Gor Mahia transfer moves so far

New signings Keli and Kahata

According to the Standard, these are the transfer moves that Gor Mahia have completed so far.

Jacob Keli (Nkana, Zambia), Francis Kahata (un-attached), Gradus Ochieng (Nairobi City Stars), Erick Ouma (Kakamega High School), Amos Nondi (Gor Mahia youth), Jacques Tuyisenge (Police FC, Rwanda), Hamisi Mwinyi (Chemelil Sugar), Luke Ochieng (KCB) and James Ogada (Agrochemical) Out: David Juma, Timothy Otieno, Meddie Kagere, Michael Olunga and Dirkir Glay

Olunga’s is on trials and could return to Kenya if he cannot agree to terms with Swedish side Djugarden IF.

Shakava signs for two years

Defender Harun Shakava has extended his stay at Gor Mahia for another two years thus ending speculation about his departure. He had previously been linked first with Tusker then Kakamega Homeboyz.

“Shakava has agreed to extend his stay with us by two more years, a boost to us. He is a good player who has rapidly developed and his impact is clear to all. So he will be going nowhere, he will be with us for a longer period,” said Vice Chair David Kilo to goal.com

The speculation about Shakava started when it appeared that Gor Mahia were about to sign David Ochieng “Cheche”. But Cheche has since gone to Denmark where he too is on trials. But a return  to Homeboyz would have been a step backwards for a player who still has potential to go much further in his career.

Kilo went on to clarify the status of other players who have not joined the team as of yet.

“We are also expecting the likes of Wafula (Innocent), Aucho (Khalid) and (Goddfrey) Walusimbi to join the rest of the team this week. Aucho is already on his way coming. Only Tuyisenge will join us much later because of the on-going Chan matches.” continued Kilo.

According to Ronald Ngala, the whereabouts of Innocent wafula are unknown. He however clarified that the club does not owe either player salaries. Obly match bonuses are owed.

“We have cleared the salaries up to December and as for Aucho, he gave us his Ugandan bank account where we send his wages but we have not heard from Wafula since the team broke for holiday last year,” Ngala said to Capital FM.

Ngala says there is a misunderstanding from certain players about how match bonuses are calculated.

“We are aware of the balance that we owe them is bonuses which we are working on clearing. We have paid six out of eight from last year but the players are talking about 15 matches.

“We have had a tussle with the players concerning a couple of matches because in a tournament we don’t count per match but where they reached. We are in the process of clearing the remaining bonuses,” he said.

Ngala denies links to Jackson Saleh

Meanwhile Gor Mahia official Ronald Ngala has denied that the club has made overtures to AFC Leopards defender Jackson Saleh.

“No, we have not approached Saleh. Those are just rumors which have no truth. But we all know his quality and experience in the Kenyan Premier League, making him one of the best defenders.” said Ngala to goal.com

Saleh has approached AFC officials and told them that he is intent on leaving. A similar scenario ensued last year when Saleh threatened to leave AFC.

If we can get Saleh then we will be solid behind. As it is if there is any injury to Musa or Shakava then we are done. Last year we sacrificed Wafula by playing him at the back and so was Eric Ochieng. Hope we fill those gaps

The Kakamega high product is a central defender. Has anyone seen him play?

Looks like a winning team for the local league. CAF? Cant say much. But we need a strong central defender before the window closes.

With Cheche gone Saleh is the best alternative. Unless we get one from the lower tier

leave Saleh, he uses Kogalo as his bargaining tool. and AFC are giving in easily to that

That’s a good catch. My wish come true. Once solid at the back we now look for the goals which I believe Keli will provide. And Ja Usenge will also be there to provide the ammunition. I can see us winning the league for a fourth year in succession. On CAF Mungu saidia.

On another note just like ingwe has done when a player’s heat is somewhere he should be let go. Just like we did with Luanda Magere. Footy is a game of team work and not just money, otherwise ManU would not be losing to Leicester

CHECHE IS STILL AVAILABLE , AWAY ON TRIALS AND CAN STILL BE SIGNED BY 31ST JANUARY SO I DOUBT IF KOGALLO WILL GO FOR SALEH !! NEVERTHELESS , I DONT MIND HAVING BOTH PLAYERS AT KOGALLO , THE QUESTION HAS ALWAYS BEEN CAN WE AFFORD THEM.

Are you the one paying players directly? You job is to patronize the stadium and paying all the entry charges.

Keep doubting jakoyo but that is the truth. Saleh,Luke and Andika are training with K’Ogalo in Camp Toyoyo. Cheche has raised his bar beyond KPL ; that is why he wanted six months contract as easy way to use GM as a launching pad to greener pastures. I would prefer Saleh who is very stable locally than the sugar-coating Cheche who is very elusive.

Just a question. Is the team being overhauled? Are these not too many defenders? Its not always good to bring in so many old players as they jeopardize development of young brilliant talents. I fear that at the half season break there may be exodus of young talents as the old big names will be waiting to ask for ‘re-signing’ fees in tens of millions. Just a thought.

Otherwise the current recruitment has avoided big headed foreigners who are always in the media complaining about imaginary bonuses.

  • This only shows that the Gor Youth management need to pull up their socks in identifying real talent. All these players recently recruited, and the others in last season, are all showing us an obvious pattern. The place to revive your carrier is at Gor. The EC is also enhancing this with the “miniskirt” contracts. Alot of these players by nxt yr will certainly regain their momentum and will resort to treating Gor like they never new the club.
On the other hand Gor is disparate to get enough players to make an impact in the AC league. With the tight money squeez it’s a hard act for the EC to able to achieve much. They have tried so far.
EC needs to up it’s liason with the Youth Gor team.

Let’s be real here. The problem with Thika United is overreliance on youth. Gor cannot go that route. In fact the best thing is for the Junior players to be loaned like we did with Nondi to Sony and the other one who has gone to Mathare. Once they get playtime they can come to the senior team already hardened. APR beat us 5-0 at home just because we were literally using school boys. We cannot go that route again. The idea is to blend youth and experience. Even the younger players leave once they feel they are ripe for greener pastures.

And by the way do we want players to age in Gor yet we don’t give pension? Let’s give the fresh blood chance to come in at regular times
