Gor Mahia take on SoNy Sugar

Having beaten Tusker in a stormy semi final, Gor Mahia will take on SoNy Sugar in the final of the 2015 KPL Top 8 on Saturday. Gor Mahia won 4-3 aggregate over their intense rivals. The first leg ended 2-2 while Gor Mahia won the second leg 2-1. It marked the 3rd time that Gor Mahia has beaten Tusker this season.

But SoNy will be no pushovers. They beat Tusker 3-1 for a 5-3 aggregate win. That is an impressive feat for a side that was battling relegation early in the season. SoNy battled Gor Mahia gamely when the two sides met at Nyayo stadium in September. Only an Innocent Wafula goal separated the two sides.

The match will be played in Kisumu where Gor Mahia receives fanatical support. And SoNy Sugar are braced for what is likely to be an intense atmosphere.

“We have worked so hard to get to the final. Against Gor Mahia, there is a lot of intimidation from the fans and very little margin of error,” Sony’s Justin Monda to the Nation.

SoNy will have to deal with the in form Gor Mahia attack led by Michael Olunga and Meddie Kagere. Though Olunga missed out on the KPL top scorer award, he will likely win the title of domestic leading scorer in all competitions. His second goal against SoNy is typical of what makes Olunga a great striker, his ability to be in the right place at the right time. Against Tusker, he intercepted a backpass from a Tusker defender.

“It is all about anticipation because I scored a similar goal here against Ushuru. As a striker you have to read the intentions of a defender and when I realized he (Musana) was undecided I knew he would give a back pass,  that is why I ran towards the keeper” said Olunga to futaa.com

Could Cheche join Gor Mahia?

Former Tusker defender David Ochieng Cheche could join Gor Mahia in the coming season. The dependable central defender was seen among Kogalo players during the trophy ceremony on Sunday. He has also been seen in Gor Mahia attire lately. Cheche’s contract with Al Tawoon ended months ago and he has been without a club since then.

Also at the trophy ceremony last weekend was Liberian stopper Dirkir Glay whose contract with South African side Mpumalanga Black Aces was terminated less than a month after he signed for them.

  • ME ODHIABO ACHACHA I WOULD HAVE LIKE JOACHIM ATUDO TO JION TWO ISRAELITE’S, YANI HARUN AND MUSA, BUT IF OCHIENG CHECHE IS FREE TO JOIN K’OGALO THE I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT. JOACHIM,MUSA & HARUM ALL ARE ISRAELITE’S. THIS CHRISTMAS DAY WE CELEBRATED EVRY YEAR, IS THE DAY JOACHIM KING OF ISRAEL WAS RELEASED FROM CAPTIVITY. SHIS WILL GIVE SHAKAVA FREE ROLL, INCASE GOR MAHIA IS PLAYING AWAY MATCHES. SHAKAVA CAN SCORE VERY EASILY IF GIVEN FREE ROLL. THAT’S ME NOT YOU.

So far the best news from this gormahia site for such a long time that cheche n dirkirr clay are back

I thank God that cheche wil join gor n this will be the best backline In Africa coz cheche is a solid defender n for a long time he been training with gor squad n learned alot from nutall

Now that clay dirkir is back my passionate appeal to gor office please renew the work permit for clay n extend his contract. His exploits with his Liberia national team speaks for itself infact they walloped guinea Bissau in world cup stages n clay played

My plea to coach is no to train shakava to play as a central striker so that they can combine with olunga n kagere coz in Caf will meet tallest defenders. Now that cheche n dirkir clay will join us.

Now that the kpl n fkf is coming to an end this month. I urge the gor office to only give players Dec rest n resume immediately in January for training coz Caf starts February. If it is salary they can play friendlies n charge gate fees n this should be in kisumu coz us kisumu fans like filling the stadium n paying gate. So office don’t wait last minute to start rushing rem other African countries clubs are middle of there season n players have gelled well

Cheche news is the best i’ve heard, this is one of the best defensive midfielders i know, though at times used as a defender, if we would have had him during cecafa to play instead of Eric Ochieng, i don’t think azam would have beaten us.
I request Prof. Nuttal to use him alongside Aucho when Okoth’s form is down or in pacy matches like the one we had against Azam, tusker and CAF champions league, he is very fast, can cover for defenders and can disrupt play without causing unnecessary fouls and mouthing refs, and can transform play into attack with speed and precision.

  • @Omondi if you want Gor to progress in Champions league then Cheche will have to be on the field. You should know that our central defence is not tight .We only succeed because we attack often, otherwise such situation will crop up;like the 2-2 draw with Tusker in Nakuru

  • eei @Henry Chacha, hiyo odiero yako chicha, on the same breath we should also look for attacking central midfielder, currently we don’t have one and to me the best we can go for is Hum Mieno, also this boy Ndirangu from Nakuru Allstars he is pacy and can take on defenders
