOR OFFICIATING WHEN REFFEREES KNOW WELL THAT WE HAVE BEEN BOXED AND WE LOOK MORE TO SAVE THE ONE MILLION THAN GETTING ANNOYED AND REACTING TO THEIR DECISION. THIS WILL ALSO AFFECT THE PLAYING UNIT WHEN PLAYERS PROTEST SUCH DECISION.

POLICE ACTION FOR THE SAME REASON THAT GOR’S MONEY WILL BE WITHHELD TO COVER DAMAGES

MUTHURWA LIKE CLASHES WHERE AMBULANCE CHASERS CAN JUST ARRIVE AT THE SSMB DOORS AND CLAIM THE CASH OR SEEK COURT ORDERS THAT THE MONEY IS NOT RELEASED BY SSMB/FKL.

PURE CORRUPTION PRACTICE WHERE THE FKL, SSMB AGREE TO SING FLIMSY REASONS AND EXERGERATE THE ASSESSMENT OF PERCEIVED DAMAGE WITH THE SUPPLUS BEING SHARED.

AND LASTLY WHEN CHAOS HAVE TO ERRUPT, IT WILL BE BIG, MULTI MILLION SO THAT THE 1M BOND IS SEEN AS A DROP IN THE SEE.

    WE HAVE A BOTTOMLESS PIT

ALL THE BEST, BUT EC SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OUTSIDE THE BOX.

WORSE STILL THERE ARE ALL REASON FOR NOT ALLOWING US TO PLAY AT CITY STADIUM.

  • Paw Akuche says:

Pod antie i think you got it right.
Now guys look at it this way the ssmb don’t want costs read security costs and when they allow you to play in their stadium they expect you to be civilized which is fair enough.
The consequence of loosing kshs.3.8m must be felt by someone and unfortunately that is us the fans, the lovers of Gor Mahia.
Why us? because it is the best way to feel the pinch so that we can behave like civilized people we are expected to be you see if i were EC i could charge center stand at 1000.00 and Russia at 500.00 then get medical cover for the players as a motivation.I wonder if the Gor officials always read this blog just too see how fans think.

  • Mboya Obendi says:

The agreement between Gor and SMB is 0k, why should we cause a stalmate while it is too obvious to deny that Gor fans destroyed property in and around Kasarani.

My point of disagreement with them is the decision to play the derbey in Kasarani. The point is, it is proven that the Kasarani seats are weak and can break or be broken easily. In a situation of a provocative incident by or at a charged crowd the broken seats may well serve as weapons. In such a scenario the impact, extent and financial value of destruction will be much bigger to compare with the previous one or the value of the one million security bond they are asking for.

Staging this match at Kasarani is arisky gamble considering that both teams and fans in their numbers are thirsty for the trophy.

Let the derby be played at Nyayo for safety and security of fans and property.

  • Paw Akuche says:

Omondi you are quite interesting…..to ensure the 1m bond is given back please go to the stadium watch the match ikiisha enda home. The fact that hooliganism is not acceptable is not negotiable. If the SSMB tries to steal the money there are proper channels to follow to get justice and in the eyes of the public we will be seen to be civilized hakuna njia ingine.
Kogalo as a brand is hot, very hot, the demand is too high and therefore the people running the club must come up with code of conduct and also make Kogalo games very expensive to attend so that ultimately they become family outings that can be attended whether Kogalo looses or wins.Look at rugby they charge so expensive and beer is also sold there and there is no hooliganism and they are always packed. Now when you make the games so expensive you get more income to put in proper security and the hooligans are gradually eased out economically and tactically coz these people are low end fans you know they are the extremists we don’t need if we are to reach where we need to be as the big club we think we are.

  • Albert Kosero - Sofaset Branch Kampala says:

The only way to wipe out hooliganism in Kenyan football, more especially amongst Kogallo followers, is by introducing very punitive measures. Kogallo has been fined heavily before and these seem not to deter the goons from causing chaos. The day KPL/FKF will start docking points off the club due to hooliganism; this madness will definitely come to a stop. Imagine if Kogallo were to be docked 3 points at this stage of the league. The 3 point should be docked whether the team responsible wins, draws or loses. I am almost certain, this will stump out hooliganism. I would rather we fail to win the league, but restore order and win it next time. I am in absolute support of any punitive action, as long as it will stump out hooliganism.
For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

  • omondi says:

I can tell you all that among the grievances some of the fans at gate two had to do with the venue. They “goons” conspired loudly that their matches HOME or AWAY should not be at Kasarani hoping by Gor being banned from Kasarani and Nyayo, would force some teams to pick CITY for their home games which they believe is the natural home ground of Gor.

So when I hear the thoughts for the venue to be Nyayo, it is understandably part of the bigger problem.

I wish Gor a win, a resounding one against AFC. lets behave

  • fred odhiambo says:

i do not subscribe to any form of hooliganism.however my heart cries out for those genuine Gor fans who work day and night to make ends meet and struggle to raise 200 shillings to watch the game from “russia”!!

Those watching the game from center stand are not more of Gor fans than these people. Why are they being made to suffer just because of a few deluded fans??are we saying that there are no hooligans who can afford to pay 500 shillings???

Football is for the masses….lets be considerate to those who are less fortunate and are law abiding genuine football fans!!raising the gate charges is not and will never be the solution to curbing hooliganism, never!!!

  • jakoyo says:

PREDICTION !!! GOR MAHIA 1 AFC LEOPARDS 1

  • ODUOR12 says:

Please note by yesterday 7pm Ngala had already announced on Futaa.com that tickets will go for a flat rate of Kshs.500!
So much for pricing out the hooligans.

Am i the only with this sickening feeling that these goons are INDISPENSIBLE 2 the “executive community” & are going to play a role in the upcoming elections.
Now EC have given themselves the additinal burden of physically controlling/preventing entry into the VIP area coz i don’t see EC sitting freely with fans.
    I PRAY 4 A VICTORY 4 GM.

  • Paw Akuche says:

Maybe these guys are reading the blog a flat rate of 500.00 is a good starting point but they should not sell tickets at the venue.

  • Kassam Mwivangano says:

I also will accept any punishment from the FKF , KPL or even the SSMB against GM because we cannot be associated with brainless people for ever, neither are we going to have a cycle of years of good match attendance followed by years of empty stadia because a few people must either destroy property, cause deaths, sack a coach or fight someone anytime GM draws or loses a match.

Remember GM matches are told to be well attended in the seventies through to the eighties only for civilised people to shy away due to deaths witnessed as a result of hooliganism from the nineties. This means guys will begin staying away one by one till we start persuading fans to come back.

People will always be quick in singing songs in praise of so and so has done a good job when questions arise regarding pertinent issues but the point is how is the club responding to issues surrounding its main existence? Are we going to have hooligans maintained to keep people in the EC at the expense of the club? The buck stops with the EC regardless of who is there.

Since they’ve refused to back effective systems capable of curbing this menace while ready to spend hard earned club resources on hooligan’s funny activities this calls for forceful implementation of safety measures to make this EC react appropriately.

Remember they insisted the goons were not GM fans until SSMB declined to allow GM into its stadia. Commensurate
force must be effected to make both EC and fans modernize their thinking.

Bloggers have really been brainstorming for months on how to crush this monster in GM. Kosero must have got the correct dose to cure this chronic condition GM has lived in for years.Remember most hooligans run after PM’s motorcade to get free entry and bribe the so called gate security with 50 bod hence raising gate charges will not deter them, did you hear of the guys arrested selling fake GM tickets, what happened to them? were they ever charged? And who should have been the accuser in the case?

KPL SHOULD JUST BEGIN DOCKING POINTS FROM ANY TEAM CAUSING BRAINLESS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY AND VIOLENCE OF ANY KIND AND YOU WILL SEE THE EC AND FANS COMPLYING EFFECTIVELY.

  • OGANGO TRAILER says:

@ Albert Kosero and Kassam Mwivangano you guys are very much spot ON. And i support the idea of deducting POINTS 100%.

Last weekend JOGOO RD traffic was brought to a standstill for no good reason at all. It had to take the intervention of MAKONGENI / JOGGO RD police station commanders with their crews to ambush these thugs and free the motor-ways.

What does an innocent motorist have to do with the on-going at city stadium? Banging cars, slowing the traffic in the name GM is very detrimental to our brand.

WE REALLY NEED SOME THOROUGH “CORE CULTURAL BEHAVIOR CHANGE MANAGEMENT” FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, DESPITE THE BACK STOPPING WITH THE EC WHETHER “LEAN” OR “BLOATED”.

BETTER MISS THE TITLE AND SPARE THE BRAND THAN SPOIL THE BRAND AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TITLE WHICH IS AN ANNUAL COMPETITION.

  • Dan Original says:

@Kosero and @Kassam. Docking points is a good way to start but how do you stop Tusker, AFC or any other teams’ fans from interfering with a match and getting the team docked points. Remember that we cannot even identify hooligans during a match but can only make assumptions based on their colour of uniform or where they ar seated

  • OGANGO TRAILER says:

@ DAN Original it is next to impossible for an impostor to wear a GM brand and interfere with a match if that might impact negatively on the club. Just re-call recently when we had shunned this vice and how an attempt to disrupt the match was dealt with full force and especially at the “RUSSIAN” terraces.

WHO ON EARTH CAN DARE SPOIL FOR GM WHEN WE MEAN BUSINESS?. PERHAPS I COULD BUY THE IDEA OF GM / AFC FANS SPOILING FOR TUSKER DUE TO THEIR “TYRANNY OF NUMBERS” BUT NOT THE OPPOSITE.

  • ODUOR12 says:

Docking points just hurts the players most & has no effect on hired hooligans.Points r only docked thru incidences of match fixing, doping i.e where team has cheated.
Lets not advocate more injustice 2 GM.
@ O.T the question is why oh why didn’t the police arrest people committing a crime of obstructing traffic.

SOCIETIES R GOVERNED BY LAWS & BY ENFORCING THE PENALTIES FOR BREAKING THOSE LAWS APPEALS FOR CIVILITY/STYLING SIMPLY HAVE NO EFFECT

Penalizing GM is not a deterent to the hooligans

  • Kassam Mwivangano says:

    Oh no my friend Dan.
We can never honestly claim to know hooligans per se actually no one should purport to know them. We are talking about getting them to book and dealing with them accordingly.

I will give you a short illustration, What if you were in a matatu charging 100/- then you suddenly happen to lose 10/-! I promise you will look for the ten bob even to the extent of approaching your fellow commuter for assistance or even pleading with the conductor explaining the loss of your precious ten bob! We are talking about life and death situation occasioned by people who enjoy hurting others without any bit of human sympathy..even causing death and laughing about it..the worst is that they wish to do it over and over again. Give the job(of identifying) to the people trained and specialized at it and you will be surprised after two matches the public will love GM just after arrests and prosecutions the same way Michuki rules did in our Matatu sector. Brother, you know well as much as i do what the Kenya police can deliver when committed.

I know people will say the police need not be requested again to do their job but we all know how it has been since the nineties and no police would bother themselves since they believe K’ogalo masses will rise to prevent the arrests. We all know why the police normally keep their distance! Its also on record that GM officials have cleverly defended these goons, it actually took an effort of branch officials who engaged the Muthurwa traders in peace making dialogue when our famous EC stood firm disowning the rogue fans!

Bro Oduori, let me mention today you’ve disappointed so much by appearing to run away from what you’ve always advocated for..taking responsibility!
By insinuating that docking points will just hurt players you are limiting the impact.Docking points hurts everyone and hurts more in this order..Fans-EC- Tribalists who are at GM coz of ethnicity-players.Actually the current EC will be compoundly affected as they need this trophy to have something for their re-election campaigns. Therefore its extreme understatement to say players will be hurt most!

We must accept we need some stern action which must affect all of us seriously and that which hurts more emotionally than just financially.

Guys think about it..i mean that which hurts emotionally, may be like we were hurt losing the trophy by drawing Thika United last season. Something like that. Something that hurts all of us will make EC to work on properly engaging the CID and undercover police to track the real goons at GM, arresting them and prosecuting them, something that makes fans to collaborate with the law enforcers to catch these losers.

I am not talking about lists generated by officials here..REAL CULPRITS CAUGHT RED HANDED! IT TAKES REAL HURTING ACTION FOR THE ENTIRE GM FRATERNITY TO ACT..NOT LETTING LOSERS DESTROY PROPERTY ONLY FOR THE CLUB TO PAY THEIR BILLS!
