Gor Mahia stumbles but the chase continues

The draw against Sofapaka dented Gor Mahia’s hopes of retaining the league title that they won for three seasons in a row. They now trail leaders Tusker by four points. But with five matches left, the league title is still very much within Gor Mahia’s Tusker since the latter have not exactly been a model of consistency.

“None of these two teams wants to be champions,” football analyst and former Tusker coach Jacob “Ghost” Mulee said. “When Tusker drop points, Gor do the same. When Gor is expected to win, they drop points,” said TV analyst Jacob Ghost Mulee.
To be sure, Gor Mahia still have some crucial encounters to play, in particular against AFC leopards and against Tusker. That match could very well decide who wins the league. Tusker too have to play against Ingwe.
For Gor Mahia, they once again have to pick the positives from the match and learn from it.

“There are three results in football; a win, loss and draw. We got a draw and we appreciate for that. This is just football and it requires patience so one point is enough to be thankful but I think we will work on missed chances and see how strikers can score goals,”said assistant coach Tom Ogweno to Supersport.

Ogweno suggested that Sofapaka came in knowing exactly how to defend against Gor Mahia and it worked for them.

“Sofapaka’s strategy worked for them and that it can only leave us to work for next time. There is no pressure despite the few remaining matches anything can happen but I believe we are still in the title race since we haven’t loss this one,” he continued.

Coach Ze Maria will now be hard pressed to change his tactics before the next game and even within the game. And he will have more than two weeks to re-strategize. The next game will be against Western Stima on October 12.

Ngala accuses Sofapaka of sabotage

Organizing secretary Ronald Ngala for his part accused Sofapaka of sabotage.

“It was like sabotage because you could see they were fighting for a point which had no impact on their survival chances. They played like a final and you wonder where the stubborn goalkeeper was all along when they were losing almost every match. Had they played the way they did yesterday Sunday they would definitely not be at the bottom,” Ngala complained.Ngala is said to Citizen digital.

Ngala admitted that the draw was a huge blow.

“It is a big blow to our bid to lift the KPL title for the fourth time in a row. We were relieved to have reduced the seven-point gap between us and Tusker to only two. Failing to maintain it was disappointing,” he said.

But he says the team is not giving up until its completely over.

“We will accept the league is gone if Tusker will be ahead of us by more than three points after the 29th. The mistake people are making is comparing our performance with that of last season which was an exceptional year,” he added.

Game over admin, let’s admit and move one.

Even the next game against western stima will be twice as hard as they are also gunning for second position.

Sir henry omino yesterday on supersport said something that kept me thinking if we have the right TB..”gor mahia build up play from the flanks and bypass the mid field. You cut the flanks and got mahia has no game strategy. Sofapaka did a good job ”

    Tafakari hayo…

I wonder what is over for GM! People cry too loudly at GM some people here are not fans but opponents in disguise!

I wish they could openly celebrate when their true teams win instead of pretense!

GM will still win this league 2016

I admit the low quality of football displayed by GM this season..too low player mentality exhibited so far and too poor technical approach in our game, though.

  • It’s muho who damaged got by allowing tusker easy goals. Poor defensive marking and slack goalkeeping, especially the first two goals. Ideally, even though you say gor mahia’s wing approach is predictable, the tusker style of play is the most boring I have ever watched. They don’t play with the tempo of champions in contention. Their football is more predictable than gor mahia’s and I tell you for sure that in the remaining fixtures, tusker might find it difficult against teams that will approach them with agility unlike muhoroni that appeared compromised before the afraha match. If bandari puts up their high level fight in their assignment against tusker, then look for me for a prize if tusker bags whole three points. So kogallo fans it is not over until it’s over. Any team between the front two can slip up…and I promise tusker is most likely.

Had we played the way we did in the first leg, or during CECAFA 2015 or during 2015 league WE WOULD BE 2016 CHAMPIONS BY NOW!

Herein lies the problem. Can you believe such escapist reasoning. COMRADES:

    FISH ROTS FROM THE TOP.

    I reiterate:
At the next SGM/AGM put all EC on yearly written performance contracts with these 3 minimums. GMFC MUST :
    1) qualify for a continental tournament,
    2) qualify for at least the semi-final for every CECAFA tournament we participate in,
    3) qualify for at least the group stages / the 3rd round of CAF tournament,

  • Is it not amazing how Ngala can talk such nonsense about Sofapaka. Can they leave the other teams alone and face Gor Mahia problems head on. We understand the EC members like Ngala are hard pressed to prove that Zimaria is superior to FN whom they frustrated. Ngala your day of reckoning has come sooner than you expected.

As we prepare for fate;of our 5 foreign super talents I think 2 are good while one;Karim very predictable. The other two should just be sold.On other matters if Karim who is always in good position can occasionally cut in and pass like the one of Tutisenge-nondi then we could create chances and even win penalties.
