Gor Mahia to take on SoNy Sugar on Friday

Against the backdrop of sensational form that has seen Kogalo dismiss Ulinzi and Posta Rangers by scores of 2-0 and 5-0 respectively, Gor Mahia are due to play SoNy Sugar on Friday.

But their 12 point lead atop the standings could be in jeopardy.

Yesterday, Kogalo players went on strike in Kisumu threatening snub tomorrow’s league match against Sony Sugar at Moi Stadium. The players are demanding all the outstanding allowances.

Gor Mahia Organising Secretary Judith Nyangi said the players have informed her they were checking out of the hotel in protest to owed allowances.

“They got in touch with me from Kisumu and have told me categorically that they will not stay in the hotel or honour Friday’s match against Sony Sugar. We have tried to convince them but in vain,” she said.

Club chairman Ambrose Rachier, who is in Russia, tried convince the players to return to camp and honour Friday’s fixture.

Gor Mahia’s pursuit of Ugandan player Erisa Ssekisambu has ended.

“The deal is off. We have been in talks for the past couple of days but failed to agree over a number of issues,” Ssekisambu’s agent Ronnie Santos told Kawowo Sports.

Ssekisambu has won the Uganda Cup’s MVP twice and was also in the run for the UPL Best Player in the 2014/15 campaign. He has also been a regular for the Uganda Cranes.

Gor Mahia would definitely be a scary place to go to if I saw those already there doing the extreme to get paid!

I don’t really blame Sekisambu and his agent for wanting more assurances before putting pen to paper!

There’s no smoking without fire. So I think we need to cut Medi Kagere and some of our want-a-way stars slack for thinking about where their bread is buttered well first!

If it were your job but you first have to threaten industrial action before getting paid, would you be happy?

Banange, can’t Gor Mahia find a better business module so that this nonsense of players crying for what is rightfully theirs stops?!!!!

    Kino kika! We are deadooo!

At my work am always reminded that that the human resource is the most critical for the success of the organization. At GM someone seems to think that you can take the workforce for granted and still expect good results through threats and coercion. It can’t work, won’t work. So, if you are a father and your children feed on ugali and sukuma wiki everyday and one day you bring home a nice fat rabbit you tell the children to look away as you roast and enjoy the meat? Even when they played a key role in the hunt? And when I say stupid, my post will be held for moderation?

  • I was one of the people who supported the club going for CECAFA and now that the EC is contemplating withdrawing because players are on strike( not fear of fatigue or injuries) I couldn’t agree more. Why go then if the players sweat their asses of and win they get less than half the prize money while the EC keeps the rest? There was some myopic argument that these players signed a contract and should not get any extra cent from money won in tournaments, then on what grounds are members of the EC sharing the rest of the loot? If players signed a contract for a specific ammount, I guess the members of the EC also has a contract showing what they earn. So how do you say players should not expect the windfall yet the EC are eating? Anelka says players were paid 38,000/= each from the Supercup prize money of 3miliion. If you multiply that by 30 players you get only 1.15 million. That means the EC and TB which should be less than 15 people pocketed the remaining 1.85 million!!!Where is the fairness in that? Who worked hardest for that money?

Let us be realistic, the price money is not for players only to share. As much as I would love the players to benefit the most, I still believe that the club also has other expenses that needs to be settled. There are winning bonuses agreed upon during contract signing and that is what should be binding. Running a club like Gor Mahia is not a joke like most of us want us to believe.

Question 1. If they use the prize money to run the club, what do they do with the sponsorship package they get from Sportpesa?
        2. Who said the prize money should all be shared by players?
        3. If the players are not entitled to the prize money, then are the EC entitled? And they got a bigger share, for doing what job? For running a club like Gor Mahia, which is no joke?

Kindly answer the questions I have asked should you bother to not ones you have set!!!

          Answer:
Q1. The Sportpesa sponsorship money is not enough to run a club of Gor Mahia calibre.
Q2. That is what majority are mourning over. We are all claiming that EC has eaten players money.
Q3. Players have each been paid Ksh. 38,000/= as bonuses for winning SS cup. We do not have proof of how EC used the balance. For now it they are rumors and you know as much.

Less of that the rumours of them having eaten the money will have a higher moral standing given the history of tumbocracy at the club

The problem between the EC and players are mainly management HR. issues. Gm need to engage a professional HR. Firm to manage relationship between Employer( GM) and Employees ( player). This purely lack of proper industrial relation management. Just effective communication with players will solve the problem. Motivation to players is part of good employee relationship. Reward for good work done is the key. Please listen to the players and you will agree with them on the way forward. Do not come up with impunity punishment such not honoring cecafa unless EC and players agree on the same. You can solve problem by creating another. Put contract issues aside and deal with employee relations. Do cheat yourself that you can sack all players and replace them with the same quality.

  • I dont wanna go into who between a guy of mjengo or the supervisor works the hardest, what I know is that the supervisor or the owner expects a job done as per what you have agreed on prior to agreeing to do the job .
It becomes a problem if either party does not honour what has been mutually agreed upon , be it the mjengo guy , the supervisor or the owner , its not about feelings , just business , I would say the same to any other business arrangement be it football or otherwise .
If there was a prior arrangement that the players be paid a percentage from each tournament , then that must
must be done , if such was not agreed upon , then it can only be a request, not a demand .
A player playing for Gor is not any different from e.g an Engineer working for Safaricom or Airtel , before starting or agreeing to the job, there are terms and conditions that have to mutually agrees upon and that may or will include salaries , allowances and or bonuses , the key word here being mutually agreed to between both and all parties before signatures are appended , any thing else over and above or below must again be mutually agreed to upon request not demand by either parties .
Thats why you will get that in the same team, one is getting e.g $400000 a week and another is getting $80000 , that is what either negotiated and agreed to before putting pen to paper .
My reasoning is based on a rationale that all parties more so Gor Mahia are honest and altruitic to the the agreements , though when it comes to Gor , with all the bloated cannibals that make the EC, I have my doubts about their intentions , no matter how good on paper they are , doesnt mean the players are right though .
I hesitate to choose between either and prefer to remain within the realms of common sense which at times is not very common in Gor Mahia .
If Gor was a normal club , the issue of AR being in Russia would not be an issue at all but
mere fact that it is confirms one pathetic fact . . .LACK OF STRUCTURES , CLUELESSNESS AND RUDDERLESSNESS, A CLUB ON AUTO PILOT . . .NOW THAT-IS A PROBLEM

    • @teddy, the players signed a contract. Yes. The EC have contracts. Should be . So if players need another agreement to get any extras, who should the EC agree with before they get extras like they did with the Supercup money?

      Reply
      • @Musymo , that now is the frustrating part , there is no defined structure and deliberately so, to anticipate and sort out such issues are they to arise and that being so , it leaves the players sometimes no choice and rightly so, to resort the media gallery so as to generate the kind of reaction we are witnessing on this wall and social media at large .
Since am not seeing any willingness to set up structure , this is a problem we will accept to be confronting overtime , the EC knows it and they know
Our attention span , very soon and without any effort from them , we shall move on and the vicious cycle continues

        Reply
    • @Teddy…Rachier being in Russia is not a problem, infact it is his right as a free citizen to travel the world as he deems fit.My problem is this-Being the sole signatory to the clubs account has crippled any efforts to renew players contracts like Kagere who wanted half the money upfront to Kahata who might leave to Erisa Ssekisambu who neede reassurances of signing fees upfront due to the uncertainty sorrounding the cash situation with players up in arms and absconding duty to no money to travel for Cecafa hence we are pulling out etc…I enumerated the above without proper punctuations so you can appreciate the gravity of Rachier going to Russia at a time the club needed him most around without dutifuly delegating financial power to others in the EC hence we cant sign any player who needs money upfront and are on the verge of catastrophy with boycott and tomorrow’s game in the balance of SoNy getting a walkover and us our first loss of the season in Kpl

As it is now , it is safe to say that the Gor Mahia office is now literary in Russia and hence the deficiencies you have ably emunurated . . . .Sad but true and that’s my point of depature with this office, as of now , the other clueless and rudderless office bearers notwithstanding , Gor is technically , literary and metaphoricallyon Auto Pilot – Until the “Office ” jets back

How I wish we could get our bearings right with the right persons at the right place. The CEO doesn’t seem to have PR/HR skills. Maybe the emotions has taken the best of them. The Nyangis who were vocal when the team was winning are now out of sight. This is the time to provide leadership.

If only we could go to Tz and meet/beat Simba with Kagere and maybe Kahata in their team that’s when our Gor will know that the team is bigger than any individual, be it a player , EC or TB member. In case we don’t go to Dar we will still have to play our league matches, no resting. So the best alternative is to go to TZ, give the ‘fringe’ players time to play as the regulars get some time to rest outside the local environment

Gentlemen, cool down. It is sad indeed not because Kagere left or because Kahata could be on the next flight. It is sad because a big team like GM does not value her stakeholders, GM does not appreciate the role of communication in corporate branding. On the other hand GM fans must take care not to allow players to irk their emotions into supporting wrong practices. Paying employees bonuses and undertaking other programs to motivate employees is noble and it is anchored on good communication. That is why I fault the CEO. He said the right thing the wrong way and everything ended being wrong. Demanding a cut for every coin that enters the organization from its normal business is extreme. GM has a big room for improvement and as fans or members we equally can play a good role if such chance was available. which club does our players compare with? Each market is unique and that is why you talk of Kenyan market, Tanzanian martket etc. For instance GM and AFC with all their weak begging bowls and management fiasco still pays better than clubs supported by rich institutions. I am not insinuating that they are paid well – that is why I don’t feel bad when an employee gets a greener pasture. As is always the case greener pastures are always green from far and far from green when you land. @Jasego. if you have not collapsed because of the happenings , at the moment just forget those great professionals from Senegal. Just walk into GM offices and sign in Ovella, Musa Mohammed ( if he is not in the flight to Zambia, Eric Marcelo and Muguna ( if they are available)
They didn’t commit any crime. They went out to look for experience and they got it. In Somali they say that if you want a goat, ask for a Camel. We played Ingwe very hard to get a chance to play Hull City. We prayed that we loose some of players to EPL. God answered us and gave us Simba Wekundu. Please continue praying EPL will come. As fans we should remain loyal, firm, noisy and messy depending on on the direction of wind.

The lack of structures and opaqueness at Gor, I believe, is by design to facilitate some underhand deals. To me this is in fact corruption and if a miracle can occur and these officials are forced by the justice system to come clean on gormahia accounts, am very sure many will be shocked. All is not well at gor. The baseless claims of one chairman financing the team while in financial crisis can only be trusted with documentary evidence of the same. To me such claims are part of the scheme to defraud the team. Am shocked that some player allowances haven’t been paid even with a good run that they have shown

Let’s hope Mustafa signs on and as usual as Gor we will make him a star. That is one area we have never failed and even Simba acknowledges that.
Have we gotten any local talent to sign up? Ovella, what happened? Am sure even at Western Stima or Kisumu Allstars we could get a player for the future. The good thing is that we are not releasing anyone. Not sure whether it’s due to having the right players or the confusion in the last two days.

Are we on tomorrow? We ned those three points for comfort sake. And are we going to Dar? We need to go and maybe the atmosphere will help the guys forget about the current situation.

She is causing problems in the team and it is unbelievable. I think the club needs to sort this out as soon as possible,” a dejected Kerr said.

He however hopes that the disruption of the last few days will not put the team’s focus off as they look to keep their unbeaten run intact and stretch their lead on top of the League standings to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Kerr is set to assess Burundian forward Francis Mustafa from Rwandese league side Kiyovu Stars with an aim of signing him.
“We don’t have much time because it is just one training session with him but we will see. It’s only two days to the end of the transfer window which doesn’t give us enough time to look at a player,” Kerr added.

Hearts off to Ker. This coach truly has Gor Mahia close to his heart.
