Gor Mahia take on Western Stima

Gor Mahia fans will be hoping that the club can get back on track when they take on Western Stima on Saturday. Gor Mahia has not won a match in six attempts. There was a loss and a draw against Tusker in the KPL Top 8 tournament. A loss to arc rivals AFC leopards in the KPL followed by draws with KRA and Thika United.

Some of this was caused by the instability caused by player transfers. Some players were busy attending trials or preparing for trials or not training at all in order to avoid injuries before trials. Others may have been distracted by offers from other clubs as all kinds of rumours flew around. Still others were unsettled by the prospect of losing a large number team-mates, which can have a demoralizing effect. Then there is the financial instability at the club occasioned by KRA which the club EC still has not addressed. Now that the dust is settling and there is a level of stability in the playing unit, Coach Williamson will have had time to find working combinations.

The last time these two teams met, Gor Mahia won 2-0 at the City stadium. However Western Stima will be no pushovers as Tusker found out last week. With talisman Sserunkuma away in Denmark for trials, it will be interesting to see whom Williamson plays upfront. He has options. Timothy Otieno who showed some flashes of promise last week could be deployed. There is the new signing Arthur Ssemazi as well as veterans George Odhiambo and Patrick Oboya. Fans will hope that returnee Collins Okoth picks up where he left off last week.

All the best Kogalo. We want to start setting up the gap between us and the other teams before we go to Rwanda next month.
On another note it’s sad that Rama failed his trials and Celtic and has literally locked himself from the TPL. If only he had a good advisor he could have signed a non-binding contract at Gor so that in case he doesn’t make it then he can always come back. Now he will have to bow down to the other party in case he wants to continue playing competitive football. Not sure that Amazulu will take him in as SA football is of a higher class than Kenya. For a foreigner to excell you must be exceptional, maybe Daddy was but we didn’t think he stood a chance.
Anyway best wishes to Dr. Rama
