Gor Mahia take on Chemelil Sugar

Last year, Eliud Lokuwam scored to give Gor Mahia a 1-0 win over Chemelil

Gor Mahia will be aiming to put their 2018-2019 campaign back on track. This after they lost their second match of the season to Kariobangi Sharks last week. They take on Chemelil Sugar at Machakos on Wednesday.

It has been a poor start to the season, losing to Bandari in the league opener then to Kariobangi. To put things in perspecyive, last season, Kogalo won their first three games. Also last season Gor Mahia won their first leg matches against Bandari and Kariobangi Sharks by scores of 2-0 and 2-1 respectively.

Skipper Harun Shakava says that they are putting 2018 behind them and are determined to start the new year on a positive note.

“New year comes with new resolutions, we might have started the season badly but that was last year. We now want to approach our remaining matches this year with a winning mentality, starting with today’s match against Chemelil Sugar,” Shakava said to the Nation.

Chemelil have four points. They beat Mt Kenya United in their last match and will be keen to build on that win.

Coach Francis Baraza expects a tough match from Gor Mahia.

“ It will be tough but we will give it our best . We respect Gor despite the bad run, they are the champions and I doubt they will want to lose another game,” he said to the Nation

Last year the sugar millers were no pushovers. They held Gor Mahia 2-2 in the first leg and lost 0-1 in the second leg.
