Gor Mahia through to Sportpesa Super Cup final
Gor Mahia are through to the finals of the 2018 Sportpesa Supercup after blanking Singida United of Tanzania 2-0. Unlike against arch-rivals AFC Leopards whom they beat on penalties, the Tanzanian side found the going tough against a brilliant Kogalo side.
Gor Mahia will now face off with Simba of Tanzania in the final. The latter beat Kakamega Homeboyz on penalties.

Meddie Kagere scored twice as Gor Mahia beat Singida United 2-0 in a Super Cup semi-final match that was staged at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Thursday 7th June.
The Rwandan scored his first in the 36th minute after heading home from a Francis Kahata cross. He then got his second in stoppage time firing home with a low shot that went past Singida keeper Peter Manyika.
Strong start
Gor Mahia started the game on a high trying to an early opener. George Odhiambo in the flank, in particular, proved lively in the opening minutes. The first chance went Singida’s way in the 6th minute when Danny Lyanga beat his marker on the left flank before delivering a teasing cross which Godfrey Walusimbi cleared before John Tibar could pounce.
At the other end, Singida keeper Peter Manyika pulled a huge save picking an Odhiambo cross with Meddie Kagere well placed to fire home. Another quick clearance from Gor Mahia defenders denied Lyanga who was through on goal. Singida showed improvement after early Gor Mahia dominance and proved dangerous particularly on the seak.
The heavy downpour in Nakuru seemed to affect the flow of the game as both teams opted to use high balls. Singida skipper Deus Kaseke hit the crossbar in the 33rd minute with a venous drive, Gor Mahia keeper Shaban Odhoji was at full stretch but he could not get hold of the ball.
Kagere goal
A minute later, Gor Mahia went ahead through veteran forward Meddie Kagere. A well-floated corner from Francis Kahata was met with a bullet header from the Rwandan striker, Peter Wanyika on Sindiga goal could do little to save his side. Three minutes later Gor captain Haron Shakava headed narrowly wide from another Kahata delivery as Gor looked to double their advantage. Gor took a one-goal advantage to the break.
Both teams had chances to score more after the break. Lubinda Mundia and Deus Kaseke came close for Singida while Tuyisenge, Odhiambo, and Kahata came close for Gor Mahia.
Kagere brace
Just as it looked like the game would end 1-0, Kagere got his second in stoppage time with a low drive that beat Singida keeper Manyika. Gor will play Simba in the final on Sunday 10th June.

Congrats ! the sort of performance we yearn for day in , day out but could easily have been 4 -0. Surely two clear cut penalties were disallowed !
Secondly, please keep the ‘passengers’ off the bench until they shape up or be shaped out…we have shami kibwana, ovella ochieng, eugene mukangula , eric marcelo and amos nondi waiting to wear the green jersey with pride.
My man of the match was Tuisyenge,he gave Singida defenders real hell and won two clear penalties that were never awarded. It is amazing that when playing foreign teams Gor players are always top notch and give their best. Next on the chopping board is Simba.Everton here we come!!!
Congratulations gor mahia. Good to avoid these post match penalties since they are lottery. The anti gor mahia football is the poor state of Kenyan pitches and it would better if the final is relocated to kasarani.

One more outstanding performance in the history of this great football club. A very clear message to Efusi that they are not our equal. Salute to the Tech Bench for the tactical substitutions that were spot on.
My prayer is that the team books a date wirh Everton. They actually deserve it after working so hard so far. We hope we get some adequate and quality enforcements to tackle the numerous engagements ahead of us. These mamy matches offer a chance for each and every player to get a chance to play. On ‘passengers’ (not a good reference though) i believe these are the the young faces who are the future of Kogalo
Remember that even Calabar was a ‘passenger’ for a long time before he broke into the main team.

My point is that K14 is on a long contract and releasing him must be subject to mutual consent otherwise it will have serious repercussions for K’Ogalo. Releasing this young man is not the solution. K14 is truly facing a serious problem. We won’t help him by condemning him. We can only help him by guiding him on the right coping strategies such as counseling and psychosocial support. The coping strategy that he has opted for is evidently very wrong and is making him lose in all fronts especially in his sports career. It is for such cases that we once proposed the need for Gor Mahia to acquire a sports psychologist.
To mean that for the next two and a half years he is going to be a nasty wound hard to heal in the team??
It’s not a secret that k14 is a good player and it’s also not a secret that his performances have gone down drastically.
Perhaps he is going through non-footballing issues that are affecting his performances on the pitch.
I think he needs someone who can give him good counsel..once he gets over whatever is bothering him am sure he will be back to his brilliant best on the pitch.
Nobody can use a product that has stayed beyond its expiry date. Kevin is likely to follow the footsteps of Baron,Agwanda and other much hyped signings that never lived to the expectations.He should request termination of contract and move to other teams of his calibre.
I think Ade should be loaned to a super league side so that he can get play time to improve his performance. But terminating His contract will bring unnecessary tassels with the club. He can be loaned for six months, then if he improve, then the coach will see.
He can be terminated due to poor performance. Actually I even think its stipulated in the club’s contract with players, especially when you don’t make the 1st 18 squad for six months, miss training. The problem is “someone” keeps naming him in the match day squad every now and then so as to defeat the poor performance clause.
As much as I sympathize with passenger K14 I really fail to understand how he is “overweight”, does he not train? Anyway he either shapes up or ships out together with other passengers.
On a brighter note well done K’Ogalo. Well done Kagere. Though I rate CECAFA quite highly I feel GMFC should give it a miss given its fixture glut and having preferred the lesser Spesa Cup. We must emphasize with the players and TB, every worker need time to rest / go on leave etc.
SPesa final should also be moved from the rather bumpy Afraha stadium.
This question of fielding a B / reserve team does not wash as a there is only one team, one head coach, one office, one focus, i.e K’Ogalo.

Nigeria football great and former Everton FC forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni has singled out Gor Mahia defensive midfielder Ernest Wendo as a potential material to play in the English Premier League.
Speaking at Nakuru Athletics Club on Friday after conducting a brief training session with National Super League side Nakuru All Stars, Aiyegbeni, who is also Everton’s football ambassador, described Wendo as a ‘great player.’
“I watched Wendo during SportPesa Super Cup semi-final match between Gor Mahia and Singida and I can tell you he is a potential material in England. He is big and strong and if he uses his physical strength and skill, it would be great to see him play in one of the big clubs in England,” said Aiyegbeni.
“I think he can get a better club in England or Europe if the way I saw him playing is anything to go by.”

Yanga sees the light and withdraws from CECAFA because of congested fixtures. We must withdraw fro Kalongolong tornaments and prepare to hit Yanga as hard as we can. Kerr CECAFA should not be our priority now.

Yakubus’ observation is spot on.I have always believed that Wendo is the best player we have at the middle of the pack. It’s only that the national team selectors don’t see him with keen interest. Even I believe that Boni is Kenya one and nobody should think that matasi is better than him.
