Gor Mahia to go on with KPL matches after all

Contrary to the earlier assumption that a team can apply for postponement of its premier league matches if it has more than one player in the National team, Gor Mahia will be forced to miss services of Anthony Akumu, Musa Mohamed, Duncan Owiti and Abdimalik Mohamed who will be doing duty for the country in Eritrea during the CECAFA junior championship kicking off on Saturday 14th in Asmara.
According to the fixtures released today by KPL Secretariat, Mathare/Gor match which could have been played tomorrow, had Kenya not gone for an International friendly match in Tanzania, will now be played on Saturday 14th August at Nyayo National Stadium as from 3pm.
Asked about the FIFA/KPL rule allowing clubs with more than one player in National team to apply, if they so wishes,  for postponement of any match involving them, KPL CEO Jack Oguda responded that the rule does not apply to junior team. He further clarified that it was a mistake on their side to have accepted the application from Gor Mahia to postpone their matches against Western Stima and Ulinzi Stars due to involvement of junior team in African championship qualifier matches against Sudan in Khartoum and Nairobi respectively.

This is suspicious. As you know , Oguda us a Mathare official. I think he wants Kogalo to play Mathare while weakened

  • This is useless. What about if Gor Mahia could have not released the four players to the junior national team? it is unfair to Gor.

If this is the position then I would urge Gor Officials to immediately withdraw the players in the U20 from the CECAFA squad. The priority for Kogalo right now is to seriously bid for the KPL championship top position, nothing less. Then the concerned players can have a better stage, Continental Club champoinship next year to expose themselves. It is utterly unfair for a team to have four first team players on national duty and still be forced to play their league matches. I do not like the word NO, but on this one allow me to say NO, NO ,NO!!!! Do I smell a rat?

  • Gor should withdraw all the four players fron the U20 team because this will be unfair to the team performance. Right now we have lost Peter Opiyo and Baldwin Ngwa and we can not afford to play our game against Mathare without our dependable key players. Ngala is telling us rubbish here and what the office must do immediately is to withdraw all our four players from under 20. Ngala should act immediately by calling back all our players in Eritrea. Furthermore what is this tournament in Eritrea?

  • This man Jack Oguda is back again to harass Gor. He thinks his team Mathare utd will win the league so he wants to get maximum points from Gor. But he should know that that will not be the case, even without the four players, The Mighty Kogallo will rise to the occassion and send Mathare back to the slums. Lets all turn out and cheer our boys to victory, we can make it!!!

The first game that Kenya has in the tornament is on 19th, why not have the players available for Sartuday’s match and they can proceed to join the National later in time for the first match…. Ofis should pursue this option!

Is Gor getting punished for having junior players in the premier league? If it was a mistake for him to postpone the Ulinzi and Western Stima matches then he should face the law for sleeping on his job the same way he made Gor to face their the so called IDAC.We should not have such kind of incompetent and inefficient officials running for us the league, let him go to FKL where there is disorder.Kogallo will truimph whether he likes it or not.Why is it that this Oguda always bring unnecessary tension in our run up to the Mathare matches every season?

Let us all believe in the whole squad despite the circumstance. Those who will not be in the squad will be performing the country’s duty which is more important than any individual, besides their appearance in the national team is one of our club’s(K’Ogalo)achievements that we must be appreciate and be proud of.

Oguda MUST GO NOW IF NOT RIGHT NOW!!! Tuta play under protest.

    Reply
  • @D.Okoth This players are selected by the national team or foreign clubs from a club they sign for, its the club that pays for their salary and if they dont perform the club will be down on the bottom of the league table and no one will see them at all therefore club first before the country. playing for the country is equaly important as the club too, it will be realistic to either postpone one of which league is possible.

Todays Nation is just funny – Mathare have stopped two of their U20 players from going to Sudan, and they claim they will be fielded tommorrow. This has left me wondering what’s happening with Kenyan football,do we have double standards? However i have promissed myself to be a very noisy 12th man tommorrow.I know we have the strength in depth to cope and i believe we can cope.Let’s all come in uniform and roar our boys to victory.WE CAN WE WILL.

Bravo Kogalo! i love Gor Mahia coz it’s the only team in East and Central Africa with a known caharacter to compete among top African clubs. Plse club officials, recruit 500,000 Gor Mahia members ready to contribute only Kshs. 300 per year to support the club throughout East Africa. This will translate to kshs. 150,000,000 million per year. Plse explore how you can cooperate with equity bank on the club’s M-Kesho account for direct crediting by members. God bless Kogalo, God bless Kenya
