Gor Mahia starts season this weekend
Charity Cup
Serious business for the 2013 season starts this weekend as Gor Mahia face off with Mathare United in the Kenya Charity cup. Each team will play two matches in one day.
The fixtures:
9.15 am: Gor Mahia v Mathare United
11.15 am: Western Stima v Sofapaka
4.00 pm: FINAL
CAF Preliminary round
Gor Mahia will face off with Anse Re Union of Seychelles in the CAF cup preliminary round during the weekend of February 16th. The Return leg will be during the weekend of March 2
Kenya Premier League
Gor Mahia will kick off the 2013 Kenya Premier League on Wednesday February 20th against Ulinzi at Kasarani. They will then play KCB the following Sunday the 24th of February. Gor Mahia will be looking for a better start to the season than they have had in the past 4 years.
Super Cup
Gor Mahia will clash with Tusker in the 2013 SuperSport/DSTV Super Cup on February 23rd. Tusker won last year’s edition by beating Gor Mahia 4-1 on penalties. Perhaps this is why Kogalo have been working hard on their penalty technique recently.
Injury Concerns
Chris Wekesa, Solomon Nasio and Ivan Anguyo are all doubtful for the tie after picking up injuries in the weekend friendles. Coach Logarusic told michezoafrika.com : “I am not too sure whether they will be available for us this weekend because they have not been training comfortably. However, I have 32 players in the team and three absent still leaves me with 29,”
Congestion of matches
Gor Mahia will play 7 games in a Span of 28 days. Coach Logarusic has indicated that he believes that the depth of his team will carry them through.
This is another area where having some youth players would benefit the team. The Charity cup matches especially would be suitable for youngstars.
its true as lunga has said n i wish dem quick recovry _caleb amuono
Perhaps Kogalo fans should not have been too enthusiastic to vote for the Charity cup. 2 matches on one day does not make sense. This should be a game for the reserves if Kogalo had a B team
The coach says we have thirty two players and that means we can comfortably play the two matches in a day. After all, of the two CAF teams only GM has had the least playing time since the season closed. Tusker players have already gelled from their expansive trip in Tz
I thnk this is too unfair for gor this season,7 matches within a span of 28 days!e.g 16th,20th,23rd n’ 24th doesn’t make sense for me with proffessional team like Gor,it sounds very unproffessiona otherwise.kudos to the coach coz he is not shaken even a single bit n’ believes his team gonna make it through…I wish them all the best through out the season.
This is our year, Gor must deliver in all matches given Loga has been given all his demands. Luopeans are now left to celebrate success.
I think the two matches a day is good for endurance. Even if we do not win the cup I think it will give the coach to see the endurance span of his players. This is where I have watched many kenyan teams crumble on. With the busy schedule, it is good to expose them to different scenarios when there is the opportunity. We know of EPL teams that you can never be sure you have beaten them until the final wistle is blown. It is all on endurance. Let us meet there.
Kila la heri wanaK’galo.
Win win win “entertainfully”
Can someone please clarify to me how we are scheduled to play our league match against KCB on 24th feb and DSTV super cup against Tusker on 23rd feb!!!then, initially it was reported that the league starts on 24th of feb…and our 1st game is against KCB but this story here says that our 1st game is against Ulinzi on 20th feb…..am sooooo lost, please help!!!
I dont know what is happening this days,if i can remember 80s we used to see Gor when they go to western kenya they will play all the teams from that region before coming back to nairobi, example they will play Kisumu Hotstars/Allstars,Motcom then maybe Scalet in nakuru before coming back to nairobi and all this were competitive coz all were leage matches, why do we make noise coz of playing only two games? what has happened with hawa vijana wa saa hizi, just wondering allowed
Kogalo is stil superb even in the absence of the trio
