Uganda Cranes midfielder Geoffrey “Baba” Kizito is off to Vietnam after playing for Gor Mahia for one season.
“I think I have played my part by helping the team retain Kenya Premier League title and I am looking at other options now,” said Kizito to MTNfootball.
Kizito had been in trials with a Vietnamese club after the end of the season in Kenya and managed to secure a place.
“I signed a pre-contract with a team in Vietnam and hopefully I will be headed back there.”. Prior to playing for Gor Mahia Kizito featured for another Vietnamese side Saigon Xuan Thanh
Kizito scored six goals during the 2014 season, none more memorable than the spectacular free-kick that sealed a 1-0 win over SoNy Sugar to keep Gor Mahia’s title challenge on track.
Meanwhile Simba have confirmed the sign on fee offered to Dan Sserunkuma, a whopping Ksh 8.1 million.
He added: “Initially he asked for Sh9m (100, 000 dollars) for his move but we settled at Sh8.1m (90,000 dollars) and we believe he will help us win many titles with his goals, just as he did for Gor Mahia.” said Simba chief scout Hans Poppe to goal.com
Chris Omondi decries lack of finances
Gor Mahia secretary general indicated that the club did their best to hold onto Sserunkuma but they never had a chance against a well financed Simba.
“Sserunkuma is as good as gone. We have tried to convince him to stay as we work out a new deal but Simba have given him a good deal that we cannot match with our current financial problems,” he said to the KPL website.
Omondi said they tried to tie down the player but his agent played hard and kept pushing him to sign the Tanzanian deal.
“The realities of our weakness in matters finance have been brought home especially at this point of the season. We tried to fight for his signature but it reached a point we couldn’t bargain. He knew what was on the table and his agent was breathing down his neck to sign the Simba deal; so on that we have lost out. He says he has not signed yet, but I do not see him rejecting the offer,” Omondi continued.
Thats what will ever be happening when their is no operational mechanisms. By the way whats ADUDAS work? I thought he should give the EC Business Avenues and even champion them??

The club now requires a sponsor than before.
Let us focus on new signings and retaining those who are willing to remain. We now need a very lethal striker if we have to make impact both in KPL and continental scene.
Honestly speaking these are possible and it’s should start with positivity from the leadership. If you keep on crying about finances then how do you expect to attract any serious player to your camp?
Guys let us cretic when we have the facts sometime we blame the EC for something that is beyond their reach,take 4 example the issue of transfers,since av got some clue of the happenings in that office,the so called players refused to talk about their contracts,thats serre,Owino,kizito na wale walienda kama Rama,Lavatsa and even kiongera kama player amekataa to talk about his contract saying that he can do that after the season ends whom do u blame? can u force a player to sign a contract? no we cant,we av even seen like in Europe where a player can decide to force his way out of the club,in that kind of scenario whome do u blame? all these players that left for free refused to talk so u cant force them,i can remember when the the so called EC begged Lavatsa to even renew his contract for even 6 months so that atleast the club can get something after naturing him for all those years the guy flatly refused and he went,look at Wanga he new he was going and he made sure that he sign another contract so that AFC can get something when he live and that is what he did and afusi benefited out of that,hawa wetu wanakata kabisa so my dear friends we can never blame the EC on this.
if there is one thing the EC should start learning by now if they have any business accumen, start issuing longer contracts, at least to your ‘national material’ players. These are the ones the other clubs are eyeing and are basically picking them for peanuts. A pity that AFC is still destroying players careers… but i must blame the likes of Masika who could not see the obvious. AFC is not a club to go to if you want to improve your skills. Wanyonyi will most likely be next.

Now i can see most of us are making alot of noise concerning the transfers and yet we all know we dont have the money to compete for the players we are making noise to sign,just the other day when we had an harrambee for the club at railways club how many of the people making noise here attended that harambee? and if we attended what was ur participation? some of the guys making noise here i saw but where they actively participated was when sonko gave 200k 4 the youths and divas to share thats where i saw them seriously participate in tiring Caleb cloths so lets debate soberly and with facts.
@Erico Jarae – Lack of strategy and mobilization skills is the real undoing. Until when will we continue running the club with harambees and uncertainties? Some of the fans are struggling to make ends meet so you can’t blame anyone for not attending an Harambee.
The club should have a clear strategy and direction. The leadership should have ways of multiplying what the club gets. By now Gor Mahia as a club should be having rental houses, buying and selling shares, and very big assets… I presume the leadership should have great influence which should lead to not only getting a sponsor but many sponsors.
Anyway, these are just opinions so no one should get offended.

my hope is that something serious is being done behind the scenes.But one thing is obvious,we need quality signings to replace kizito and co….and we must move fast if we are capable.The faster we have the new players in the better coz earlier preps for the continental should be a matter of priority!

Thank you Baba Kizito and Dani. We are so proud of your commitment,determination and love for Gor when you played for the team. Am sure that apart from the game of football, there are some disciplines that your would be former teamates have picked. Even though we could not tie you down because at the end of the day everybody wants financial reward in what they do, please go with our blessings. When you are able to pay us a visit, K’Ogallo family is always open.I have a feeling that the authority and the discipline that you stamped while playing for K’Ogallo is in itself a big challenge for any player who would want to join Gor Mahia.As for the Office, you must have really tried to retain them.However, do not feel sad that they left however had it is. We will keep supporting you as work with the little budget you have. I believe as we build on our financial muscles, some of these things will be a thing in the past.
EErico is saying the truth, you cannot force a player to sign a contract but you can manage him within a current contract. Our football administrators are also fond of frastruting players who are on contract but want to go for greener pastures due to the officials’ persoal gains. Someone like Calabar knows that he has a few years as a top notch striker so he must just leave now, which is a wise thing to do.
So guys let us wish all the departing guys the best as we welcome the new ones.
For the pessimists like @Jakoyo Gor will always wither these storms and perform beyond our expectations
Re: Gor Mahia finances.
I ODUOR12 am ready to be contributing kshs.500 every month. This translates to kshs.6,000 per year.
I am willing to contribute this amount 3 months in advance starting Jan2015.
My only condition is that my contribution will be through a Gor Mahia Sacco which Jakom Rachier says has already been registered.
I cannot afford kshs.1,000/month but if EC opts for a lesser figure than 500 then am all game.
If EC can mobilize 12,000 such like persons it will have Kshs.18M, 6,000 persons will raise kshs.9M, 3,000 persons will raise kshs.4.5M
This should give GM about kshs.30M to start off the 2015 season since but my last calculation the club has about Kshs.12M after the harambees/donations.
YES EC & WE CAN CRY ABOUT OUR WEAKNESS IN MATTERS FINANCE BUT WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT ESPECIALLY AFTER ALLOWING “FREE” ENTRY TO OUR HOME GAMES.

@ODUOR12, thanks for the correction. I hope you agree that he needs to go out there and better his life. At Gor there is just this much we can do to improve their lives. All we can do is to give them a platform to be seen by the scouts.
As it is now Wanyama, Oliech , Mariga etc have literally crossed the poverty line and yet when it comes to the National team the locals play as good as these foreign pros.
