Gor Mahia tied by Tusker

The Kenyan Premier League tie between Tusker and Gor Mahia played on the final day of July 2013 ended in a 0-0 draw.

The tie described as a battle in midfield had few chances on either end with either defense at their best.

Targeted

After a first half of not too many chances, the game move over to the second phase where Tusker arguably had the best of chances to claim the game, but in all the occasions were denied by steady Gor keeper Jerim Onyango.

Five minutes after the restart Gor should have gone a goal up had Paul Kiongera not targeted his header out after Kevin Omondi had done well to keep the ball on the byline to send in a cross.

Two minutes after the half hour mark Robert Omunuku got behind Gor defenders and in the box but as he went for goal Gor cleared to hand Tusker their first corner in the game.

Picked out

Omunuk sneaked back in the box again four minutes later but this time Jerim picked out his attempt for the far post. Three minutes on, the league top scorer Jesse Were broke though when a lob could have been good to deliver a goal, intelligent Jerim picked out his effort to save Gor from conceding once again.

Were was back in the box, again, just four minutes later and again, Jerim stopped his effort, this time a shot on goal.

11 point gap

The game then rolled on the the final minutes, with action ending with a corner for Gor.

With the result,  Gor moves to 36 points from 18 games to maintain their 11 point gap over Tusker while opening an eight point gap over second placed Thika United.

Tusker remains 11 points behind Gor Mahia at eighth though improved from 24 to 25 points.

Pablo and Erick Ochieng did not miss the game because of sickness and injury as reported. This is a clear GO SLOW by players. Watch for more “ijuries and sickness” in games to come. We as players are not happy.

It was a tough match that we also wasted our chances , especially K14. Now we MUST win on Sunday and hope that the others end up in a draw, especially the Nakuru match

@ Dan original, FORGET ABOUT wishing others a bad spell in their fixtures. We have opened an 8 point gap with the nearest contender after playing same number of matches.

As long as we concentrate on getting the best result in MATCH then the existing 8 point gap will shield the our beloved team as the fixture schedules reduces gradually.

We should not rely on the predicament of our competitors to WIN the trophy but rather do our best to exert more pressure and denounce their wishful believe that we shall succumb to undue pressure and let them settle on the driving seat. It is ours to win.

ONE MATCH AT A TIME AND THEN WE SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

This fictious palyer is up to no good. he posts negative messages after every match involving kogalo. he could be a disgruntled element who could also be fueling the unwarranted chaos at Muthurwa. He could also be one of the contenders for the December 2013 club elections who is trying to market himself via a very uncouth way. if he is genuine let him come out openly.

Now to more important issues.Yesterdays game was very tough and thanks to Jerry we escaped with a draw. This can only mean that we should prepare for hard matches ahead.

To the GINI WASEKAO merchants…Ochigah,Michael,Jakoyo,Vitoo….tread cautiously….the fat lady has not sang!!!

Seven things I want to say
    1. Good: For drawing with Tusker, that one point was good. Put it another way and you will see that another strong contender lost two points and was kept in its position.
    2. Good: Players should have ambition to look out for opportunities to better their lives anywhere anytime, after all active playing years are pretty short
    3. Bad: the news about Dan Sserunkuma and Rama leaving at the same time and the timing of their leaving – when we need them most. What is happening?
    4. Bad: Who will clearly explain this saga and what the rules of transfer say?
    5. Bad: Other players might leave in the same manner
    6. Bad: Our winning was not going to please everybody, far and wide, that you should know.Could there be sabotage by some unknown hands, nobody has thought about this but it is better to start thinking widely around this.
    7. GOOD: NOW I SUPPORT ODUOR 12 ON THE ISSUE OF ELECTING VETERANS TO GM OFFICE, PERHAPS THINGS WILL THEN CHANGE

@jathur gi ji has just copy pasted my brain (no 1 to 5).
In this league, there are games we will win, some we will draw and even some, though God forbid, we will loose.
Yesterday’s match was one of those matches you just draw despite doing everyone right. The boys really tried, and they really wanted to win, you could see the hunger in them.
The boys will work hard in training and come good againts city stars on sunday.A point dropped againts fellow contenders is not too bad, and thats why we must beat ALL the small teams.
Otherwise , other than the departure of the two high profile names, when the league is entering the business end, I think everything else is ok.

  • Tough match.. Kudos to the fighting spirit of our players..

I have one concern though, i have observed our last 4 games and i notice our passing game is slowly disappearing.. I know the coach likes to use the wings but that is not excuse enough bcoz the ball could still get to the wingers through passing… So long as we keep hitting long balls, chances will continue to be few and not everyday we’ll get points becoz of Jerry and the defence

@Kibalka, I support you in full. Our passing game has disappeared completely, and this, in my opinion, is because our midfield is pathetic. During the last four games, our opponents have bossed the midfield and enjoyed greater possession.
This results in our strikers being starved of the ball and disappearing completely. It also puts our defenders under a lot of pressure. We need to fix this problem before the derby, otherwise I see us losing this time round. Our goalie is superb, but he can only do so much, we should not expect him to come to our rescue all the time.
I also think Moses Dube Odhiambo should be getting more playing time, his experience was missed yesterday. His work rate is good and he is a good distributor of the ball.
Lastly, I am concerned by Lavatsa’s recent dip in form, but let’s hope it is temporary and that he will regain his scoring boots soon.

Well, me i watched a very good game yesterday. I think the midfield stuff is being exaggerated, the team is playing a mature technical approach to the matches.

The team is very good and believe this time round we shall be truly ready to face the continent.

I am especially impressed with the visible seriousness exhibited by K14 (Kevin Omondi) and Akumu A6. Watch these guys in the remaining part of the season. They had lost it completely but in yesterday’s game i saw them regaining their true colours.

Honestly i’ve been wondering lately where Anguyo would be fitting in the team but i now believe he’s even more suited at the infront of defenders no wonder Tursker got almost all their chances after he was substituted. The entire team is very very good and let all our opponents be warry of meeting us.

What really is the problem with GINI WASEKAO? is it not just one of those chants in a competition?

I f i were to speak on Rama.. PLEASE DON’T GO TO MIDDLE EAST YOU WILL WASTE YOURSELF YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN THAT BY VERY VERY FAR!

1.Lets make this the bloggers initiative
    2. lets remember the other key components a much leaner office and the COMPETITIVE employment of at least a full time CEO & A FINANCE/ADMIN MANAGER
    3. I suggested QUALIFIED LEGENDS coz they will be acceptable to all GM members. We have bloggers who i think would make a credile office but how would we popularize them coz hata kustart branch ilitushinda.

@9 Arrumtiddi there is no small team in a leage. Yesterday the absence of Rama was felt in the striking force. I suggest that these two players should be allowed to do their trials/tests abroad but should not be released until the end of the season. If those clubs want sign them let them wait until Dec. The player’s success is what every body wants and we cannot deny them their opportunity in any way. Mutiso worked so well, The coach only need to polish him a little.

5.Bassanga does not feature regularly in the list coz though he won the league with Sony in 2006,is an experienced coach & sports administrator his fixation with Zico is worrying. But hes still 100 times beta than Faiz,Bwana etc.
We really need 2 have DIRECTORS who put in structures that enables GM retain players( for @ least 2 full seasons) COZ WHAT IF AFTER WINNING THE LEAGUE 80% OF THE PLAYERS LEAVE NOT ONLY 4 QATARI/EASTERN EUROPE DIV. 2/3 BUT ALSO THE LIKES OF AZAM/SIMBA WILL COME

SO UNLESS FANS DON’T WANT GM 2 BECOME A REGIONAL/CONTINENTAL FORCE LET’S CONTINUE TO TOLERATE AN OFFICE THAT ALLOWS UNPLANNED DEPARTURES FRM THE CLUB. APART FRM LOSING PLAYERS NO SERIOUS COACH WILL TOLERATE IT, THEN IT WILL TAKE US ANOTHER 17+ YEARS 2 WIN THE LEAGUE & WILL REMAIN A PAPER TIGER WITH A HISTORY OF NEAR MISSES IN THE LEAGUE & NO IMPACT IN THE REGION.
SINCE WE’VE TRIED UNKNOWNS WITHOUT SUCCESS LET GIVE QUALIFIED LEGENDS A CHANCE.

  • I wish Loga was around. He would have taken the EC head on on the issue of Dan and Rama.Sometime we need a no nonsense coach to push this bogus EC to the right direction.Even BW might reach a stage and decide to disappear because of the way things are done at GM.Surprisingly fans will point out the weakness of our EC officials but it comes to election, they return them because of kit Kidogo. When it comes to election in December let`s avoid voting for camps and vote for each individual.

@George ochoro 19, of course there are no small teams in this league.
What I meant was that dropping points againts fellow contenders (tusker, ulinzi, ingwe), is detrimental but atleast to some extent acceptable, rather than dropping points againts midtable outfits and relegation strugglers.
If you draw againts tusker/ingwe/thika, you loose two points, but atleast they also drop the two points. So my point was, if i must draw I’d rather draw againts ingwe/tusker/sofapaka, than draw againts homeboyz/yudhe/karuturi/chemo/kcb etc.
@oduor 12, you’ve really put a good case for your so -called ‘veterans’, I think am beginning to like your idea.

  • On average the kenyan league is won by 60 points which means we have to win at least 8 games out of 12 to be sure. It’s a tall order but is very possible. We have to emulate last year’s finishing by beating everyone in sight
