Gor Mahia to go to polls in December

Gor Mahia chair Ambrose Rachier has announced that the club will hold its long awaited elections in December. According to a report posted on futaa.com, Rachier while addressing the media, stated that the club has revamped its constitution to be in line with the sport act.

“We have a new drafted constitution that will be passed by members before we go to elections. We have to comply with the Sports act first before we conduct our elections. We will hold a special general meeting on Sunday 9 October where all branch chairmen will attend and we will brief them on matters new constitution. They will discuss before the constitution I adopted.

Rachier who has been under siege , sought to assuage the concerns of those who think the elections are being rigged by stating that they will be run by an independent body.

-Elections will be free and fair in accordance with the Sports act, we will engage an independent body to ensure that elections are free and fair, he added.

Four Years

According to the Sports Act, an elected official will serve for two terms of four years each. For Gor Mahia, this likely means officials will be entrenched in office for four years. And that is why these are the most crucial elections the club has ever had. A mistake could cost the club four years of mediocrity.

So the Tyrant is changing the constitution to enable him stay in power. …good luck

    • @omondii, it is the club members who wanted the constitution changed. The Sports Act demands the same. So the tyrant is only doing what everyone else wanted. I hope he wont use it to retain office. He can only go back if majority bonafide voters want him back!!!

There is no “tyrant” you men, this is your chairman. He has served the club for more than 8 years and when it was very hard between 2007 to 2009 when nobody wanted to touch Gor Mahia with a ten-meter pole. That time the team was going down for sure. If its time to go he will go, lets make it a honorable exit without insults. It does not help anyone. We still have five matches to play and probably the League title to win. Let’s not burn the house at this time.

While a lot of well-meaning fans want change in leadership you will find that they are not even members and therefore cannot bring about these changes we crave for. The other thing is that do we have credible candidates for this change? If one has had no proven leadership position in such an area then we are in trouble. The problem is that the people with this type of leadership capabilities will not touch Gor with an 10 foot pole. Who wants to be abused some ,painful’ obscenities by a person who cannot even run a chicken pen

You have Chris Omondi who did not accomplish much when he was sec gen. I only remember his petulant outbursts on twitter. Then he eventually quit his position. And now he wants to be chairman.

There we go again being draw into personality fights. From where i stand we’ve seen how much & what someone can achieve in 8 years. Will giving them another 4 and maybe another 4 make any difference especially regionally and continentally. We also cannot condemn someone who had “great ideas” but was frustrated to the point of opting to resign and now wants to top position to implement those ideas. Hence my clarion call WHAT DO GOR MEMBERS & FRATERNITY WANT, ISN’T IT TROPHIES NATIONALLY, REGIONALLY AND CONTINENTALLY. THESE TOURNAMENTS ARE PLAYED YEARLY. LETS EVALUATE OFFICIALS ON THE YEARLY ACHIEVEMENTS. PUT WRITTEN PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS IN THE CONSTITUTION: GMFC MUST 1) QUALIFY FOR A CONTINENTAL TOURNAMENT 2) MUST REACH AT LEAST THE SEMIS OF ALL CECAFA TOURNAMENTS WE PARTICIPATE IN 3) MUST REACH THE GROUP STAGES/3RD ROUND OF ALL CAF TOURNAMENTS WE PARTIPATE IN. *** WHY STICK WITH OFFICIALS WHO CANNOT,YEAR IN YEAR OUT, STEER GMFC BEYOND THE PRELIMINARIES OF CAF I.E In the future.

Am for change,AR has done relatively well.what proven recotd did he have when he took office.?Am sure whatever amount he used on GM while nobody wanted to come near the team,he has handsomely recovered & profited by lack of audited accounts and more so players leaving the club for free while GM used money to bring them in.I strongly believe as a lawyer AR has knows all the loopholes in our constitution & he’s used them well especially in the area of players leaving for free.Somebody somewhere with the players agent do benefit with this free notion bt not the club.

Meanwhile at this crucial stage of our title defence, where winning the league is our only chance left to participate in next year’s CAF, we’ve had no serious friendlies, brewkenge continue to play their matches way before us. In fact we face Muhoroni in the Top 8 on the 16th,then W.Stima on the 19th in a crucial league match. Will the new constitution WIN US THE LEAGUE. Everything is last minute with this office e.g sending player list to CAF, complying with the sports act, CAF licensing which lead me to ask maybe AR led EC would have achieved more if they were not so busy and disorganized. Will that change in the next 4 years really?

Fans and bloggers, we need to be honest with ourselves at this point as the election draws near. Let us appreciate the current chair for the great work he has done but not abuse him. Let us open our eyes and see who means well for the club.

From the kind and caliber of candidates whose names are being mentioned for the position of the chair, I do not see any of them defeating Ambrose Rachier for the chairmanship. These names being mentioned are better of going for lesser positions and more so in displacing the likes of Ngala, kilo, Orowe, Ferrari etc. The mentioned names will resign and run away from the mandate of managing the club. Let us not experiment with people that some of them were elected but resigned and ran away like cowards. As outgoing and incoming officials, you must have a thick skin to stay put as we bloggers and fans will continue to post some unpalatable comments and abuses according to our levels of exposures particularly during the lean times when the club is not winning games.

Bloggers need to appreciate the work Ambrose Rachier has done and if elections are to be held today, I will still vote for him alone but I will vote out all the names highlighted and mentioned above.

Gor Mahia office is not a walk in the park as it requires commitments, dedications, hard work, thick skin, deep pocket, network, communication skills, etc for any success to be achieved.

In the last election, we elected Hooligan as the Secretary General but the coward resigned and ran away from the position is SG. These are not the kinds of officials the club needs at the top level. He was tested but ran away. I suggest a caliber like Hooligan should only consider a position to handle youth development and only if such position exists and if he can promise to stay in the club without resigning and running away like a coward. Such kind of people vying for any position should be thoroughly vetted and I think they can’t be trusted as they will resign and run away from the club at the point of need when the club and fans needed them most.

A club of Gor Mahia stature needs committed officials with deep pockets and good in organisation skills that can bring well wishers on board and use their deep pockets to bailout the club when there is financial crisis and I think Gor Mahia with recent successful history needs someone with caliber of Ambrose Rachier or better to be voted in and must be given measurable deliverable targets to be achieved within short-medium-long term periods.

@jathur gi ji, @Musymo and @Jamigori, I like the way you view things. Rationally. The caliber of candidates should determine whether AR goes home or not. As of now they are not appealing at all. The truth is that Gor needs someone with VAST leadership skills either in Govt, NGO or the private sector. Being close to the Kibera or Mathare fans (no pun intended here) should never be a qualification to get the top leadership of the club. As it is the rest of the candidates could be better off replacing the Ngalas, Kilos et al. I could be wrong but those are my views

      • @Dan, these aspirants keep telling us of taking us to the next level. I am still wondering where exactly that is? Chris was elected SG and resigned citing frustration. Why did he need to resign? He had a mandate from the people so Rachier was never going to be able to eject him from office. If he was ever man enough he would have stuck in there and showed us all the brilliant ideas he wanted to implement but was thwarted by the Chair as he claimed. Come this election he would have been a shoo-in. Rachier may not be the best but out of the available options, he dwarfs them a million fold. Piece of advice to these aspirants and their hirelings, Rachier is a consummate politician and it will take more than whining on social media to unseat him.

This argument that the kilos, ngalas are so bad & should be voted out, only AR is gud doesn’t wash.when did the chair reprimand or contradict these pple. The fact guys work for AR here if think you will work for the club you wont survive case in point FN,I wuld love to believe Chris also had different opinion frm AR.If the chair was given an opportunity right frm the corridors of the courts no where near kitchen management, why are dismissing others.what matters is ones vision and ideas and we can only know if he can implement them if given a chance.AR has had his chance, infact if money was what handicapped him,we could have seen his vision this year bt what happened sabotage a coach who had potential to do well in continental, ka una wuoda signings mid season,6month paid trial for a player(only in GM),then u argue that we are in capable hands
I.salute AR for bringing us this far bt it wuld be better if we had somene else carry on frm where he has taken the club.I wuld rather hear frm an outside abt making GM a powerhse that frm a Guy who had 8yrs to do that.

@levelmind, we always agree with you on most issues. On this one we are on polar opposites but am very liberal were a better alternative avail themselves. Who is this Messiah you have in mind to come save Kogallo. Why do you think he will do better than Rachier and how sure are you he will implement the policies he promises(Kindly educate me on some of his policies while you are it). I pray you find my questions worthy of your attention!!!

Fish rots from the top. Someone continuously promised to build GMFC a stadium during the last 3 elections. Where is it? Was it an election gimick? Now he says GMFC can make an big impact in continental soccer? Is that another gimick? In FIFA Sepp was felled, in FKF Nyamweya(&Rachier) were swept aside by the little saprano man. Was Chris supposed to join into the culture of maladministration and opaqueness? He found it so revolting, that when he couldn’t change it he resigned. Its time for GMFC fraternity to choose WISELY NOT FEARFULLY. Muysmo don’t be intimidated about so and so’s calibre. Ask yourself calibre for WHAT? Blatter and Nyamweya had CALIBRE. Bloggers forget personalities get ENSHRINE PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS IN THE CONSTITUTION.

The names going around the media do not pose any serious threat to Rachier. We need to think seriously about Gor Mahia future than focusing on matters that will never take the club anywhere. We need to see serious names but not minnows we have been hearing. Some of the names proposed will resign and run away.

Meanwhile brewkenge kept fit with a friendly against s/paka while those currently with the mandate of ensuring we retain the league to enable us participate in CAF CL are concentrating on the “CAF compartible constitution”. Is main aim of passing the constitution “GMFCs sure ticket” to 2017 CAF CL or the ground preparation for AR to lead for another 4 maybe 8 years.

If one resigns because some 12 EC members are stressing him then what happens when the whole Gor fraternity will demand their unreasonable demands. As it is only a good constitution will help us. And that law should devolve power between the EC, TB, the branches and the fans. We won’t the worry about personalities

Thanks AR for what you have done. The truth is that he has never listened to many people especially in signing good quality prayers and co-ordination the TB no plans to gas stadium. Collected funds from the projects are best known to unknown. Thank you for all u have done well and let someone correct where you did not get right
