Gor Mahia take on KCB next

Gor Mahia have a chance to get back on track when they take on KCB on Wednesday. Per the KPL website, the match will be played at City stadium. Kickoff time is 4:15pm.

After a bright start, Gor Mahia has slumped, gaining only one point in the last three games amid reports of disquiet in the camp. Throughout all this, coach Williamson has tried to put on a brave face.

“I really don’t want to discuss what happened in Mombasa since it’s in the past now. We have started training again and our focus is now on our next match, against KCB FC,” Williamson said.

“We have ample time to prepare ourselves and correct the mistakes and I hope we will bounce back,” he told supersport

KCB are not doing any better. In fact they are second from bottom with three points. But KCB has always been a tough nut to crack and last year they beat Gor Mahia in the second leg. Gor Mahia will not only be looking to get back on track but also to earn a measure of revenge.

Bobby Williamson however says his team will not underrate the opponents.

“It will be a very tricky match since they (KCB) want to get their season back on track and therefore are hungry to register a win. I urge my boys to treat the match with the seriousness it deserves,” he told supersport.

He will have more options as Israel Emuge, Musa Mohamed David Juma , David Owino and Anthony Akumu have all resumed training. He will need them when he comes up against Mungai Kiongera, a man who knows Gor Mahia and their strategies very well.

Fans will also be hoping that the players have put their issues behind them and are ready to focus on the task at hand. One player who many fans are hoping will get back on track is George Odhiambo “Blackberry”. He has done well at times but has yet to regain the kind of form that saw him named KPL player of the year in 2010. He will be needed in order to reduce the over-reliance on Sserunkuma.

If someone had told you last year that you would have Rama, Sserunkuma and Blackberry all in the same line-up, you would have expected fireworks. But that combination has yet to yield results. Hopefully coach Williamson has been busy working on strategies and on cohesion to make those forwards productive. Sometimes it takes a while to get co-strikers to build cohesion.

Another area that must improve is the defense. After starting with three clean sheets, the defense has suddenly become porous.

@ Jakoyo you are too much critical. You seem to know alot on coaching issues. No team goes to the field with an intetion to loose a match. Let us only wish the team well. But if we loose or draw a game then that is foot ball.

  • @ Jakoyo, why can you apply for coaching job in Gor Mahia? Your statement is highly regrettable at this stage when the team is struggling. At this moment in time, we all need to give the team moral and maximum support. Threats can’t work. let us support the team instead of engaging on sideshows.

Please note that any thuggery or hooliganism will make the team pay dearly including deduction of already earned points since KPL/FKL/GoK are very clear. We have to be very careful on this matter.

We should remember that the two teams we are meeting KCB and Ulinzi have bot not registered any wins. It therefore means thay have more at stake than even us who are striving to go back to our winning ways while these two teams are struggling to know how it feels to win. That alone tells you that those two games are really going to be tough, technical, dirty and not in terms of entertainment. At times you have to play non-entertaining football and win. A case in point was the ManCity win over the weekend.
This issue of we MUST win this and that game will not apply in this year’s league. We have to fight for literally every point or be as lucky as Tusker who whilst conceding in each and every games usually gets a penalty and recovers from a loss.
If we don’t want to hurt the team further than it’s hurting we have to get out of that HOOLIGANISM mindset.

  • That man Jakoyo cannot even coach his children (if he has any) So, how can he come near GM. Jakoyo is proving to be a sympathizer of the hooligans. In fact, it seems he thrives in that confusion and he is not comfortable that there has been peace in 2014 despite the draws and losses. It looks to me that he is bearing a big financial loss as a result of the peace.

Fellow supporters, let us turn up in large numbers and support the team, whether they win, loose or draw. Whether they play sexy or direct football. We should make Jakoyo and his allies bankrupt by the end of it all.

Dan Original and Jared, you speak like 100 people.Tell them that this football is round and sometimes you win sometimes you lose. And that is what is the fun in a competition. Those who do not want to lose just keep off, for us genuine supporters we will be with ours come rain or shine. On Wednesday I will be there and cheer to the end whether the team is winning or not.If we bring all those things that some of us exchange on this blogg then we will be damned, doomed, finished kabisa.

SOMETHING NASTY TO AVOID: Name calling of players during matches, some players are very sensitive to that and even lose their rythm; I once heard somebody shouting very nasty things at of all the people “Blackberry”, how quickly do we forget what this boy was just a few years ago!!! He is yet to score a goal but that should cannot be an excuse to insult him,I think soon he will score and keep scoring.I have used only this one example but there are many instances when we shout loud insults and negative comments at players during matches.

2 be hired coach of a high ranking club like GM requires high credentials but that does’nt prevent any blogger from having an opinion on the TB whether positive/negative especially if guided by results.
R we paying our TB top dollar 2 hope 4 wins but expect loses not even draws?
Nay watch this space GM looses against KCB & expect tough questions/reaction from “true” fans nt those advocating 4 GM 2 b demoted/docked pts.

Players at times usually experience bad form. They cannot be at their peak all the time. Research has shown that this happens mostly with strikers but it does’nt mean they become bad players! That’s why coaches keeps on fielding these players (strikers) even in their bad form. This helps them to regain confidence and get back their form. So those who are shouting at the players while in the field are doing it out of ignorence and killing the club.

I disagree with Ochoro #13. If a player is in bad form he should be benched until he regains his form. An astute coach can watch the players in training and see who is in form and who is not. League matches cannot be used to help a player regain form.

Coach just needs to find the right combinations and stick with it as long as it works. We need a different player to step up not just Danny Flava all the time.

I think BB has become too big and lost some of his quickness. Make him shed some kilos. And more important, psych him so he can regain his confidence of old. Coaches are also pyschologists

@ Joe Riaga even world class class strikers like Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Suarez e.t.c. will never give the same performance in every game and never score in every game they participate in. Remember a player can respond perfectly to training but perfoms poorly when fielded.

  • Everyone is entitled to his opinion wether positive or negative .Therefore we should avoid name calling n appreciate that we have divergent opinion. Truth must be said that currently our form is poor but when it‘s better we will appreciate as well . There‘s no need to castigate Jakoyo infact as it has been suggested here by Riaga that coach needs to find a player who can step up for Danny incase he‘s absent. I believe we will beat KCB convincingly.

The problem is name calling, not criticism. Playing can be psychological that is why fans are called the twelfth man. Okach Biggy would say i don’t know everything…. Kochopo etwak upenj Jim orengo, kochope rech upenj… Modong upenj Agwambo. Let the coach do his work with a focus not distractions from busy bodies. Come kcb come.
