Gor Mahia through to last 8

In a match played at the Nairobi City stadium, Gor Mahia overcame the usually stubborn West Kenya Sugar 3-1. The match had been delayed by 1 hour following heavy downpour. Gor Mahia were playing without coach Zico and sans several players like Jerim Onyango, Eric Masika and Kevin Ochieng.

While West Kenya Sugar settled into a defensive formation, Kogalo went for a series of sleek interpassing movements that created chances for Selenga and Makori. Edwin Lavatsa hit the match opener in the 33rd minute when he weaved past two defender before finishing with a thunderous drive. Moments later, a goalbound header by Demonde Selenga was handled by a West Kenya defender. Tony Onyango slotted the resulting penalty and Gor Mahia went into the break up by 2 goals.

Kevin Amwayi pulled one back for West Kenya Sugar in the 65th minute. A well taken freekick by Lavatsa saw him grab a brace and Kogalo’s third to make the score 3-1

The next team to face Kogalo will be either Sparky Youth of Mombasa or Finlays of Naivasha.

Well done boys; that’s more like it!! The goals should keep coming. Is it a noteworthy coincidence that this win was registered in the absence of Zico?

other people have big ideas and focus than ZICO. Zico fixes matches by disorganising the team

  • Great result. Why does the technical bench insist on playing Selenga at central attack. The guy doesn’t concentrate. Defenders always intimidate him with their heights. He missed a clear header because of height and several other opportunities. I am starting to believe the fans are better coaches. People shouted for Baraza to be brought in when Harambee played and it changed the game. For goodness sake Zico trained with this man for two weeks? What is it Zico? Is Mulama better than Baraza? What is it? Is he better than Santos? Where was our saviour Masika. Is there anyone better than him at the moment in defending goal lines? Zico talks of a weak midfield yet he ignored Olando of Tusker in selection. Olando is currently the top midfielder in KPL. The coach talks of wasted chances but it was an issue of coordination. Oliech arrived on Sunday but first trained with the team on Wednesday. By Friday they were visiting children’s homes. Angola won and now we are back to our mathematics and wishful arithmetic. Zico please spend a little time and listen or read some of these blogs. When at the stadia, one gets a better view sitting up than at the bench. Please our next match just spend 30 minutes at VIP and watch the game as the fans do and maybe you will know why the fans seem to know better or maybe see better.

Zico coached Harambee stars played a very poor game. Meanwhile Kogalo minus Zico playved very well. That should tell you something. Zico is spoiling bith Harambee stars and Kogalo

Koops coming to watch Kogalo is no joke. It means he now knows how to prepare for KOgalo and we will be shocked next time. He knows the weaknesses and strengths. I wonder if Zico studies other teams

Poor Zico! I dont envy you. Guys will not miss an opportunity to pour scorn at you. Whether you win, loose or draw. The very players these ungrateful fans have been critising are the very ones who played against West Sugar. Now they want to convince the world that Gor won because ZD was not the coach. Very cheap aurgument indeed. The next thing you will hear is that Harambee Stars won because of Musa Otieno. Some fans on this blog really amuse me. For God and my club Kogallo

we played our best game of the season, particularly in the 1st half.though am not so sure about the quality of the opposition.lets not forget that w.k.s plays in natiowide 2.am not saying that w.k.s are shambolic nor do i want to take anything away from our boys’brilliance performance but i’d be happier if we could play the way we played againts againts a fellow premiership side.nevertheless it was a great display.
@ creative village i agree with you, selenge should be played wide.his terriffic pace would serve us better in the wings than as a centre forward.odera should also be played in games like this to regain his confidence.awilo should serve us better in the technical bench than as a fullback.you’ve served us wel but unfortunately the legs have become alittle bit tired. The team should reward him with a position in the technical bench.
Lavatsa is the hope and future of this team.zico with all his flaws and shortcomings in this one(lavatsa) he gave us a real gem!

@Pundit what you are saying amounts to sabbotage. If these players can perform when ZD is not on the bench and fail to perform when he is there only shows that somebody somewhere is trying to sabbotage the coach. You cannot convince me that whoever was incharge of the bench agaist West Sugar, tought these boys how to play footbal in less than a week. I beg to to differ. Those who attended the match, kindly give us the lineup. Some of us would really want to know who the wonder kids are. If Pundit’s arguement can be borrowed then it can as well be translated that Gor won because Gattuso, OCS, Kevin and Jerim were not fielded. May be we dont need this player as well. Kosero, in a nutshell Pundit means to say we have professional players who take the coach’s word for law..they play as per instructrions. ZD tell them to do the ‘yuora nena fame and they follow’…they change to the sleek style of soccer upon instruction in the absence of ZD. No one needs to feel bad about that coz style of game’s chosen by the individual coach.

  • Guys Let’s not cheat ourselves!! W.Sugar was so weak and in the process our weakness was also exposed. I attended the match and apart from Lavatsa and sometimes Selenge the rest were down. Dennis Wise had so many missed passes. Player no. 26 was playing for the crowd. Good control but no threat at all. Kiplagat showed some hunger to win. Awilo looks like he is over the hill, no wonder the boos from the fans. Generally a serious team like Congo would have beaten us hands down. Even the defence was manned by midfielders, Akumu and Anguyo. Therefore saying that we played better without Zico is like burying our heads in the sand. Those who genuinely love GM (and they are many on this blog) should not shy from pointing out the general problem. So @Kosero that’s what you missed. A good first half if you like hitting the ball around but no score or threat to the opposite keeper. Seriously Zico or no Zico we need to do something about our finishing. And these are things you learn on yourself . No waiting for a coach to show you how to score

THE IMPORTANT ROLE OF THE 12 PLAYER (FANS / FOLLOWERS)

GENTLE-MANS REPLY TO COMMENTS BY Albert Kosero (Sofaset Branch – Kampala)

@Albert Kosero please be informed that KO-GALO FANS HAVE THE ALL RIGHT SINCE ITS FORMATION IN 1968 TO IMPRESS ON GOOD PERFORMANCE CONSISTENTLY.

@Albert Kosero (Sofaset Branch – Kampala); why are becoming a “WATER-MELON” and reacting to individuals comments like A TRIGGER HAPPY COP who is ready to shoot at anything that is questioning on the ability of GM technical bench. Are you not behaving like the same “RUTO” you have been referring to on most occassion to some worthy and good contributors on this blog.

You first “CONGRATULATE” the team, then after a while you claim that fans are ENVYING “ZICO” and lastly you wind up by claiming that the same team players have been “SABOTAGING” the coach and that is why the teams performance has been very much questionable of late.

Please be informed that we the “KO-GALO” followers (Including yourself or is it “ZICO” himself?)NEITHER do we have anything personal against the coach or “YOURSELF” NOR do we ENVY HIM or YOURSELF as you so put it.

EVERYBODY INCLUDING YOURSELF (or IS IT “ZICO HIMSELF”?) IS ENTITLED TO MAKE HIS OR HER OWN INDEPENDENT POST MATCH-ANALYSIS, OPINION and post the COMMENTS WITHOUT FEAR, INTIMIDATION AND FAVOR.

Every time i post my very honest , authoritative and firmly convincing comments on this blog encouraging fans to “SEND ZICO PACKING BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE” you always react immediately against the suggestion.

I still stand by my initial comments that my club namely GOR-MAHIA lacks the “credibility-honours” even if it wins FKL CUP. This was a knock out tournament and we lost to CONGO-UNITED PERIOD!.

The only credible thing after the loss of our FKL tie with congo united on penalties was to concentrate on lifting the highly profiled 2011 KPL CUP.

If we all re-call we had thrashed AFC and we still had some games at hand. Had we taken this route seriously we were suppose to be 7 points ahead of TUSKER at this time and win the KPL 2011 confidently.

But look at where we are at the moment; 5 points below tusker as ULINZI is catching up minus the 6 points which they were slashed.

IT IS THIS INCONSISTENCY THAT WE ARE AGAINST and as such the back does not stop with you but the holder of the technical office; unless you are one and the same person.

This is what stands between us and the title.

Kogalo Nation, please tell me. Is there anywhere in the world a team gets this lucky? Of the remaining nine matches in a competitive league like this one, only one is away to a poor team like Bandari. Other away matches are at home. How many of you see the title in Gor’s cabinet. Zico do you see what i see?

The title is ours to loose. No excuses. No stories of fans didn’t cheer well, the strikers didn’t click, we had a weak midfield, it rained, we had a game in midweek, harambee stars were in camp, the fixtures were changed, even a draw is a good result or all others one can think of.

We always attend matches whether away or even in the rain. Management please make sure we are rewarded for our efforts. Otherwise you will have played your part in killing Kenyan soccer. We need the title.

@ 25 arrumtiddi stop day-dreaming with your wishful thinking because “STATISTIC DOES NOT SUPPORT YOUR WISH.

Even if ZICO’S -“Harambee star” plays SPAIN in an international build-up friendly before playing “CRANES” he lacks what it takes to move kenyan football to the next level.

His selection of local players and management of professional players is questionable.

I hear the so called “sofa-set branch” bragging that his fielding of players at club level is based on players commitment during training and of course regular attendance of the same .

But here we are with a national team captain arriving in the country on a Sunday and joins the camp on a Wednesday. Is that not in-subordination to the technical bench which he knows personally that is very much in-competent and can do nothing about it.

The other “pro” namely “MARIGA” faked his injury so as to concentrate with his new club and make to first eleven.

THIS TWO PLAYER RUN THE SHOW NOT “ZICO” and the “HARAMBEE STARS MANAGEMENT BOARD IS VERY MUCH AWARE.

That is why MUSA OTIENO “OTERO” was called in as a stop gap measure to help manage the team.

ZICO is in-competent and with his questionable character is just a matter of time before he is shown the door and replaced by foreign one with MUSA as the deputy.

WHY CAN YOU GUYS READ THE SIGN OF THINGS TO COME?

Why select and field local players based on the coach personal affiliation and not competence.

Why pick the weary “MULAMA’ because oliech is demanding on playing with old time buddies.

Why pick “WERE” who is bench warmer from TUSKER and leave “OLANDO” and “MIDENYO”. No wonder complaints from local coaches like pamzo and Nyagweso.

Why pick “WARURU” only after Nyagweso has complained. Where is “OSBORNE MONDAY”.

You read what his blue -eyed boy namely KEVIN OCHIENG said; that he does not mind winning “DIRTY”. Is this the calibre of players he has recruited to achieve their DIRTY TRICKS in Ko-galo.

ZICO WILL BE FIRED FROM HARAMBEE IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING THRASHED BY THE CRANE’S AS HE AWAITS HIS FINAL BASHING BY KO-GALO.

BY the way i read on one the dailies that he is planning to meet the same board to discuss his plans on the way forward with regard to final DO or DIE ” EAST AFRICAN DERBY”

CAN HE TELL US WHAT ARE HIS PLANS TO ENSURE THAT GOR CLINCH THE KPL 2011 TROPHY.

English or no English for once Kosero is “absolutely right”… With all the recent financial resources, ever loyal fans who attend GM’s matches in droves it follows that GM’s tastless and ineffective (YUORA NENA) performance is definitely SABOTAGE but by whom may I ask? The answers is:
1.The one who recruits the players. Odera, Selenge and Ochomo cant score under him yet he recruited them, y is it his style of play,
2.The one who trains the players & the one who chooses the line-up,
3.The one who determines the style of play b4 and during the match.
That department is the technical bench and its Head ONE ZICO. The other Gor department sleeping on the job is the office. On those asking which local coaches can replace Zico let me refer them to the blogs in April & May where dozens of names were suggested. Albeit this is the office’s reponsibilty and the buck stop with AR.Job Omino(RIP) got us Len Julians, Sonyi and Jack Johnson so over to you AR. Finally kudos to the players and bench for showing us they can at least put up a performance “when not under the direct influence of Zicoism”

Today I want to put the debate on our embattled coach aside because it has become a old number we’ve been listening.

The match on Sunday was 50-50. I am happy we utilized the chances we got wel. Wonderboy Lavatsa was no doubt the man of the match. By the end of 90 plus minutes, the boys gave the large crowd of supporters something to cheer home about.

Finally I wish to take this early opportunity to pay tribute to our team that participated in Daegu, south Korea for their sterlling performance. They lifted our flag high and were very proud of their achievement. As patriotic citizens let us all turn up at the airport to welcome back home our hereos.

@ okoth jabilo, kenya vs uganda like most derbies worldover, always defies current form, statistics or even history.i may not agree with zico’s modus operandi, but concerning the game in kampala, all of us are duty-bound to rally behind harrambee stars and by extension zico.I think all kenyans want to see harrambee stars in equitorial guinea/gabon come january. On oliech’s no shows in camp, that is the behaviour of ‘stars’world-over from balotelli to robinho to diouf and many others.the ‘superstar syndrome’ is not confined to deno alone.zico wil not take harrambee stars anywhere, that i agree, but for the match againts the cranes all of us should and as a matter of fact MUST rally behind harrambee stars and by extension zico (his ineptness and mediocrity notwithstanding). As somebody aptly put it,’lets chase the fox first, then afterwards warn the hen of roaming about’.our time for dealing with zico will definitely come, both at gor mahia and at harambee stars.for now lets’ deal with this little matter of qualification first, now that the mathematics are heavily on our side.

    Reply
  • @Arrumtiddi, that’s a good piece from you. Derbies are not won by current form. Remember we beat AFC after having been outplayed by Mathare a few days ago yet AFC ran over Thika while away. On the Stars coach we all know that he was a stop-gap coach until the board recruits a full-time coach. Now that EABL has come on board I hope this will happen though it can only happen after the UG game. I wonder what we men when we say that Kevin plays dirty. To me he is one of the more offensive players in GM and Harrambee. Why criticize ZD for all his recruits and not praise him at least for having gotten us Lavatsa? At least there must be some positive things from him like GM being the team with the best defence in KPL. All said and done we have the whole of December upto March next year to discuss the merits/demerits of the coach/management/players but our duty now is to support the team for the remaining matches. Those who cannot stand that should at least give the few who still have hope and faith in GM to do the needfull. We cannot continue moaning the whole time. @Wuon Pap, Please do your research and give the names of those great coaches and players that can lift us to glory for consideration at the end of the season. We should also note that this comes with greater financial responsibility. Note that a sponsorship of 18m per year for a squad of 30 players and say 5 technical bench might not be enough to get us a top-notch coach but maybe a foreigner who comes on holiday to Kenya. Something for us to think about. Some of us might not like what @Kosero says but he sounds more sober and less emotional and hence if we adopt some of his ideas we might be able to manage our expectations. Some of us behave like their world will end if we don’t win the league. These expectations unfortunately at times result in some uncivilised behaviour which in turn messes our otherwise-good name. By the way the reason Tusker might win the league could be because some of the negative energies/comments from our fans to players/coach/management doesn’t apply there. Let’s meet at City on Sato and increase the pressure on Tusker.

I agree with Dan on very few issues, one of them is that at least Zico has some positives..i wish to name but a few..he’s not been mentioned so much on the Juju back wardness and he handles the press with very little pressure..

Guys, i am satisfied with my criticism of ZD but truly no one messes every-time with everyone. This prompts me to say that with Harambee stars this guy can do something because of his better management of defense..its superb defensive system that wins at the international level.
Also remember we played wonderful football at Angola only to be denied a clean goal by the referee and an undeserved goal awarded to the Angolans.

Give ZD Harambee stars for sometime and you will see very positive results but K’ogalo NO..at Kogalo expect very little unless if KPL comes up with a trophy for best losers.Remember there are coaches who perform very well at the National level but do poorly at the clubs and vice versa.

Lastly, friends lets criticize and praise deservedly this is not politics football is a real venture!

THE CHANGING TRENDS IN THE WORLD OF SOCCER.

@36 omondiomollo; Thanks a million times for your very informative, educative and extremely interactive news about the GERMANY football.

This is exactly what i have been writing about every time i post my comments on this blog.

The tactical formation being proposed by the GERMANY COACH has been tested during Euro 2012 qualifying fixtures and international friendly matches of which they did extremely well.

SPAIN play possessive football of 4-2-3-1 and the only way GERMANY can contain them is by applying 4-1-4-1 set-up which has flexible formation with the role of a central mid-field play-maker that roves around the opponent box and Defensive mid-field Anchor that roves and shields the back line box.

IN MODERN SOCCER TERMS ITS REFERRED TO AS “BOX-TO-BOX”.

    For those of us who have the opportunity of browsing through above quoted web-site @36 by omondiomollo;

    Please read for yourself on how all the stake holders are challenging the coach on the following;

    1. Which pattern to be applied depending with the
    playing style of the opponents;

    2. And of course the criteria of selecting players
depending on there strength and weakness and also
their compatibility with preference pattern and
    formation.

BELOW IS ONE OF THERE COMMENTS!

    ……….AND I QUOTE
The only way to beat teams like Spain is too attack them! If you let them have the ball the whole game there is a 1% chance of winning! Im glad “Low” is finally being more attack minded cause Germany got dominated in the world cup against Spain.Who cares if you give up goals if you score more than the opponent… last time I checked winning 3-2 is the same as 1-0 and its a lot more entertaining! Thank you “Low” for finally modernizing.
    ………..END OF QUOTE

Now the only point to learn from this precious piece of comment is that for GOR MAHIA to move to next level then we need a coach who can MODERNIZE.

To modernize is no “ROCKET SCIENCE”. What a truly trained, professional, intelligent and upright thinking technical bench needs is only learn the strength and weakness of your opponents and then use the right “TACTICS” with correct playing unit to “UNDO” them.

@Albert Kosero,@arrumtiddi and @Dan, PLEASE BE INFORMED THAT IN THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL YOU CAN NOT HAVE MONOPOLY OVER THE BEST IDEAS OTHER THAN SHARING AND ACCEPTING YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS. I HOPE AT LEAST FOR ONCE YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO LEARN.

AND I REPEAT “HARAMBEE CAN NOT WIN BECAUSE OF OUR PATRIOTISM BUT OTHER THAN EMBRACING THE BEST TACTICS AND TECHNIQUE WHICH IS INCLUSIVE OF PROPER PLAYERS SELECTION.

Please the “right attitude team-ZD” i leave it for you to digest that for the week as we keep on brainstorming and interacting as very honest and good web-based buddies in the world of “KO-GALO FOLLOWERS”

HAVE A PLEASANT WEEK AS WE AWAIT “CONGO UNITED” AND HOPEFUL LET US PRAY THAT ALL THE BAD OMENS OF “DRAWS” OR “LOSS” GO BACK TO WHERE THEY RIGHTFULLY BELONG ALTHOUGH FOOTBALL IS MADE FROM THE “HAND OF MAN”.

@jabillo,i like your enthusiasm and the way you so vigorously defend your cause(s).but bro okoth, either you read my @34, out of context,or you simply chose to ignore the issue raised.zico,is neither arrigo sachh, vicente del bosque nor joachim low.he is not even near these mens’ assistants.Again this does not mean that he’s a village ner do well.
Many times on this very blog, and from the stands i have, criticised zico on his style of play, tactics and fielding of players, and many more times i will. But i also give credit where its’ due even if the beneficiary of such credit is zico.it is the height of non-objectivity,to brand people who dont agree with your school of thought as ‘team so and so’,it just goes to show the unprecedented, lows some people can stoop to advance an agenda(no mat/ter how good the agenda is).most kogallo fans are in agreement that,we should perform a post morterm in november to determine zicos’stay.as for h/stars the judgement wil come in a months’ time.
some of us are too pre-occupied with the ‘zico must go’ call that it makes you think that there is something more than meets the eye.or are they more gor and kenyan than evrybody?

@JAHAKOREMO, you may call me anything. I am used. Ghost Mulei was once Tusker/Harambee coach, Kimanzi was Mathare/Harambee coach, Kheri was Bandari/Harambee coach, for sure I did not hear anybody saying anything about them. I am starting to believe that some of us have personal issues with this man ZD. Concerning perfomance, it is very simply and clear, he either delivers or else should take a walk. Our point of disagreement is when he should take a walk. I am saying, lets wait for the final match on 26th November, then do what we know how to do best, sack the dude. As for Harambee, its exactly one month from now. If he fails to beat cranes, he should consider himself sacked. I am not ZD, I dont know him and I am not keen on knowing him other than as Gor’s coach. What I am advocating for is order. We are all learned I believe, and there should be a difference between learned people and villagers. We should not behave like wild animals. Most of us on this blog are employed in one way or the other. There is usally what they call perfomance appraisals. This is usually done twice or once a year depending on the organization. It is after this exercise that the management can decide to keep you or throw you out. We call Gor a professional outfit, why dont we embrase some of the best practises used in running businesses. For Gor to attract the best local coaches after ZD, they have to treat the current team with decorum. No one wants to work for an organization that does not respect her employees. For God and my club Kogallo.

Uganda : Williamson warn Kenya to expect a rude welcome in Kampala
Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson has promised to ‘massacre” Kenya’s Harambee Stars during their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying return leg-match slated for October 8 in Kampala, Uganda.

He said Uganda has a clean record playing at home adding that Namboole National stadium will be reduced to a “ slaughtering house” for the fancied Kenyans when they come calling. He said losing 2-0 to Angola was a wake up call for them to pull up their socks and stop taking things lightly.
“We don’t lose at home. No way shall we lose to Kenya and I don’t care what everybody says, really,” said the Scot.
Speaking at Mana-Lu Hotel in the Luanda suburb of Roche Pinto, where the Uganda Cranes were lodged, Williamson felt short of saying he will throw in the towel if they fail to beat Kenya. “ Indeed,we are sad for losing to Angola. They have reduced the gap
and threw the group wide open. But this time, I can assure you we shall seal Kenya’s fate even in the first half.I have instructed my foreign based players to come early if possible two weeks before our match against Kenya and plot on how we can ambush them” said the award winning Uganda coach.
Uganda last lost a home match in 2005 against South Africa and their last match in Nairobi ended goalless last year. “The truth is we never played well, really and Angola were deserving winners. I watched them against Guinea Bissau and Kenya, this is the best I’ve seen them play. “What is disappointing is we never created anything, never
played our best. But I’m positive, very positive we’ll beat Kenya. They won’t make it
easy for us but we have to do our job. We hope to have all players as early as possible and we’ll field as many attack-minded people as possible. Uganda remain top of Group J on 10 points, one ahead of Angola and three in front of Kenya. If Uganda could have beaten Angola over the weekend, they could have confirmed their return to the Nations Cup after 34 years wait. Goals by Manucho Goncalves and Flavio Amado shattered their
    hopes of opening a champagne.

  • ZICO IS NOT THE PROBLEM: YOU ARE

Elsewhere on this blog, I promised to demonstrate why i strongly believe Zico is not the problem at K’ogalo but you.

Since the beginning of the season, a section of our fans started to criticize the performance & competence of coach Zico. It is on record that a section of you have dismissed just everything, and I dare say it again just everything that coach ZD introduces, never mind it’s relevance to the club.

Be it be players selection, training method, fielding, formation & results, none of them all is Zico getting it right. Some of you have no respect to some senior members of GM! Some of your comments have been censored by the administration.

Is this the way to build a club? Certainly not. Are you still eager to expand the club fanbase even to attract fans like myself? Do we understand the common vision we are all pursuing?

Our vision this season is lift both FKL and KPL trophies. Period. As I write, these goal is still within our reach. All the organs of our club have a big role to play in order to realize this goal.

Make no mistake brothers and sisters. I am not suggesting you should not criticize but do it with a measure of responsibility.

Some of us are tired of sideshows. The remaining fixtures are very crucial to us and therefore we do not need unecessary disruptions. Zico must go calls is at the moment not warranted. Zico is only and individual but k’ogalo is an institution we should all help to build in order to stand the test of time.

This is my purpose at K’ogalo.

What professionalism are some fans talking about? Is it destroying other players career or hiring thugs to maim other fans with different opinions? Is it smoking bhangi or victimising players who do no subscribe to the coach techniques? Ulinzi has just leapfrogged Gor Mahia from position two today and our style of playing does not guarantee us any victory. We are playing one of the most boring game in KPL whilst other fans are happy with this unknown systems to fans. I will repeat it again that zico is taking Gor Mahia nowhere at all with the kind unattractive football. From Gor to Harambee stars, there is no pattern to attract football fans to stadiums. I have stopped watching Harambee Stars because of the boring games day in day out.

Brother mwakio dont be emotional on this subject, last year we finished second under coach zico, majority of fans came back stadium during his tenure and as things stand we are still in contention for kpl.,perfomance is ,measured after a given period or season,if u are employed perfomance appraisals are done quarterly, half yearly or annually,if you are in business then you review the perfomance of your biz annually this are basics which is why we are saying lets do our part and give him the support then appraise him at the end of the year.if this will make you die soon then take a break and see you in boardroom when we will be appraising ZD in november after we win or loose the league yawa!

  • Well said guys. I hope from now till Novemeber 26th the only issues we will debate on are how to make GM win the league and FKL cup. All are within reach anyway. By the way once you win the league, cup or any other match nobody cares about the rest but the results. When Ulinzi consistently wins 1-0 nobody notices/complains but they do so when it’s GM. So let’s all meet tomorrow at City and support the team. That’s what is required now. I wonder how many of us know how tough the league is this year. Even Tusker and Ulinzi are not guaranteed of winning it. That means we still have an equal chance with any of the top five teams.

GOR MAHIA IS A LIVE AND KICKING

My brothers and sister in the family of KO-GALO i am very much impressed every moment i enter this site to read your comments.

There is one thing for sure which we will all agree upon and that is the fact that GOR MAHIA has an active fan base.

If we can just agree to put “POSITIVE ENERGY” that is full of “OPTIMISTIC- DRIVE” then i can confidently predict that our beloved club is only comparable to the SUPER CLUBS in the world.

I have come to conclude that as member of GM fan base we are very much a head of the both the “OFFICIALS , BENCH and the PLAYING UNIT” and as most of us have suggested on this blog we do not have any other choice apart from helping them systematically to achieve our expectation.

GM is reviving from where it was during its “GOLDEN DAYS” and as such everything has to be revamped in a systematic manner.

WE STARTED BY MOVING FROM RELEGATION ZONE which was like a norm. Then slowly we inched upwards and finished at TOP 5 position. Thereafter we finished as RUNNER-UP competitively as the league was decided during final matches or “IT WENT DOWN TO THE WIRE”.

Now its time to rally with our team as foot soldier from infantry squad that will remain in the front-line despite the eventuality always saying “its never over until it is over”.

Let us leave our destiny on the hands of the current technical bench and the playing unit;then just play our role as the “GREEN ARMY” which is to the dis-advantage our opponents and the highest morale booster to both “THE TECHNICAL BENCH AND THE PLAYING UNIT”.

From where i sit and within my inner gut feeling i see this trophies being lifted by none other than “JERRY-JALAMO”

I beg to appeal disparately to all of you to “PLEASE REALIZE THAT THE MORE WE SPEND A LOT OF NEGATIVE ENERGY TOWARDS OUR SELVES THEN THE MORE WE ARE RETRIEVING OUR BELOVED CLUB BACK TO INTENSIVE CARE UNIT.

GOD BLESS GOR MAHIA AND ALL OF YOU.

Hope is a very weak strategy in investment and football. Its the system the Zico’s employs that is taking us nowhere. Some of us raised alarm bells after 5 games but we were told to hold our horses until mid way through the season. Come mid way nothing about our system of play has changed. You cannot win the league by HOPING that your rivals will drop points or slip, you cannot qualify for ACN by HOPING that other countries will slip up.I liken Zico to one ‘Solo’ Oteino (Chum Reru) both are GM’s legends as players but as coaches both are flops they simply lack the technical/tactical acumen and woe on to us if we hopefully qualify for continental football. Removing Chum Reru as GM’s coach was also a long drawn out affair. When all is said and done memories of their contribution as players is what will remain and will always be treasured. Tomorrow I hope and pray that GM will win while”playing under direct influence” . Warom e pap

the less talked about this zico debate the better!ave noticed that once again we have a double header.thats a whole 4hours of football! good value for money ,regardless of whether you sit with ‘jodongo’ at the mains or whether u decide to literally ‘stand’with watu wa mapato ya chini’kama sisi huko moscow. But can someone educate me on how the gate collections are shared between the two ‘home teams’.what is the ratio used?

  • Does it mean that some of us cannot contribute to this site without mentioning the coach. Isn’t this the negative energy @Ogango is talking about? Since some believe that with the current coach we cannot win the league then why can’t they let the team continue with this performance that has gotten us to no. 2 till this time? Some of it is starting to sound like a gramaphone player with a stuck needle playing the same line. Why assume that some of us who are calling for restraint are satisfied with our performance? We need an order way of doing things. Mobocracy has no place in our current setup. If you don’t like the coach but love the club then use all the energy to support the club. Best wishes and positive energies on Saturday

based on the recent results and the actions after the Congo United match it is now safe to say that Zico’s position as Gor Mahia FC’s head coach is now untenable. He has lost the confidence of the fans and more importantly the players. How do you explain Moses Odhiambo’s (rasta) “refusal” to take the the free-kick on the left side?

When it gets to this the only logical thing is to part company with the coach. The assistant should take over

May I express my commiserations to all Kogalo fans. I do not have any comforting words for you because we ain’t seen nothing yet: expect worse results in the coming matches.
Now that Wuon Pap has unmasked our erstwhile compatriot Albert Kosero of Kampala Sofaset branch, I wish to tell him that I treat his contributions in this blog with utmost respect and I admire his optimism but as Gor Mahia tactician, he has consistently failed to get his act right.
However, I’ve no hard feelings against him because after all is said and done, the buck stops with GM administrators. One wonders why they let matters get to this. They should have shown this coach the door at the beginning of the season immediately after the loss to Rangers.

IT IS SAD THAT IT HAS TAKEN MOST FANS THIS LONG TO REALIZE THAT ZD CANNOT TAKE GM TO THE NEXT LEVEL.THOSE WHO WANT TO TRAVEL TO UG THEN WHAT U SAW TODAY IS WHAT WE HAVE SEEN ALL SEASON AND WHAT WE SAW WHEN WE PLAYED GUINEA.WHAT WAS DISPLAYED TODAY ALMOST MADE ME VOMIT AT THE MAIN STANDS.MASIKA HAD TO LEAVE THE DEFENCE TO EQUALIZE FOR US ? GOR IS GREATER THAN ANY ONE AND THIS MADNESS OF CLAIMING THAT ZD HAS BROUGHT FANS BACK IS AN INSULT TO THE FAITHFUL.
    WAY FORWARD
1)OUR SQUAD HAS YOUNG PROMISING PALYERS EG MASIKA,AKUMU,MUSA,LAVATSA WHO NEED NURTURING TO MOVE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.ONLY A FULLY QUALIFIED COACH LIKE KIMANZI OR RUUD KROLL CAN DO THIS.THE EARLIER WE START PREPARING THE TEAM FOR NEXT SEASON THE BETTER.
2)LETS THINK OF THAT GAMECHANGER-THE ACADEMY AND WE WILL SECURE OUR FUTURE.THIS IDEA OF RAISING FUNDS TO FLY PLAYERS TO MSA AND BUYING ZD A CAR IS ABSOLUTE LUNACY.CONGO CAME BY BUS AND THRASHED US .
3)AS MWAKIO HAS PUT IT WITHOUT A SECRETARIAT WE ARE DOOMED.THIS JAKOM MENTALITY SHOULD STOP.THE CLUB HAS SO MANY AVENUES FOR INCOME GENERATION AND ONLY A COMPETENT SECRETARIAT AS WE HAVE IN SDIMBA OR YANGA IN TZ WILL MOVE THE TEAM TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
4)HAD WE TAKEN SERIOUSLY THE ROOT OF THE RIOTS DURING THE RANGERS MATCH ,THEN WE WOULD NOT BE EMBARRASED AS TODAY.WE STRUGGLE TO WIN EVEN AT HOME WHILE SOFAPAKA CAN SCORE 5 AGAINST CONGO AND WESTERN STIMA.BLIND LOYALTY IS DANGEROUS AND THE CHAOS CAUSED BY ZD SECURITY ENTOURAGE WILL CHASE SOBER FANS AWAY AHD WE WILL SOON FIND OURSELVES PLAYING IN EMPTY STADIA.THIS MAN AND I DARE SAY THE OFFICE ARE NARCISSIST AND THINK THATS ITS THEM WHO ARE INDISPENSABLE.LET POERUSE THE CLUBS HISTORY AND THEY WILL REALIZE THAT WHAT THEY THINK THEY HAVE ACHIEVED CAN HARDLY BE MENTIONED WHEN COMPARED WITH ,KINA NYASEME ,OKUDO & OMINO.

    Thank you Wuon Pap.
Whatever happened today is very bad history made under the watch of one Zico who medics would simply describe as having a ‘bad coaching history (BCH)’.
If anyone can care to remember; back in the late seventies, eighties and early nineties Kogalo had a jinx with two teams from western Kenya in the name of Kakamega MoW (later renamed KK MoTCom) and Nzoia FC. That jinx however, applied only whenever Gor played these teams away in western. Never has Kogalo lost to a jinxed team at home (City stadium), never. Why had it to be today? Thank you Zico and the Office.
When a team scores only one goal and that only goal is
scored by, of all the players, a defender then we should take a fresh look at the depth of the bench. This also leaves those charged with the responsibility of scouting for talent and recruitment with lots of questions to answer.
I believe the panacea for this is a radical surgery to all the departments that are charged with the responsibility of bringing success and glory to the once Mighty Gor.

  • TO SLIDE IS NOT TO FALL DOWN

FIrst i wish to take great exception to our administration for the GM- Congo post match analysis as had been the norm. This is very regretable and cowardice on your part.

it is obvious the usual suspects would have a field day to tear apart coach Zico who had under pressure to deliver results. Yesterday’s loss to Congo united – a team fighting relegation is indeed regretable and lady luck was not on our side.

Congo united played a defensive game and utilized their chances very well. The free kick taken by Congo united that was converted into a goal was a setpiece. I must salute our boys, K’ogalo for going down fighting. The powerful rebound shot by Dan Makori and several shots by Lavatsa showed that the boys were hungry for goals. Well, it was not our day.

The mass exit by GM fans before the final whistle still showed GM are not prepared for a loss. This is a very dangerous preposition. Fans should be prepared psycologically for any eventuality. There is nothing hard to open than a closed mind, they say.

Those calling for mass boycott of the forthcoming fixtures are cowards whose loyalty at k’ogalo is questionable? Let us not heed such misguided fans instead let us stand with our boys untill the last game. Such football activism is not acceptable at this moment in time.

@69 pareyio ole lelerue you amaze me!

What you are actually implying is that Congo United were tactically superior to us!

Why should this be case when we have a coach who according to you is one of the best?

What stopped us from doing like Congo United i.e utilizing our chances well like they did?

We Gor Mahia fans believe in our club as champions. Gor Mahia’s achievements and successes throughout its existence speak volumes and this is the benchmark against which our expectations are founded.

We therefore have no business identifying with the club if we can start expecting or preparing for a loss when Kogalo faces a team that came from the grass and is headed back to the same grass.
