Gor Mahia takes on Tusker in Supercup

The twice postponed DSTV Supercup will take place this Sunday at Afraha featuring Gor Mahia and Tusker. This cup usually features the winners of the league and the winners of the GoTV Shield. However the sponsors likely settled on Gor Mahia in order to draw crowds.

The match is scheduled for Sunday, 5-March-2017 at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru from 3pm. Gate charges for the match are KSh500 and KSh200.

The long awaited Kenya Premier League will start the following weekend. Gor Mahia will start their campaign against newly promoted Kariobangi Sharks that is owned by FKF chair Nick Mwendwa. The league will start with 16 teams as KPL awaits a tribunal decision on whether to include Sofapaka and Muhoroni Youth.

2017 SportsPesa Premier League Round One fixtures:

Saturday March 11 – Tusker vs Nzoia United (TBA), Bandari vs Nakumatt (Mbaraki), Kakamega vs Homeboyz vs Team Y (Mumias), AFC Leopards vs Ulinzi Stars* (TBA), Zoo Kericho vs Posta Rangers (TBA)

Sunday March 12 – Mathare United vs Thika United (TBA), Kariobangi Sharks vs Gor Mahia (TBA), Sony Sugar vs Chemelil Sugar (Awendo), Western Stima vs Team X (Kisumu)

Since DSTV has withdrawn their sponsorship of the Cup why not bring in another broadcaster/sponsor for it

  • A perfect test for ze maria. He should win this important match to prove wrong those who have doubted his capability.Somebody tell us, will the match be live on supersport now that DSTV has pulled out their sponsorship?

  • @Admin, they did not pick on Gor to attract crowds. It is the acceptable international practice to have the League winner play the runners-up if the same team wins both League and Domestic Cup

Hehehehe. That’s quiet imaginative of you admin. Ati the sponsors choose Gor Mahia in order to draw crowds?! I thought this was occasioned by the fact the brewkenge won both the league and the shield cups there4 because they can’t play against themselves…..the league’s number two becomes the automatic contender. Ama mwasemaje wangwana?

Otherwise, a good test for our charges. For me I will be interested more in how we play rather than whether we win or not.

  • Odhis Muga the game won’t be aired live as sponsor has pulled out.Infact at this rate let’s hope DStv doesn’t completely decide to pull out as the official broadcast sponsor of the Kenya Premier League leaving us with no option but to go for Azam TV like our neighbours Uganda and Tanzania thereby forcing us to purchase other set top boxes akin to startimes just to keep a breath with our beloved GM matches

  • Lol, sadly there will be no prize money for the clubs just a trophy and medals.Surely can’t the KPL chairmen plan, even forego some meeting allowances or the numerous overseas trips to raise the prize money for the KPL SUPERCUP.Players hopefully will get their allowances/bonuses even if it takes a go slow but how will the clubs recover their expenses. It devalues the purpose of winning the league/GoTv. Next crisis is “TBA” in league fixtures i.e games with no venues due to stadiums being renovated for CHAN. Will GMFC be allowed to use Nyayo with the 4.5 years office rent arrears? Is Kenyan football progressing or regressing? Remind me who has been/is the KPL Chairman of Chairmen. Did DsTv just wake up on 3/3/17 and say they are not sponsoring the Supercup anymore? Anyway let the countdown for Ze Maria begin. Supercup +5 KPL games to prove that Muho game was not a fluke!

  • So other teams will play X and Y? That is very hilarious.
I guess X and Y are Sofamiaow and Muhoroni Youth.
Now to Ze Maria: Save us the blushes by thoroughly beating this Kariobangi Mwendwa team. Pleeeeeaaase!
Mwendwa has a hobby of rubbing anything Gor Mahia the wrong way.
Don’t just beat this team. Be your best and send this team to the gallows.

  • In my earlier thread, I questioned the legality of KPL announcing the date of the DSTVcup, it should have been DSTV making the announcement……….A few hours later, am vindicated as DSTV pulls the plug on the sponsorship.

Could it be like somebody has alluded that DSTV is planning to throw the proverbial towel at last and hand over this confused andmurky soccer business in Kenya to AZAMTV or even better BAMBA TV? They have just lost the sponsorship deal for Ghana football. Food for thought!

Am I the only one who has noticed this or not” kindly check the number of postings on the last headline”- (Gor Mahia takes Tusker in the dstv super cup!!! May be this headline leaves very little room for the usual suspects to castigate the honorable EC led by my learned friend- AR. We need this peace to prevail for long so that the EC can implement their agenda for Gor Mahia. Thank you.

    • Pray hard that a time will not come for the usual suspects to be begged to send money through pay bill no. Being “learned” is no synonymous with being wise. The level of sarcasm you portray here is equivalent to your lack of wisdom. Whether Mugabe to you is superhuman is what you should tell to the birds. By the way did you not write that you had risen high above the usual suspects? So you have come down again. Bure kabisa.

This site used to have mature and positive criticisms unlike these days where the site is being frequented by insults, garbage in garbage out, sh***, noises, bile, idiotic, abuses, name callings, negative, etc. Admin, at this rate, I can assure you that you are going to lose many level minded bloggers and advertisement opportunities.

  • Big question, why is Bernard not even on the bench? It seems he is incapable of playing in Gor.Another season of no play time? Bernard should terminate his contract in June and look for another club, otherwise in Gor he is doomed. Anyway best wishes to kogalo as they tackle brewkenge. Fellow bloggers please update us as the events unfold at Afraha.
