Gor Mahia transfer news June 3

Baron Oketch Jobita is officially the first player acquired by Gor Mahia during the June 2016 mid season transfer season. Jobita first came to the limelight in 2012 while playing for Kakamega high school along with Timothy Otieno. He was instrumental in enabling Kakamega qualify for the national championships with several crucial goals most notably in the provincial semi-finals against Mukumu in which he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win. Following his performance at the nationals, he was selected to the Kenya U17 team that played in the Pan-African Airtel Championship.

In 2013 he played in the KPL U19 and was a key performer as Western Stima won the tournament. In 2014 he was promoted to the senior team. Jobita is an attacking midfielder who has scored several goals for Western Stima. His further who joined Gor Mahia around 1990 found the going tough and was unable to get sufficient playing time because in those days, players rarely left for greener pastures. As such the club was laden with experienced players at his position. However the younger Jobita is certain to make an impression at Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia are also said to be interested in signing Muhoroni Youth defender Wellington Ochieng. The club deems him to be worth Ksh 500,000. However Muhoroni Youth Chairman Moses Adagala is adamant that Gor Mahia must part with Ksh 2 million for the player.

“The player is good and we value him at Ksh.2 million. If they are serious about signing the player then they should meet his valuation or offer us a figure we can consider”, Adagala told Futaa.com.

With Gor Mahia paying an arm and a leg for players, it will be interesting to see if they let Khalid Aucho go away for free as they did with Ali Abondo.

  • There were so many doubters on this blog when some of us called for him to be signed. It is now up to him to prove them wrong failure to which he will tread the well beaten path of the likes of Abbey Natty, Daniel Onyango, Peter Juma, Timothy Otieno et al. Latest updates say we are on the trail of a 32 year old Brazilian striker Da Lima after our initial target Pierra Da Silva proved elusive. I pray he is 10 times better than all local and continental alternatives considering his age and the money we are likely to pay as sign on fees and salary.

The two players I would really need to see joining are Mieno and Johanna. One thing it will do is to give up options when Gattuso plays up as is his norm and also someone to take over from Walu and Aucho in case they leave.. On the Brazilian I hope he is good but I once saw AP and Yanga with some Brazilians and they were really good

  • @ Dan Original,Walusimbi has a two year running contract signed in Dec and we not planning to let him go anytime soon,he is one of Ze Maria’s favorite players because of his technical capabilities. On the matter of Johanna & Mieno, both teams feel we are trying to weaken them ahead of the 2nd leg by buying their finest though the players are more than willing to join GM.We will see how it pans out eventually…

    • @Ja Asego. Good work you guys are doing!!! What are your alternatives should the Mieno and Johanna’s deals hit a dead end. Munro is always hateful of Gor to an extent he would rather hold on to a player with only 6 months on his contract and have him go for free in January. Let him know we will bide our time and than get Johanna on the Bosman in January. Who will be wiser then? @Ja Asego we are within our rights to sign a pre-contract with him awaiting January if Munro cannot let go of him now. As for Mieno I would have wished for him to come knowing well his technical ability but if his club refuses i wont lose sleep!

  • Rumour from Brazil is that the Brazilian is a 32 year old striker coach not really a footballer per say.
…let’s not get caught up in this mentality that every Brazilian is a good footballer…is every Kenyan a good runner ?

  • Tuwache mafeelings @ Okewkanango has severally clarified that he’s more comfortable blogging in dhluo as he’s able to express himself better in that language than in oswayo or english, no need for a little banter btw bloggers to get a few hot under the collar. Now its seems Aucho will leave as Rangers have tabled an official bid. This means that we need Mieno and Johana that much more. Secondly isn’t there a provision for a player with 6month’s left on his contract to buy it out. I stand guided but my view is what if the new club (read GM) is offerring the players significantly better personal terms. Finally 2 Brazilians could be joining us 32 year old striker (age is but a number mabao e momata) and an assistant coach who understands “samba philosophy” Surely i expect all this investment to be translated into trophies locally, regionally and significant progress be made continentally. • Some of us are so myopic in their reasoning. What makes you think that being able to speak English makes you a better person than okewkanango? That reference to every market having its madman was especially unwarranted. Okewkanango has not been vulgar or offensive in his postings and if you would just stop being pretentious you would see the humour in what he posts. This is not a language class but a blog for lovers and sometimes haters(Ingo) of Gor Mahia. So just post in your upscale private school English and let okewkanango blog in his language of choice. Those of us who have time for him will read and if worth commenting we will. If his posting offends you you dont have to read. Just take a hike with your stiff upper lip. It is so funny that some of us admonish him for blogging in dholuo then go ahead to write very broken English. This is not your household where you reign with an iron rod!!
