Club Secretary General George Bwana has revealed to Goal they are determined to make it to the money brackets of next year’s Caf competition

Gor Mahia have announced big plans to sign up experienced players for their Caf Champions League campaign next season.

Club Secretary General George Bwana has revealed to Goal they are determined to make it to the money brackets of next year’s competition.

“For the last two years we have just been participants at continental level. This time around we are determined to not just be mere participants but to go further than we have.

“In this regard we are targetting experienced players who can help us achieve this. The club has already began talks with some of the targetted players and very soon we will unveil them.”

He revealed K’Ogalo has opened talks with a Zambian international midfielder among other experienced players, who will soon be part of their squad.

“We are talking to a player from Zambia and another from Uganda. Our target is to sign two strikers, midfielders and a central defender and are looking far and wide for our targets.”

I believe we will get the best players to strengthen various departments.

On a separate note, just out of concern, even though the technical bench knows better I feel our game against AFC Leopards, Wanyonyi can be brought in as a substitute to give a chance to experienced players. That game really matters for me. I would propose the following line-up (Jerry, Musa Mohamed, David Owino, Musoti, Emuge, Eric Ochieng, Anthony Akumu,Patric Oboya, Edwin Lavatsa, Kiongera, Ssurunkuma) Subs (Mutiso, Wanyonyi, Mapunda, Moses Odhiambo, etc). I rest my case.

Oh no, I’m forgetting Kevo. Kevo can come in as a super sub in the 40th minute as far as my proposed lineup is concerned…

  • Alando you are tryin to do the coach’s job kindly get out of there…. we pay him millions to come up with a line up let him do his job but you can contribute in other ways.keep your feelings well tucked and be ready to accept the results on the 16th though i believe in Bobby and i can assure you Kogalo will prevail and even if they don’t there is always another time na NO TO HOOLIGANS!if you cant accept the results please stay home don’t come to the stadium to spoil the party.

This man Bwana has no business talking on transfer matters. That is the sole prerogative of Mr. Williamson. He knows who he wants and when he wants them. Bwana’s role is to sign cheques period!!! It is these kind of loose talks that made Loga very annoyed at the beginning of the season

Even as you try to revamp the team Mr Secretary General, or is it not the TB, my heart goes to the current team; they have done a good job and done us proud, lets not drop any player UNLESS ONE WANTS TO LEAVE ON HIS OWN just to show them our love for them, even if we could have a number like 35 which is still manageable. Having seen the season thru you may just need 1) One strong outright striker 2) one offensive midfielder 3)one strong central defender and 4)natural left back but you could add a fifth in a defensive midfielder (max 5).In any case we have a lot in our hands in the coming season and you need strong reserve power.

  • Jathur gi ji kindly take note that club football is about results let the coach do his job and if any player has to be dropped let him be paid all his dues as required by FIFA please remember that football is big business you win the CAF Champions League you are paid kshs.127,500,000.00 or 0.1275 billion i.e. 1.5 million dollars…. to win such you need to get serious and not emotional.

As we wish the team well in the weekend derby and also looking forward to next year we must acknowledge the job done by all the stakeholders apart from the HOOLIGANS who even denied the players a chance to parade the trophy during the presentation ceremony. Call them the enemy within. On recruitment I believe GB as the SG(spokesman) is right to articulate what the club intends to do. The coach can only talk about the tactics and the type of resources he needs. Mind you BW is the coach and not the Manager. GB continue feeding us on the future prospects. About naming the lineup every GM fan should have his prefered lineup but the TB will always have the final say. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I also have mine and am not sure whether we have Ja towel or Jerry between the sticks on sunday but will accept whoever BW gives us. The releasing of players is gonna be a painful process as all the players have been good ambassadors of the team as there have been no disciplinary issues from any quarter. But managing a lean team has its advantages but also having a good depth and numbers for a team going to be involved in CECAFA, TPL, CAF, Top 8, Go(r)TV amongst other games.

@ P Mawego. Williamson has no money to sign players. It is the club that releases money thro’ its officials. One thing is clear, our current squad needs to be strengthened for next year’s competitions. TB and EC must be together when it comes to signing. Bwana has shown a good gesture in their willingness to co operate with the TB in identifying players to sign.

Paw Akuche the final decision is not mine, it is purely the EC’s and the TB’s, mine was a suggestion and for people like you to comment.I appreciate that you have made your point on this and I believe others will too.But I believe you do not come down on a team like that and send people packing just because you want to create space for others no matter what it is you want to win, that will be winning things without a heart.

Its inevitable that some players will be dropped. That being the case, the replacements/new recruits must be players capable of making an impact to justify inclusion. All the best to the team for the finals and future assignments!!

Hi guys, I’ll start on a light note by congratulating the whole team for having worked hard for the title.I came across some players when the season was underway and what they said really showed they were going to bag the ultimate prize.on releasing some players I think this happens all over the world coz the same players could benefit by getting game time elsewhere and this could develop them.

drop players if situation demands. business is not about how emotional u r. nowonder such clubs will never move. i support that hard decisions will have to be made and if a player did not measure up then it’s time to go. irrespective of what former players think ‘they did for the club’. this is why i keep asking players to get down to business and stop the show-off mode. a players life is very short. u hit 30 and you are automatically a mzee.so unless wewe ni Drogba who can still hold with the best then too bad. i don’t think gor is an NSSF affiliate, i like the fact that Bwana knows where the problem is, even though i thnk gor defence is already catared for. i thnk the EC has done well to return gor back to africa scene. congrats. and for T.Wanyonyi, this guy is young and focused… score three or four deadly goals(africa) and see what happens to you.

Players will always be dropped and others brought in but i fear changes in the playing unit focused mainly on the caf tournament. Because new players normaly take time to familiarize with things and before we know it we are out of caf. I would prefer and encourage scouting for quality at the under 19 outfit to build a team for consistency in africa and some stability. With this we will begin with doing well at cecafa as we clear the bushes into caf champs league. I abhore the massive hire and fire trial and error quick fix euphoria.

If we didn’t want to ‘interfere’ with someone’s job as one would put it then no one is qualified to comment on this block. If I give my opinion of the squad, some people feel offended. So when we comment on new signings are we the technical bench? At time we talk about money issues – why hasn’t someone come up to say ‘let the treasurer do his work?’

Guys let us be open and accomodative to other people’s views. After all the final decisions are not made on this blog and no one is not a more Gor Mahia supporter than the other. If we bury our heads in the sand then at the end of the day same same fans will be commenting ‘I wish so and so played…’

Let the club not forget that there are plenty of good talent around…there are hordes of good players at Muhoroni Youth, Bandari and KCB that fit the bill. That dreadlocked Kennedy Odhiambo and Nigerian Tieteh, Shaban Kenga and Brian Osumba are just a few.

  • I believe we have enough local talent to help us win CECAFA club competition and give a challenge to CAF teams. Keep in mind that importing players from other countries is expensive. KPL quality of players is competitive. There is over flow of talent locally, but, the grass always appears greener on the other side.

  • The current Team has been associated with the hard work put in by Siang’a. Meaning that it is maturing as the days go by.In the meantime there has been the inclusion of some internationals and consequentially winning trophies.I therefore would just like to add that apart from Uganda and Zambia,we could also look at Ethiopia they have some good midfielders and goal poachers. This is just a thought.

Getting good players is one thing n fielding them is another. Today against AFC we were horrible, since wen did Akumu play in the position he played today. He made Sserunkuma look useless. I don’t think Booby Williamson will take us anywea past the first round, we are playing a horrible pattern, long balls to our short striker. In the days of logarusic our ball used to flow. I miss Zdravko Logarusic, awacho ayueyo
