Gor Mahia starts second leg with a bang
Any thoughts that Gor Mahia would take their foot off the accelerator after their superb first leg were quickly banished at Afraha stadium on Saturday when Gor Mahia methodically demolished Chemelil Sugar 4-1.
This match will be remembered for a number of factors:
Four Star Olunga
First off Michael Olunga made history when he scored four goals in one match. This author cannot remember the last time a Gor Mahia player scored four times in one match. One might have to go back to the free scoring days of players like Hezborn Omollo, Maurice Ochieng “Sonyi” and Ouma “Chege”. Indeed this season is starting to look like the 1984 season when Gor Mahia scored in incredible 80 goals.
The accuracy and poise with which Olunga took those goals is something to marvel at. But each of those goals were the result of well constructed moves and accurate assists. Olunga must thank his team-mates because these were all team goals.
“It is a good omen to start the second leg like this. In fact, it has given us a lot of morale and we are determined to do even better,” Olunga said to the Standard.
Even Olunga seems to understand that this was a superb and tactically astute team effort, Which brings us to the second point.
Tactical Switch.
Coach Frank Nuttall showed once again that he is a master chess player. Chemelil appeared to have found a formula for stopping Gor Mahia in the first half. They had much of the possession, they stifled Gor Mahia strikers and had several attempts on goal in the first half. But whereas coach Mururi stuck to his first half switch, coach Nuttall made a number of tactical changes which sliced open the Chemelil Sugar defence in the second half. The ability to think quickly and make adjustments according to the flow of the game is what separates excellent coaches from ordinary posers.

There is Plenty to cheer
Gor Mahia are still 12 points atop the standings with an incredible 34 goals scored and only 7 goals conceded. This season has seen some amazing performances for Gor Mahia. There was the classic goal by Kagere against All Stars. There is the sudden emergence of Ali Abondo as an international calibre player. And you cannot forget Collins Okoth’s ascendancy to captain of Harambee stars. There is also the fact that four out of the top three leading scorers in KPL are from Gor Mahia. And of course Olunga’s heroic performance on Saturday and more yet to come. The way Gor Mahia are playing now, we should start seeing the kind of crowds we saw in 2010 and 2011.

Yes…..the writing is on the wall ! The shades of 1984 is here with us and i have already said this team resembles the class of1984 in all departments. I will not be surprised if gor mahia wins the coverted treble – league, cecafa and gotv cup.
Secondly, it has become rather obvious that the league will be won on the 23 rd league game. So kogallo fans christmas this time is coming early …time to motivate the boys even more

Congrats for the team for the win and Olunga for the goals. I only hope the rumors that Olunga will soon leave for trials either in Austria or SA at BidVest Uni are just that. However much we wish him the best in life maybe the departure is too soon
Mike should dedicate his time for Studies not to go out for trial, how many Players has left Kenya if there are Red hot and they come back worn out completely the best example is his team mate Black Berry. Argents are there only to make money from Players talents. Mike please finish your Degree before you leave this Counry, there is life after foofball and that life is EDUCATION???

Thanks to all involved in this exemplary performance but above all the Almighty for helping us stay as a family. My request to Olunga is not to rush his move, you will put the team in the CAF champions competition, I wish to see what you can do with the current teammates there, you will even raise your value far beyond what it is now.
let someone tell Olunga or any other player who wish to leave Gor that this year 2015, other opposition has not been strong. The chances are our players are not delivering on all cylinders and they can easily fail in high octane environment.
Boys, go slowly. Take this advice seriously. Take another year or two, my be the KPL will have the kind of players you can gauge yourself against.

Please please Mike, make sure you complete your Degree before you move out of the County, how many Players has left County if there are RED-HOT but when there come back, you cant believe they were playing Football. The best example is Back Berry. The argent are just ready to reep from your talents and you shuold know that there is life after fooball and that life is EDUCATION??
Is it true that an out-of-contract Oliech wants to join Gor for no pay for six months as he shops for another club?
I heard Oliceh is in Dubai, am also here but I cant know which club he’s playing for. If he want to join Gor as said by Dan Original, I don’t think its a good idea. He should now gives chance to young players to pursue their dreams. Let him enjoy his wealth and participate in community services. He has done well enough. Last but not least, my kind request to Nuttal, please create chance for Agwanda, we want to see his worth in Green Army.
